  • Where did the user come from that signed up to our forms or subscribed to the newsletter? We can port this information from when the user first enters our page into a hidden form field and then store it in our CRM system. In this video we are going to discover how it can be done.
    Steps:
    Tag your URLs with UTM Parameters
    Add a custom field in your CRM or Email Tool
    Add a hidden form field to your signup forms
    Install the provided GTM Tracking Template that will capture the UTM information and store it in a cookie
    Customize the Form Fill option

    this is a god send thank you so much dude. Question - I was under the understanding that when a users enters a landing page via UTM code that cookies continue to follow them even when they browse to different pages, isnt that how Google Analytics works? Ie a user enters via GooglePPC Source/medium and once leaving the page, GA still follows them via cookies? Wouldn't this mean there is no need to add the GTM "Set Cookie" tag/trigger?

    • @MeasureSchool
      @MeasureSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, GA sets cookies that follow on that particular domain. Not other websites.

      @@MeasureSchool no i meant different pages on the same domain

      When setting up UTM and a user enters the initial landing page, doesnt GA follow the rest of their session on the same website? Or do you lose them once they navigate?

    Thank you for this Julian. Can you explain how to set it up so if a value already exists in 'source', to not overwrite that value? Example: I want to track only the original source. I follow your instructions on the first form that a contact fills out, and source gets added. If that same user comes back in the future and fills out a second form on my site, how can I prevent the source from the 2nd form from over-writing what already exists from 1st form? Many thanks.

      Hi Nick, I have done a video about this a few years ago, you can have a look here:
      th-cam.com/video/jWnJKmAFcVg/w-d-xo.html
      This will track every traffic source of the user. Hope it can help you.

    I don't get a UTM Source from the Storage/Cookies result. What am I missing and how do I make sure the UTM information is added to the URL?

    Hi, can you please make a video or answer here how you can achieve the same results but for MailChimp pop-up forms - Is it possible? :)

    • @MeasureSchool
      @MeasureSchool  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      as long as the pop-up form is on your own page (not in an ) it should be possible

      I am working on a Squarespace website, the parameters they suggest to track info on hidden forms is
      ?SQF_SOURCE=facebook
      However, I want to integrate analytics as you mention in this email. I followed steps but I see tags not fired "set cookie"

    Following the same logic, we can track any utm parameter right?)
