the reason why he wanted to keep the glove on is the same reason why he began wearing it in the first place. vitiligo usually begins it’s spread at the fingertips- and that did happen in MJ’s case- causing him to always wear the glove to avoid media slander
he didn't wear wigs until the 90's. post burn accident he used his own hair to mask the spot after initially having a surgery to reduce the size of the spot. He then wore extensions from the Bad era
Yes the wigs weren't till the 90s. Do you think on his dangerous and history tour that he was wearing a wig or extensions ? It looks like his real hair on those tours.
MJ didn't have natural hair since Off The Wall, he had expensive Indian weave full of product. The last time you saw him with his actual hair is on the cover of the Thriller album, it's a totally different texture. There is absolutely nothing you can put in black hair to make it swing the way it was swinging around the time of this accident.
If I could build a time machine, I’d go back in time to stop this burn from happening and also warn MJ about all the snakes in his life and tell him to avoid anyone with the last name Chandler.
I would do the same because I love ❤️ Michael so much I’m getting Jheri Curls in honor of him in memory of Michael Joseph Jackson forever 4 life May he Rest In Peace ✌🏾 ☮️

January 27 1984, the day Michael Jackson was supposed to die. I can't help but think it was staged because no celebrity ever reached that height of fame. On the 6th take, the explosives were closer to him, more powerful and they went off too early. It just sounds so staged. He was so lucky to survive that. They say if he was on fire for 10 more seconds, he would've died. Like it says in the video, he was later diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus that same year. And you can tell he started struggling with vitiligo that year because he suddenly looked a lot lighter in 1984, because he was wearing light makeup to mask it. The lupus also started giving him complications with his nose, and it made him lose more hair, including his eyebrows and eyelashes, and that forced him to wear even more makeup. 1984 was when he started looking different because of all these different things that were suddenly happening to him all at once. He wasn't trying to be white. Vitiligo, lupus and the burn accident started ruining his appearance and he was trying his hardest to look as normal as possible. 1984 was really a pivotal moment in his life (Not to mention the burn accident was exactly half his life...no I am not kidding, January 27 1984 is the EXACT middle date between his birth and death. Is that just a coincidence?). It's rumored the vitiligo became worse because of the medication he was taking for the scalp pain, which he endured up until his death and often couldn't sleep because of it. This one event changed his whole entire life. Edit: He was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus in 1986.
@@channe3049 Yeah that aint it. More like 25 years as dark and 25 years as light. Saying he was "white" is offensive to black people with vitiligo. It's also 25 years of rising and 25 years of declining.
Omg😨 so sad he endure so much pain..and another pain he experienced was when in the year of 1986 when the love of his life Diana Ross got married. He got so depressed😥
Exactly! He was roughly 25 1/2 years old when that happened and roughly 25 1/2 years later when he was 50 about to turn 51 he died. That is no coincidence.
I have never been able to shake the feeling that this incident was not an accident. It was the catalyst for so much turmoil. He really had to endure so much throughout his life 😢
It makes me sad that people keep saying this was the "beginning of the end" for Michael. Do you know how many brilliant albums we got after this happened? I understand why everyone is saying it bc it was truly what cost him his health. But the accident didn't kill him and he definitely got physically stronger after that.
Lupus breaks down the body. He oftentimes had to do shows in spite of the severe pain. He mentioned it in interviews that he is in constant pain but he's doing it for the fans. He was strong willed, but his body was struggling to keep up.
As successful as he was, Michael Jackson’s life really was tragic, becoming one of the biggest artists ever while struggling with a skin disorder and then becoming hated by the media the next decade while being accused of one of the worst crimes a person could be accused of…. Gotta give him props tho because as fucked up as this my sound, it’s a miracle he even made it to age 50 and even in death, he’s still being ridiculed
Pepsi gave him pain for the whole life , but when Michael saw burnt patients and their pain in the hospital ..he forgot his pain and spread more love in the world... What a wonderful humanitarian 🙏🙏
OMG I remember this. I was sitting in the front row and I’ll never forget the look on MJ’s face as he realized the pain from the fire. I saw him shortly after and he showed me the burn which looked like a pellet burned into his scalp. I felt awful for him because it looked so painful, but he brushed it off as something he would overcome. What a guy!
my worst nightmare is seeing michael hurt... im not just a fan, i care about him, i truly do... poor michael... i wish i had lived in the 80's and when you entered the hospital i would be near you holding your hand all the time and saying things will be okay. it sounds weird, but i care for him.
I burned my hand 🤚 as a child with fiery oil 🔥 14 years ago. I still remember how devastatingly painful 😖 that was... I can't imagine it being on the scalp... Anyway my hand never fully recovered since. Even if it was treated for many months.
I got a chemical burn when I was 19 from helping my friend on her dad's farm on my scalp (backside where your top meets your back ) From liquid that fell it also went on a part of my neck ...it was painful much more on my neck (got a small scar) but it went numb but my hair never grew the same and I got bald spot that spread out but I still wear braids
This incident changed his life forever, it gave his so much pain, he was in so much pain on top of that people where insulting because of his looks.. In one interview he said I a heart and I have feelings too, whenever people say bad about me i feel it.. He was so sensitive...people made fun of him by saying he wears wig, what is wrong in wearing a wig? he had reason for that, he was so hardworking , I feel how lonely he was...
Bob Giraldi was responsible for Michael Jackson's traumatic head injury that could've penultimately ended his life and/or career. It kicked started his vitiligo, lupus, and alopecia which was in remission making his health in the ongoing years until his untimely demise go from bad to worse.
@@andrewforte3852 He already had vitiligo and lupus by the Destiny era, there's pictures of him and everything. But I agree, this traumatic experience would cause a spiral trend of sadness and great pain in Michael's life. This "accident" didn't seem so accidental to me. That last take was unnecessary, and the use of a prior take for the released version only proves it.
He did, in some way. There's an account from a cameraman of a take from him doing that 1997 Diane Sawyer interview and a lamp behind him went off and exploded by accident. It wasn't near him to do any damage, but the sound of the bang and the glass breaking sent Michael to dive under a desk for cover. Shaken, he left the set and Michael's agents put off filming the interview until the next day.
@@batmanarkhamvengeancetm6358 With all due respect you need to read my words carefully, I already knew he had lupus DISCOID lupus actually which I clarified was in REMISSION, that's why Michael was very particular about his diet even fasting on Sundays, so the TRAUMATIC incident triggered everything that was ambivalently dormant.
@@DTownNash Bob Giraldi who directed BEAT IT, was bitter toward Michael Jackson for choosing John Landis, whom directed the landmark short film THRILLER, even his behavior at the American Music Awards was unusual, twice he approached the stage appearing disheveled and inebriated, it was as if he was attempting miserably to steal Michael's shine.
Remember, Michael wrote in his Moonwalker autobiography that he had pepsi seize all copies of the accident and gave them to him. He was the only person with that footage. So when he passed, who released it? The estate? Things that make you go hmmm?

Fun facts about Brotman Medical - the hospital that treated MJ: - The burn unit closed just 3 years later after the 1.5 million donation from Michael Jackson - I worked at that hospital in 2015. It's now called Southern California Hospital - Culver City. That place is one of the crappiest/rundown hospitals I've ever worked at and I've worked at nearly 10 of them in the LA area. Just look at their reviews online. There is no way they are regulations compliant. Somebody higher up in the state and/or government wants them to stay open. The roof on the older building had leaks all over when it rained. They spent over a million trying to open an L&D and never managed to get it open because they can't get their shit together. Horrible place.
Unfortunately Brotman was the closest trauma center to the set location. I agree, Brotman was awful and when this first happened, I'd wished he could have been taken to Cedars instead. He could have been airlifted there. Very strange "circumstances" surrounding the whole event.
Wooow they took him to one of the shittiest hospitals around. You’d think he would get the first class treatment straight to cedars Sinai for Peet’s sake even my common folk self was born there i understand it was the closest but it was a burn he wasn’t bleeding out.. that puts the cherry on the cake for my thoughts on this incident being set up.
Here's a better question. Who directed the pyrotechnician to set off the pyro early on the 6th take? Why wasn't that person reprimanded? The fire marshall too.
The accident changed his life forever. EDIT I DIDNT KNOW THIS COMMENT WAS GOING TO FET 137 LIKES! ONE DAY I WOKE UP AND CHECKED THIS COMMENT AND IT HAD 72 LIKES HOW AMAZING!
Totally agree, the American people were brainwashed into believing that the "White" is Michael when they were 2 different people Michael Jackson 1958 - 1985
Mike don't need to come back because majority of people treated him like shit when he was here. If he were still here I'm pretty sure he'd still be getting the same treatment. It's best that he is gone so he can finally be at peace.
Pepsta Lynn agree . I’m glad I’m not the only person that didn’t forgot how shunned MJ was when he was alive . I remember if you even said Michael Jackson’s name before he died in the early 2000’s it was a crime ...
@Kristine Jackson Because the media controlled everyone's lives in the 2000s. Most people thought he was guilty in the 2000s because the media was constantly condemning him to be guilty, but we know better now.
this event caused a ripple effect- i have no doubt that he would still be alive if this never happened. he would have never got hooked on drugs and his surgeries would be of a lower number. however, the saying everything happens for a reason applies as his struggles in life added more depth to his music (and we would have never got the song morphine)! however i do believe he would have been happier if it had never happened
I have been reading alot about Micheal Jackson's life. Yes, he is, without a doubt, the best performer in the world. It breaks my heart to think that he went through so much in his 50 years on earth. He made millions and millions and millions of people very happy with his enteretaining and his songs and music. I hope that when he met his Maker, all the sadness in his life went away. Why did so many people make such a big deal about his life..etc...Micheal Jackson left all of us wonderful memories. He may have done weird things.but haven't we all done that too? Where ever you are, Micheal Jackson, I love you and will continue listening to your wonderful music and watch your videos....love you lots..from Elaine
First vitiligo then he burned his hair then he had lupus and the nosy media made it worst and if he didn't burn his hair he would be alive because burning his hair will result in his painkiller addiction and his painkiller addiction caused his death 2 months before his 51st birthday.
This event actually happened pretty much exactly at the half way point of his life too. Michael Jackson lived 18,563 days. August 29th, 1958 - June 25th, 2009. That’s 18,563 days. This event occurred January 27th, 1984. That’s 9,282 days after the day he was born. Divide 18,563/2 and you get 9,281.5. Crazy.
18,563 days sounds so short when you think about it. I remember doing some online age calculating thing a few years back and was surprised that I had only been alive for the amount of days it said ( I forget the exact number but I somehow had always thought the number would be in the higher thousands or even close to a million) when you think about the fact MJ died at age 50 and that's only over 18,000 days....? It just makes life seem even shorter than it already is. Even though 50 is still young, too young to die still the point stands. At least for me personally. It sounds like nothing, especially considering how long earth has been around.
ROYALLY PISSED OFF! I think he used certain pyrotechnics and stood a certain distance from them you could see that in this place hotel in the victory tour or the bad tour
He was a great distance from the pyro but you would think after that Pepsi incident that he would never wanna use pyro again but he still used them in his shows.

This is horrible to watch he didn't deserve this kind of treatment especially when he got ten a bit older he was accused of molesting children he wouldn't touch any kids at all shame on those people for accusing him like that we miss you Michael at least you are in peace at were your at
I wonder if the burns and the traumatic event could trigger his vitiligo and lupus. Maybe external and internal stress could have triggert it. Michael Jackson stated that his vitiligo started after Thriller and maybe around the time of the burns. Maybe I am just telling bullcrap but maybe it all started with the burns, the body can react under severe stress.
In Jermaine's book he wrote that Michael actually first found a white spot on his torso in his teens but it didn't start to affect the rest of his body until the 80s. Jermaine also had a white spot on his thigh that a doctor diagnosed as vitiligo but it just never spread for him. It doesn't seem that far fetched to me that the burns and the events that followed could have triggered the vitiligo to spread for Michael along with his lupus.
One of medication side effects is skin lightening and also depression can increase and skin condition if u have it mj said in Oprah's 1993 interview that vitilligo started after off the wall so the pressure of music business and the burn definently increased it
@@nalukubafatuma2900 Ow I thought that he said to Oprah that it started after Thriller, that would also be around the period when he burnt his scalp in 1984
yeah, that is sooo sure 🤦🏽♂️, bc no way other things could have happened like... him falling from a lift on stage, him suffering from Lupus and the joint pain that goes with it, him doing so much sports (=> dancing, extreme moves)...
The fact that he didn’t feel the fire burning his head is amazing- like bro I get burned by a dot of fire and it lights up my life. Be setting my soul on fire. Him over here causally just singing and dancing down the steps with fire on his head-
Plus, do you know how hot it is next to these spot lights, and repeated pyro shots... it can take those 2 seconds to realize why your head is getting hotter.... especially if you're totally focussed on your act, on top.
What happened to the producer?!He should take full responsibility for nearly killing MJ!! Wasn't he that creepy guy that came up on stage while MJ was receiving an award?! I remember reading in MJ'S biography that MJ was thankful that the fire didn't hit his face. I nearly cried reading that. I heard also that MJ was threatened to be killed from the age of 12. He must've feared for his life his whole life, yet he gave so much to the whole world!! Not only through music, but also through his enormous humanitarian work! He is truly a multitalented warm hearted great man!! Miss him so much!!
So sad. Changed him forever. This is why he wore wigs and hair extensions because it burned off part of his hair leaving bald spots. I hope it got better over time and didn't cause a lot of pain
Can you imagine being a diehard fan, seeing your idol emerge on stage and his head is on fire and he’s just moving along like everything is ok? That’s gotta be traumatizing.
09:19 I remember the stories about this photo... People went crazy... They talked about it everywhere... It was also said that he was an alien and he needed a different environment...
He was so beautiful. I'll never understand why some people feel so insecure about themselves to change so much.. You're perfect just the way you are! Never let anyone else make you feel any different!! 💜🦋💜🦋💜🦋
I believe sometime during HIStory, since his hairstyle changed the most drastically at random moments. Like, he kept the signature curly ponytail for performances, but he wore a long with in his primetime interview with LMP. Adding on, he had short hair in his VMA performance.
Ok let's get this straight, his doctors said the only way to cover the spot was with his own hair, in the victory tour he covered the bald spot with his own hair, but the bald spot kept growing bigger since he had lupas to and that affects the hair and makes it fall out so basically it made the bald spot worse, so he wore a hair extension to cover it up so in the bad video he wore hair extensions to make his hair look longer, he wore extensions until 1993 and 1994 he started wearing full on lace front wigs, he wore wigs ecer since then, in his autopasy it said "the decandents hair was sparse and connected to a wig". And in the 2000 you could kinda tell he wore wigs and he suffered a reciting hairline to. What else do you guys expect he burned his hair of course hes gonna wear wigs just let this poor man rest in peace. And dont even try arguing with me I just said all of this. R.I.P MJ The King Of Pop

25 years as black and 25 years as white.
@@channe3049 Yeah that aint it. More like 25 years as dark and 25 years as light. Saying he was "white" is offensive to black people with vitiligo. It's also 25 years of rising and 25 years of declining.

That's a fact they wanted that to happen it was all a setup 💯🤷♂️
Exactly! He was roughly 25 1/2 years old when that happened and roughly 25 1/2 years later when he was 50 about to turn 51 he died. That is no coincidence.

It was. On the other hand, I don't believe that Pepsi did enough to ensure Michael's safety.
It makes me sad that people keep saying this was the "beginning of the end" for Michael. Do you know how many brilliant albums we got after this happened? I understand why everyone is saying it bc it was truly what cost him his health. But the accident didn't kill him and he definitely got physically stronger after that.
Wrong
It was though.
Because it kick started his drug dependency, and he had life long lasting physical effects after that incident.
Yes that was the end of real Michael Jackson and start for Frank Jaspin.

Weirdly, this accident falls exactly in the middle of his life. Not just on a scale of year or month, but to-the-day, the middle of his life. Crazy!

Bob Giraldi was responsible for Michael Jackson's traumatic head injury that could've penultimately ended his life and/or career.

Fun facts about Brotman Medical - the hospital that treated MJ:
- The burn unit closed just 3 years later after the 1.5 million donation from Michael Jackson
- I worked at that hospital in 2015.

I just want to say how much I loved Michael Jackson : so I was born in 2015 and now we are in 2024 sorry I can't say my age here in 2015 when I was born I didn't know who Michael was but me at the age of 3 my parents had songs on about him because they loved him too and were a fan of him and they are still a fan of him and very sad that he died me at the age of three I loved his music too but my parents decided to tell me that he actually is dead and a drug killed him I started seeing videos of him all over of TH-cam I hated those people who are always criticizing Michael Michael I love you so much I love you infinite percent you are the Best Michael we never wanted you to die I feel so sad I'm crying right now guys show Michael the love and support he deserves he is always so nice but one time on the news there was a person that asked him what is a 35 year old man doing a sleeping with a 12 year old boy Michael refused to believe that he slept with a 12-year-old Michael is a good person he would never have sex with a child he is too innocent he would never sleep with a kid never ever I hate those people who are always criticizing him for changing his skin color but he never wanted to change his skin color when Michael was a kid and a teenager his skin was brown but people were criticizing him because when he started turning into a adult his skin started turning white people thought he was trying to change his skin color and being racist but he never was he had this skin problem when he was born sorry I don't think I can say what his skin problem was it doesn't let me sorry but Michael had this huge skin problem that I was changing his skin color to white people stop criticizing him 🤬Michael is too innocent he would never do anything bad I swear to God whoever shooted those damn fireworks too early I want to kill them oh wait they're already dead haha but Michael we all love and support you we never ever wanted you to die I'm sorry Michael guys show love and support to him he deserves it for a nice guy he is rest in peace Michael I love you so much❤😭❤😭😭❤😭❤😭❤❤😭
