One can actually finance rentals in cash. Its just a matter of patience and taking reasonable risks. 11 years ago I inherited land from my parents and my siblings encouraged me to build apartments by taking a loan at 25%. I decided to wait. I had a house here in America which I sold for an amount higher than what I had bought it for. I also had money that I had been putting in the stock market for over 10 years. Fast forward to 2021, I used the money from the sale of the house and the dividends from my stock portfolio to build apartments using cash it will take me 4 years to recoup the money I invested into those apartments as opposed to over 20 years if I had taken a loan. I just want to give someone out there some hope. Start where you are and be patient
Why doesn't this show have a million subscribers? It's one of the most educational show I've come across in a long time. Your guests are knowledgeable and really break down the information in a way ordinary people can understand. I'm speaking growth into this channel 🙏
Most people are being fooled by the illusion of wealth. Big houses, expensive cars, and a fancy lifestyle are just status symbols.True wealth is freedom, time, health, and options.
Very well said. Warren Buffet always talks of the compound effect, and this is a great source of passive income, which in return gives you freedom, time, health, and options!
Mr. Thiong'o has dug deep into the investments jargon so that even the layman can understand these technical issues. Just like a mother who chews food for her toddler to eat. Kudos!!
I'm an individual investor in the US and I can say that by putting my money in mutual funds and Roth IRA^s, I've been able to make money. I've used dividends to invest in apartments back home. So I would say that individual investors can make money in the stock market, not just institutional investors
Thank you Lynn, for hosting Pst. Elizabeth she I such blessing to the body of Christ. Indeed God is raising a Church inside the Church. The church without denomination, A Church without walls. Let's wake up and pay attention. These are His remnants. If you know you know.
Dr. Kingori thank you for bringing Mr. Thiongo. I have really learnt alot about business and how money moves. Bring him again to shed more light on how a startup can obtain funding
1:13:13, 1:16:38, 1:16:50 - Wow, I love the technical explanation of these concepts: mining, proof of work in blockchain technology, what you need for to perform Bitcoin mining, and the effects on the environment. Some people get conned being told that they can easily earn by doing Bitcoin mining, but it's clear that to mine BTC, you need significant computing power. This means having many processors in you house that even require cooling systems due to the immense heat generated while solving the "complex problems". This high electricity consumption and its negative environmental impacts are among the reasons why China banned BTC mining.
This the most influential podcast Mr king'ori with Edwin .I have learnt a lot and looking for more .Hook me up for more advices with him in near future . God bless .
Kingori next you host a business personnel kindly ask on elaboration on the phrase "fake it till you make it"? I often encounter this term and would like to understand its implications in a business setting.
I grew up in Kenya and have lived in America for over 15 years. Unfortunately we cannot compare the Kenyan economy to the American one. Technology advances aren't enough. Infrastructure is paramount. The American Infrastructure is more superior than most countries in the world. The road, railroad, shipping and even air Infrastructure makes it very easy to do business in America. Let's not forget the factories and the manufacturing sector which has been growing for over 150 years. It always bothers me to see very beautiful suburbs or business sprouting where the sewer, water and roads aren't developed. I own property properties in Kenya and I've really struggled to maintain good tenants because of lack of Infrastructure. Its the governments responsibility to give us good Infrastructure
Let's leverage on our natural resources. Our mind. It has to start somewhere. We can restart the cycle. We are living in someone else's cycle, and this is the sad part.
The price of a share in the market is more of a sentimental value,so even when the price falls, the physical asset share is still intact in the company.
Dr.King'ori.The west has said it openly that they will not allow Africa to industrialize. However,my view is that Africa does not have to wait to be handed industrialization.Did China,India, etc.,beg for it?Africa just needs to borrow a leaf from such.In any case the continent is well endowed with the requisite natural resources and can partner with other regions willing to participate in the process. But,unity of purpose and intentionality must precede the process.
What most people don’t tell us is 90% of all US startups fail within the first decade. But still US records as the leader of startups. Resilience, determination and grit is a dominant factor with Americans. All major companies in US have resources budgeted for R&D, which is basically lost in trials of different ventures. Kenyans ventures shouldn’t be any different.
@TheWickedEditionDrKingori please bring an expert on software intensive startups, to tell us about Startups. Unlike traditional businesses which make 8-10% margins, startups have 70% to 80% gross margins. Should more Kenyans start more startups?
He has a great understanding when it comes to finances but I am hesitant to say the same when the conversation switches to business! He has strong leadership when its time to speak finances but he lacks leadership in the subject of business - his understanding of business is totally skewed by his strength in finance!
After the most recent halving of the bitcoin three weeks ago, the cryptocurrency will be soon out of reach for most people as the price will stabilize above 10m for most of its future.
In addition everyone can be rich according to their capacity, poor person is rich he/ she owns something like shelter but other scenarios wealthy individuals have time and Money entrepreneur
Love the conversation but for clarity I think the topic about crypto is misleading in a way. If one only knows Bitcoin and Etherium they simply just have an overview about crypto. For instance talking about proof of stake and using Bitcoin as an example simply is misinformation because BTC uses proof of work and crypto like Eth or Ada use proof of stake. Crypto is complex to just talk about it in such simplicity. Great conversation though.
Perfect in terms of investment and business understanding. However, he did not give a good explanation on Crypto and more so about Bitcoin. Bitcoin is uncomparable to any other currency.
For a business strategist, the guest is too pessimistic regarding business outlook anywhere on earth 🙂 Lest we forget, it's only in the developing world where the richest people are politicians, the rest of the world is ruled by businesspeople!
