      @@EDDBUD Hi Edd, I wore the Fast-r at Dublin and finished with a time of 3.30 which was a big pb for me, the comfort was supreme start to finish! If I do a marathon next year (when😁) I don't know if I'd wear these again, or buy AAAP3 because I love the TS8 for 5/10k, or go for Endo Pro 3 or VP2 as they are super light weight while Fast-r & AAAP3 are lightweight? Do you agree that Lightstrike Pro pops off the tarmac, while with Zoomx you squish in squish out and the Puma is somewhere in between. Last of all the Puma DN Elite is the lightest but only has 1mm more foam in the forefoot than the TS8, so not sure that has the stack for a marathon? Sorry to ramble but these are the questions going round in my head. Don't worry if you don't get time to answer, alternatively may make a good video as I can't be the only one that knows the exact shoe for every distance apart from the marathon - too much choice!

    Hi Edd - off topic, but something you and others may find interesting.
    I fell in love with the Endorphin Pro 3s from my first run, and put in 80 glorious KMs the 4 weeks before Dorney Lake marathon on Sunday. I noted Meagan from BeliveInTheRun gave them a positive review, but she also didn’t think they would work for marathon distance because she found the carbon plate too aggressive, and they started to hurt from 15 miles onwards. However, I dismissed this because every other review was so glowing, and my 2 x 25k runs in them had gone so well.
    Guess what happened?
    By mile 20 the Pro 3s had destroyed my feet and calfs to the point that I couldn’t even jog, and had to walk home. I can’t explain the pain, but just know that 3hrs 35mins pace turned in to a 4:05 finish. I’m writing this just to make people aware that it may not work for them past 30k, so make sure you’ve tried going really long in them before a race.
    Don’t get me wrong, it’s 100% the best super-shoe I’ve ever worn (Alphafly is way too narrow & Vapor way too unstable for me beyond 5k), but I will never go beyond a half marathon in the Pro 3 ever again!!!
    On a side note, a review of the best non-plated marathon shoes would be amazing 🙂🤜🤛

      Your comment just made me very anxious as I’m planning to use the Pro 3 for my upcoming marathon. I took them for a ~25k run and loved them but I’m tapering and won’t be able to test them with anything longer between now and race day. Did the pain come on all at once at mile 20?

    • @na1582
      @na1582 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PatrikHowreally sorry to make you anxious. It could of course just be specific to me / my running style, but the fact BelieveInTheRun mentioned the same thing made me post on here too. I reckon I stated to feel it shortly after the I passed the half marathon stage at around 23k, but I wasn’t worried as I was obviously running a bit harder than I’d run in my 2 long runs. Looking at my splits on Strava, I started getting really concerned around 28k, but I kept a decent enough pace until just after 20 miles until the pain became so bad i had to jog/walk, and then just walk. It was exactly the same issue with both feet and both calves at more or less the same time 😓

    Your comments on the stability was interesting. I overpronate with my left foot and really struggle with the narrow soft heel in my Nike ZoomFly 4s. I've stayed away from 'super-shoes' because of that but maybe this or the Endorphin Pro would be worth a go! Cheers for the vids!

    The New Balance Rebel 2 has off set lacing. I think the idea is to take the pressure off the top of the foot, I’ve got Vapor fly 1 and 2 and the Rebel 2 and it works well for me .

    Sounds like a great half marathon shoe. I remember wearing things like Nike LT for marathons so all these shoes that are out now have a way bigger stack than older shoes. Kind of funny that if a shoe isn't 34-50mm stack it's not a marathon shoe. Puma isn't big here, but I'd lie to try some of their racers.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a great shoe. No issue on a half. Need a longer run though for marathon confirmation. Though any shoe could/could not work over the mysterious marathon.

    • @cakej1
      @cakej1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EDDBUD At 44 years old I definitely enjoy the higher stack shoes now, but 15-20 years ago any shoe would do. Kind of scary I raced most of my marathons in shoes with 20mm or so stack. No way that was good for my legs. But I ran pretty fast.

    Hey Edd, off topic but I've gotten curious about your opinions on electronic dance music since hearing you give d&b recommendations. I'm mainly just a big trancehead (the classic 90's and 00's style, currently particularly into the goa style but has to be pre ~2005) but appreciate some classic house and techno as well. How familiar are you with these genres?

    I live in New Zealand and these shoes don't seem to exist here. The Puma NZ website, plus the US and EU versions don't have them to buy at all!
