What about Willis/Wallace's partners... they were twins but with 1 device? The main problem I had with the 1st and 2nd season's devices was that they needed something else to be complete. I also think that the d-power was the best device, it had everything in it + radar/map.
The original Digivice is still my favorite. I love how they change color when a digimon evolves to Ultimate or Mega. When I’m rewatching old digimon episodes and see Mimi’s Digivice turn green and orange I immediately start crying. My 3rd favorite digimon of all time is Lilimon
My top 2 favorites are Cherubimon and ChaosGallantmon. Cherubimon is just really cute and it has some really cool attacks. And it’s evil form is awesome. There’s an entire story of why I love ChaosGallantmon so much but it’s pretty long. He’s not just a black copy like BlackGuilmon. Just a dark sinister version of Gallantmon and his color scheme is really cool in my opinion.
I like the idea of wearing a Digivice on the arm. I have the idea of something that is a bit different. I'd call it the "Digibracer". A (metallic) bracer that can make a Digimon digivolve. It would have Digicodes engraved on it and they start to glow when a digivolution happens. Perhaps a type of gem (with a symbol) could be implemented into the bracer as well. It will look more ancient or medieval in the end, so it would fit into the world of Witchelny.
Well, the closest we will have to that would be the Vital Brace when it releases, or if you have the v-pets you can get a bracelet to put it in on Etsy
I would really love to have those twin digivices! Having a friend who has the "second half" of it would really motivate me to keep leveling it. Also I agree with you on the Kizuna digivice. It really seems like their normal smartphones are just setup to access their real digivices remotely like a long-distance bluetooth connection.
A really cool thing that could happen is that, if/when the users of the twin Digivices do a fusion/jogress, they physically connect the Digivices into a single whole. It'd be such an awesome visual.
I know this will sound dumb, but I really like the Digivices from Last Evolution and Rearize. I always liked the idea that Digimon Tamers can be anybody, regardless of age, so the fact that a smartphone can access your Digimon’s stats, data, and channel your own power to digivolve them is amazing. This would allow anybody to be a Digimon Tamer.
YES! As a fellow '93 baby, the D-Ark is my top 1 as well. A close second is the D-Tector for its story! I also used to point the scanner at TV static to encounter Digimon when I didn't have barcodes at home. Hahaha.
Yes the D3 and the D-Arc are the best! ❤️ But I also love the D-Scanner. It's so cool that you can scan Barcodes and in every code is a different Digimon hiding.
The D Power was my favorite digivice too (Terriermon is my favorite digimon); Not just because of its design but also because of its concept of card game augmentation. By that i mean it has the digimon tamer play a larger role in strategic combat than just simply standing idly-by and cheering.
The Fusion Loader reminds me of one of the newer gen Pokédexes. Not a slam; just an observation. 100% agree with that #1 pick. It's such a good digivice.
The Fusion Loader is my personal favorite just for the design and nostalgia for Fusion. I did watch the first 2 series of Digimon back in the 2010's before Fusion, but Fusion was my first "caught up to the current airing" kinda thing. Now, I tried getting into Tamers, and I watched the first episodes of Frontier and Data Squad, but I never got far into them. I will say that the Fusion Loader hardly has any implementation other than fusing and summoning legendary Digimon via chips, but I still love it.
The whole video I was screaming for the D-Ark to be the number one. Tamers is my favorite Rika being my fav Tamer. I love Tamers and I am glad to see it be getting some much-needed love here

I also have a hard time figuring out which I like more. It's between the D-3, D-Ark, and D-tector. I do like the Applimon and Fusion ones, but I grew up with these (in the shows, I never got a real Digivice)
I knew of the show Digivices but those different ones sound really cool. And why am I not surprised the D power digivice from digimon season 3 would be number one I mean you get to slice cards with it it's used as a map and a scanner for Digimon that thing is very versatile. I would love to try to get another one of those types of devices and even the original 1st season devices but man are they expensive. But in any case very solid and well-thought-out list and now you got me to want to read this digimon next thing so I hope you're happy because now I'm going to be trying to read that and the V tamer manga again lol.
I loved my yellow D3 so much! I unfortunately lost it on a school trip to downtown Chicago in 2002 but for a little bit of time Armadillomon and I took on any invaders in the city by ourselves. It was a fun time, a more care free imagination era. I also REALLY REALLY wanted the green Tamers digivice but literally could never afford it (family is poor so it's surprising I even got the D3, though, it was the only birthday gift I got cause it was so expensive). It came with a whole computer CD that let you play online against people I believe, my ONLY two friends already had the Guilmon and Renamon ones...it would've been too perfect if I could've got Terriermon and played with them 😭

(I know you said you're thinking about more Crest-related top 10's, which I also would love to see)
Shout out to flip phones especially the wild force morphers but damn there’s so many more Digivices I was unfamiliar with but are all very interesting, yet again another fun video dude. Some of the less mainstream series that you mentioned in this video (like the Chinese manga) I’d love to see a video explaining more about each of them if that’s something you’d want to do.
my #1 is the Hacker's Memory Goggles. Making Goggles the Digivice in Cyber Sleuth felt like such a no brainer that perfectly complimented the Virtual Reality plot but then the Hacker's Memory version took it one step further by making it look bulky yet still futuristically sleek to give the feel of a higher powered device a person who does hacking as a job will need, and it looked like it had Augmented Reality capabilities as well. Arata Sanada's goggle Digivice being the inside of his hood was also genius as he pulls his hood over his eyes to jack in and modify his Digimon
I don’t know what your ranks are gonna be, but I hard have to believe the Tamer’s digivices are gonna rank high. They just have such a nice design, they fit in the hand really well too. Also, Karn, have you considered doing a fan made digimon design vid? I know that sounds clout Chasey from the guy who keeps sending you digimon designs as I go, but I could care less if my designs got in. I just want to see other people’s designs! Could even be cool if you could make it a contest and the winner gets their digimon drawn up by an participating artist. Having now finished the video? YES! I designed my line solely because of the way Guilmon was created. Hell, I have takato’s gold digivice- the American variant, which as far as I can tell was much worse- sitting on my desk while I’m working today.

You are right for Tamers season, it was innovative season with good new ideas: the card swash/modifier, the merge of the partners, the holograms, the twisted story that it gave, definitely the evolution animation... its pity they haven't use more of all these stuff in the future seasons...
I absolutely loved the D-3 and the D-Power as a kid, those were some amazing toys. Getting flashbacks of BlackWarGreymon boss battles, wish I kept it, they're a bit too expensive to buy for a nostalgia hit now unfortunately!
My dad was a carpenter when I was a kid. He once had a lot of spare floorboards that had slatted sides, through which I could slash a card. Tamers-roleplay on a budget lol.
Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to own my first and for now only Digivice-Toy which is the red D－Ark! It just feels so incredible to just hold it in my hands. I don't even have to play with it. Only to hold it, gives me an amazing feeling.

Hey, great video once again. I hope Crunchyroll continues to give us the series in their original forms - I'd love to see Tamers in the original Japanese. If you're in the market for suggestions, I've been looking at some of the complete train wreck, missed-the-point translations of Digimon names - Sukamon is meant to be Scummon, for example - due to 'translators' seemingly forgetting that Japanese doesn't have the same sounds as English, so when writing English words in Japanese they just have to 'make do' sometimes... Boltboutamon is a prime example!
Funnily enough, "suka" means both "vinegar" and "vomit" in Filipino depending on the pronunciation, so when I was watching the Tagalog dubs, the name made so much sense to me as a kid. 😅

Functionally I want the v-tamer one with a card slash feature and that will be my favorite. I love the og adventure digivice for it's mystery and simplicity, but I want that design on my arm with a digimodify slot.

Sorry.....but my heart sunk that the Fusion Loader didn't even scratch the tail-end of the list. Even though I watched the re-runs of the original 2 seasons back in the early 2010's as my introduction to Digimon, but Fusion was my baby. It was my series. I love the design of the Fusion Loader, even if it doesn't get near the use in-show as it should.
Its the V-Tamer Digivice for me, for all the reasons you mentioned you liked it. The narrative aspect of using it to input commands into your Digimon is what I think a Digivice should be, rather than the kids just sort of standing there as their monsters fight. The D-Arc with Card Slash does this too, and would be my second pick, but to me the cards just kind of feel like an unnessesary middle-man to what the V-Tamer Digivice does.
I kinda like how the AppliDrive brought a level of physicality that hadn't been seen in Digivice-like objects in quite some time. It's just a shame it was attached to Applimon of all things.
I loved the D-ark, I owned one that was FULL blue and I mean like not even debuted in the Anime at all but as a toy it was a full blue but based on the golden one from Takato since it had also these Digi Symbols around the screen. Gave it away to my friend as she collected that kind of merch. I do regret that decision now but hey I did something good back then since my friend hardly got any merch and this full blue D-Ark one I got was brought when I was in thailand and they had that.
I love digimon and I like your page, but two things. 1) D-Scanners gotta be in the top 5. They are very similar to the original atleast from V2 just a bit more mature, and also a lot more cellphone like especially at the time (07 in America). 2)Frontier also kinda has twin digidestined with light and dark. That’s all I’ll say on that. They also have different forms like beast mode and hybrid mode, which you most likely know about. It’s just a cool different take and it’s something that would be cool in 02 with the armored digievolutions. If you have not watched that season please watch it!
I am writing my own script for a digimon show and the digivice is going to be called the D-gauntlet or D-vambrace, as the name implies it is an arm worn digivice and I just think it's a cool concept. I also plan on inputting some stuff from Kizuna like the bond clock.
As child I used to think the antenna on the calssic digivice was a trigger to evolve your partner Digimon. I think this idea comes from how they used to hold them.
While the original is my favorite in part due to nostalgia, I would want an IC or one of the Digivices featured in the Cyber Sleuth games for the ability to store your Digimon like a Pokeball. One recurring struggle with Digimon was keeping them a secret, especially from parents and these just eliminate that entirely, unless your Agumon 2006 version is for some reason too big. (That gag made no sense to me.) Not only that, but some Digimon are either unsafe to have in certain places or too big and this allows you to take your partner places that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to go with them. Probably not a wise idea to take your Meramon to the wax museum, for instance. Plus it is just easier to carry than lugging your partner around and saying they are a toy if asked.
I have a friend who hates the Digivice from the 3rd season with Takato and the gang. His only reason for it is that used a card, can't remember exactly what he used, I think it was a tcg card, but he managed to slice his fingers and give himself a paper cut. Its how on my birthday I got myself a green digivice from that season lol
The 01 arm mounted is really cool. And the transmitting commands? Really sells a combination of digimon being both partner and data. But the D-Ark is also my perfect digivice. It's got the smoothest integration of purpose and functionality and design in the anime (Yeah, Anime-only XD Need to read the mangas honestly). The D-scanner tried but... it really comes across as being a bit too clunky? Like, where do they keep those things? And seriously, the scanning and radar features of the D-Ark (and even the name D-Ark/D-Power) are perfect.
When you start on the vpets the pendulum cycle is my personal favorite it makes me feel like a actual digi destined getting my favorite/partner digimon mushmon to mega then when it’s time to sleep goes back to rookie feels like a real adventure

Xros Loader/Fusion Loader is kinda cool one. it can stored many Digimons in one Loader/Digivice. plus Digixros/Digifuse feature. kinda Xros Loader is like Digimon Prison Digivice. Catching Digimons. shown in Digimon Xros Wars S3/Hunter. the more the person collect digimon. it made as Army. includes Digimemories and Code Crown. when Claiming Code Crown means the Zone is Conquered. also other of my favorite is Appli Driver, well it has same feature to Xros Loader but it can reload one Appmon. also it has Fusion feature. also there Watch besides the Appli Driver. it stored Appmon Chip storage tho.
I agree on the tamers digivice that is my favourite digivice of all time because of the card swipes to boost digimon and such even think of having my own custom made to how it would feel if I was a tamer with my own digimon
I never realised the original Digivice had an antenna. I always thought it was a button. I do t know what I thought it did… but it makes sense that it’s an antenna because hey, it was the nineties!
What do you think of the applidrive duo which is an upgrade version of the applidrive. I start to warm up to the applidrive because the toy can fuse any appmon chip you have and you might get an evolve appmon when fusion
Debating digivices to me is always a matter of design vs function. I personally find the d scanner to be the coolest. Smartphone digivice from kizuna and the d cyber are honorable mentions as well. But the kizuna smartphone digivice sadly never got a v pet version (and in all fairness I'm not sure how Bandai could pull it off properly without being some kind of app), and the d cyber while looking cool, the d scanner looks more practical and the scan function was pretty cool. The only downside to the d scanner was it was associated to a controversial season and in a v pet perspective, it was sold as a sort of pokemon game where you have more than one digimon partner but the rest was pretty flawless.
I lost my collection years ago, sadly, but didn't the D3 have a feature where it would supposedly read radio waves from a nearby antenna or something? Or am I totally misremembering? Also, not a digivice, but Bandai of Asia did have a wrist-mounted device way back when with a spring-loaded screen cover and I forget what features in it. I thought it was the next best thing to having an actual 01 Digivice toy. :p
Question: The digivices always have buttons on them but, I've only seen them used once. In Season 2, mimi changed which time zone she was in. Have any one the other seasons actually pressed any of the buttons? Not counting the reboot because Izzy upgraded the new devices so they probably press buttons to use scan or communication functions.
The dub says the smartphone digivice is an artificial digivice created by Izzi. Meant as future replacements in the event their originals would fail. With additional features merged in from the d3, the d-terminal and other programs created by Izzie. i see it as Toei animation attempting to create an universal digivice for future series. In the cyber sleuth universe, it seems like all digivices are meant to be universal. Just available in different smart-device appearances.
You know the Digivice IC I guess.. the one from Savers have 2 forms. The bland yet clunky first one And the more elegant but not that janky version that evolves to access Mega evolution
Sucks that the frontier digivice isn't that high, idk if its pure bias on my end but that digivice just seems right to me. Looks like it'll fit in your hand perfectly like how you'd hold a smartphone. Also the d scanners were flip phones originally lol so kinda there right? I still have my dark d3 but I'm going to have to agree with you with the D Arc was the best one because of that factor it allowed the owner to feel like they were an actual Tamar the point where I came up with my own Digimon when I was a kid and I still think about him raptormon a member of the metal Empire and nature spirits think about it a velociraptor from Jurassic Park but had the Brute plasma rifle from Halo 2 on his arms and he was connected to the crest of gluttony because I thought if there is a crest for the digidestined why couldn't there be a set of crests or something for the seven demon Lords and I always thought Beelzemon was awesome and I decided my original Digimon would be connected to his Crest doesn't digivolve into him but the mega form was similar his name was Xth (10th) mon. Carried two guns similar to the main character from dot hack gu in his final form but looked more Fox like

Having now finished the video? YES! I designed my line solely because of the way Guilmon was created. Hell, I have takato’s gold digivice- the American variant, which as far as I can tell was much worse- sitting on my desk while I’m working today.

You are right for Tamers season, it was innovative season with good new ideas: the card swash/modifier, the merge of the partners, the holograms, the twisted story that it gave, definitely the evolution animation... its pity they haven't use more of all these stuff in the future seasons...

I absolutely loved the D-3 and the D-Power as a kid, those were some amazing toys. Getting flashbacks of BlackWarGreymon boss battles, wish I kept it, they're a bit too expensive to buy for a nostalgia hit now unfortunately!
My dad was a carpenter when I was a kid. He once had a lot of spare floorboards that had slatted sides, through which I could slash a card. Tamers-roleplay on a budget lol.

Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to own my first and for now only Digivice-Toy which is the red D－Ark! It just feels so incredible to just hold it in my hands. I don't even have to play with it. Only to hold it, gives me an amazing feeling.

Hey, great video once again. I hope Crunchyroll continues to give us the series in their original forms - I'd love to see Tamers in the original Japanese. If you're in the market for suggestions, I've been looking at some of the complete train wreck, missed-the-point translations of Digimon names - Sukamon is meant to be Scummon, for example - due to 'translators' seemingly forgetting that Japanese doesn't have the same sounds as English, so when writing English words in Japanese they just have to 'make do' sometimes... Boltboutamon is a prime example!

Funnily enough, "suka" means both "vinegar" and "vomit" in Filipino depending on the pronunciation, so when I was watching the Tagalog dubs, the name made so much sense to me as a kid. 😅

Functionally I want the v-tamer one with a card slash feature and that will be my favorite. I love the og adventure digivice for it's mystery and simplicity, but I want that design on my arm with a digimodify slot.

Sorry.....but my heart sunk that the Fusion Loader didn't even scratch the tail-end of the list. Even though I watched the re-runs of the original 2 seasons back in the early 2010's as my introduction to Digimon, but Fusion was my baby. It was my series. I love the design of the Fusion Loader, even if it doesn't get near the use in-show as it should.
Its the V-Tamer Digivice for me, for all the reasons you mentioned you liked it. The narrative aspect of using it to input commands into your Digimon is what I think a Digivice should be, rather than the kids just sort of standing there as their monsters fight. The D-Arc with Card Slash does this too, and would be my second pick, but to me the cards just kind of feel like an unnessesary middle-man to what the V-Tamer Digivice does.
I kinda like how the AppliDrive brought a level of physicality that hadn't been seen in Digivice-like objects in quite some time. It's just a shame it was attached to Applimon of all things.

I loved the D-ark, I owned one that was FULL blue and I mean like not even debuted in the Anime at all but as a toy it was a full blue but based on the golden one from Takato since it had also these Digi Symbols around the screen. Gave it away to my friend as she collected that kind of merch. I do regret that decision now but hey I did something good back then since my friend hardly got any merch and this full blue D-Ark one I got was brought when I was in thailand and they had that.
I love digimon and I like your page, but two things.
1) D-Scanners gotta be in the top 5. They are very similar to the original atleast from V2 just a bit more mature, and also a lot more cellphone like especially at the time (07 in America).
2)Frontier also kinda has twin digidestined with light and dark. That’s all I’ll say on that. They also have different forms like beast mode and hybrid mode, which you most likely know about. It’s just a cool different take and it’s something that would be cool in 02 with the armored digievolutions. If you have not watched that season please watch it!

kinda cool and interesting list, it's like listing and reviewing pokeballs - but for Digimon context- I barely knew most of these Digivices existed
I am writing my own script for a digimon show and the digivice is going to be called the D-gauntlet or D-vambrace, as the name implies it is an arm worn digivice and I just think it's a cool concept. I also plan on inputting some stuff from Kizuna like the bond clock.
As child I used to think the antenna on the calssic digivice was a trigger to evolve your partner Digimon.
I think this idea comes from how they used to hold them.

While the original is my favorite in part due to nostalgia, I would want an IC or one of the Digivices featured in the Cyber Sleuth games for the ability to store your Digimon like a Pokeball. One recurring struggle with Digimon was keeping them a secret, especially from parents and these just eliminate that entirely, unless your Agumon 2006 version is for some reason too big. (That gag made no sense to me.)
Not only that, but some Digimon are either unsafe to have in certain places or too big and this allows you to take your partner places that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to go with them. Probably not a wise idea to take your Meramon to the wax museum, for instance.
Plus it is just easier to carry than lugging your partner around and saying they are a toy if asked.
I have a friend who hates the Digivice from the 3rd season with Takato and the gang. His only reason for it is that used a card, can't remember exactly what he used, I think it was a tcg card, but he managed to slice his fingers and give himself a paper cut. Its how on my birthday I got myself a green digivice from that season lol

I agree with your list and so want a D-Arc one day. Its gonna be hard to get one, but still.
The 01 arm mounted is really cool. And the transmitting commands? Really sells a combination of digimon being both partner and data.
But the D-Ark is also my perfect digivice. It's got the smoothest integration of purpose and functionality and design in the anime (Yeah, Anime-only XD Need to read the mangas honestly). The D-scanner tried but... it really comes across as being a bit too clunky? Like, where do they keep those things? And seriously, the scanning and radar features of the D-Ark (and even the name D-Ark/D-Power) are perfect.
When you start on the vpets the pendulum cycle is my personal favorite it makes me feel like a actual digi destined getting my favorite/partner digimon mushmon to mega then when it’s time to sleep goes back to rookie feels like a real adventure

also other of my favorite is Appli Driver, well it has same feature to Xros Loader but it can reload one Appmon.

I agree on the tamers digivice that is my favourite digivice of all time because of the card swipes to boost digimon and such even think of having my own custom made to how it would feel if I was a tamer with my own digimon
I never realised the original Digivice had an antenna. I always thought it was a button. I do t know what I thought it did… but it makes sense that it’s an antenna because hey, it was the nineties!
What do you think of the applidrive duo which is an upgrade version of the applidrive. I start to warm up to the applidrive because the toy can fuse any appmon chip you have and you might get an evolve appmon when fusion

Debating digivices to me is always a matter of design vs function. I personally find the d scanner to be the coolest. Smartphone digivice from kizuna and the d cyber are honorable mentions as well. But the kizuna smartphone digivice sadly never got a v pet version (and in all fairness I'm not sure how Bandai could pull it off properly without being some kind of app), and the d cyber while looking cool, the d scanner looks more practical and the scan function was pretty cool. The only downside to the d scanner was it was associated to a controversial season and in a v pet perspective, it was sold as a sort of pokemon game where you have more than one digimon partner but the rest was pretty flawless.
My top three are D3, D-Ark, and Digivice 01.

I lost my collection years ago, sadly, but didn't the D3 have a feature where it would supposedly read radio waves from a nearby antenna or something? Or am I totally misremembering?
Also, not a digivice, but Bandai of Asia did have a wrist-mounted device way back when with a spring-loaded screen cover and I forget what features in it. I thought it was the next best thing to having an actual 01 Digivice toy. :p

Question: The digivices always have buttons on them but, I've only seen them used once. In Season 2, mimi changed which time zone she was in. Have any one the other seasons actually pressed any of the buttons? Not counting the reboot because Izzy upgraded the new devices so they probably press buttons to use scan or communication functions.
The dub says the smartphone digivice is an artificial digivice created by Izzi. Meant as future replacements in the event their originals would fail. With additional features merged in from the d3, the d-terminal and other programs created by Izzie.
i see it as Toei animation attempting to create an universal digivice for future series. In the cyber sleuth universe, it seems like all digivices are meant to be universal. Just available in different smart-device appearances.

Sucks that the frontier digivice isn't that high, idk if its pure bias on my end but that digivice just seems right to me. Looks like it'll fit in your hand perfectly like how you'd hold a smartphone. Also the d scanners were flip phones originally lol so kinda there right? I do agree that card slashing was amazing and it made me want to get trading cards

I still have my dark d3 but I'm going to have to agree with you with the D Arc was the best one because of that factor it allowed the owner to feel like they were an actual Tamar the point where I came up with my own Digimon when I was a kid and I still think about him raptormon a member of the metal Empire and nature spirits think about it a velociraptor from Jurassic Park but had the Brute plasma rifle from Halo 2 on his arms and he was connected to the crest of gluttony because I thought if there is a crest for the digidestined why couldn't there be a set of crests or something for the seven demon Lords and I always thought Beelzemon was awesome and I decided my original Digimon would be connected to his Crest doesn't digivolve into him but the mega form was similar his name was Xth (10th) mon. Carried two guns similar to the main character from dot hack gu in his final form but looked more Fox like
