@ExcelIsFun, I don't presume to lecture you - your training is far too good for that. Fantastic stuff, many thanks

@mysimonhughes , I did not think that for a second! Almost all of the great tricks I have learned are from studnets in my class, comments here at TH-cam or posts at the Mr Excel Message Board! Here online, we are a great big Excel team that all help each other!.

@mysimonhughes , "% markup on sell price" and and margin in place of "% cost on sell price" , however are the terms used in the etxtbook I use and each is a different calculation.
    "% markup on sell price" = $ Markup/Sell Price
"% cost on sell price" = $Cost/Sell Price
These two percentages add up to 100% and tell the retailer for each one dollar in the cash register, what percentage goes to COGS and what part goes to markup (expenses and let over profit).

@mysimonhughes , sure that would be good! But I error on the safe side because there is markup% on Cost and Markup % on Sell price.

Hi Mike, maybe a little less confusing to use cost of sale instead of "% markup on sell price" and and margin in place of "% cost on sell price" - the terms seem to be a bit similar to me. If a 44% margin is required, simply divide the product cost 56% or 0.56. Of course, I am familiar with the terms CoS and Margin so it would be easier for me!
