At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

I am Deaf and do sign. You Tube has CC but they are very poor. They need to work on improving their CC especially for All videos on here...for all people. have met many HOH who do not know ASL.

This is a wonderful presentation by Linda Bove. However, the voice-over is difficult to hear, and the "captions" are absurdly inaccurate. Please create subtitles or captions that give Ms. Bove her due and that exemplify her ideals.

Did you notice the voice over misses a lot of information as well? I wonder if they working with a team at all??

@@CCCASL2008 Unfortunately, it seems they were not working with a team. It would be best if they re-made the audio for this video, and also added subtitles. Linda Bove and her audiences deserve this.

Please add captions for non-signers. Very important. #withcaptions please.

Such a good message from Linda Bove. I'm learning sign right now and these types of things are so helpful for me. Not only am I learning about what is important to the Deaf, but I am learning ASL as well. I'm sure that interpreting ASL for the hearing community has to be difficult, b/c you lose so much in the translation, but I admire the interpreters for putting in the years of study to bring the hearing community the voices of the Deaf.

Not all deafies know ASL, so captions would have been nice.

Please add proper closed captions to make videos accessible to people who are hard of hearing and don't know ASL. I don't mind not hearing the spoken language interpretation in the background, but I really need to see proper captions.

Wow That was awesome! Really appreciate opportunity to watch this caliber of presentation on-line. Thanks so much! I don't know very much about this topic, but it seems like a big step would be if the Actors guild/unions had a professional code of conduct that deferred work in the spirit of ADA access and reserved those roles for authentically representative Deaf/Blind/Disabled actors. It is presumptuous for a Hrg non-signer to accept a Deaf signing role. Result is hollow performance.

Could you please add captions to this? I have some friends who are deaf but do not know sign language, and they would like to be able to access this video as well! Thank you so much!

Could it be closed captioned or better yet make another video and subtitle it? Your diatribe of Deaf Actors are important and worthy of repeating. Thank you!

It is always amazing to me what ridiculously stupid choices some directors can make. They are completely clueless when really, they should be the ones that are the most clued in! I also think actors should have to follow a code of ethics where they do not accept roles that are not appropriate to them (hearing acting deaf, etc.)

The voice-over needs to be re-done on this. Hearing (NON ASL users) need to have access to Linda's message! The voicing interpretation was not clear and quite a few mistakes (omissions and substitutions) were made that impacted the faithful rendering of the message. Quality voice-over would improve closed captioning as well.

Great video, but the audio quality of the interpreter's voice is not good enough for the auto-caption feature to work! Please add captions!

Captions should be created by someone who knows ASL, not based off what the interpreter is saying! There are many mistakes - this is terrible Captioning!
