If Engels was a 21yo that came through the academy people would be raving about him every week and saying he was worth 25m. His form is a bit up and down and he's not the finished article, but if he was, we wouldn't be signing him for 11m, he'd be worth 50m and going to Chelsea or City
If he came through our academy he wouldn’t get a game and would go down south. Need to play our academy players more. Who was last one to come through and play ?
Absolutely mental take. Has caetainly dipped in form in recent couple months, but he's comfortably the best passer in the team and only have to recall the Leipzig match to know just how good he really is. Not to mention BR has him help lead the press consistently with Kyogo up top so not sure what else he's supposed to do off the ball to make the fans happy. Even O'Reilly had dips in form last season for us but in the end the quality shines through. As much as I love McGregor, there's been numerous times this season too where the game has passed him by but haven't seen him cop any abuse the likes of our foreign players like Bernardo, Engels or Hatate have. Usual shite like 'hes too lazy' 'doesnt look interested...' leveled at anyone not Scottish
@@connturk6734 its absolutely mental that youre saying thats a mental take. ive watched every celtic game bar 1 this season and hatate has been appalling all round. his stats were 64% passing accuracy and he was/is losing the ball 20x a game by getting knocked/bullied off the ball and wayward passing. the first time i got totally fed up with it was the falkirk game this season. hes not got any better and the performances against rangers, the loss in particular was as bad as against falkirk. losing the ball 20x a game. the tactics that managers/teams are coming against us now means hatate losing the ball means it puts us directly under pressure in the middle of the park. even in our own half. if you dont believe me go look at the stats yourself or go watch extended highlights. hatate in particular is the biggest liability in our team right now. engels plays better on the left side of the pitch where hatate plays anyway, thats where arne got his 3/4 motm's recently. arne is way tougher with the ball, drives forward and is way more accurate and dynamic with his passing/throughballs. now you could say mccowan lost the ball 20x equally but he does it in the opponents final 3rd which doesnt put us directly under pressure like hatate does.
Highest quality fan channel on TH-cam. Absolute Goldilocks channel. Not a massively overproduced attempt at sky sports news, trying to churn out talking points for secondary channel clips… Not 4 lads who have a “second team”, talking into their flip phones. It’s always well fleshed out, articulate opinions from die hard Celtic and Scottish football fans. High quality video and audio. Incredible consistency. Genuinely can’t remember the last game that didn’t come with all the CFTV trappings. There are times now when things will happen in a game and me and my Da will settle our argument with “right, well we will see what the lads say on the post match pint then”. You have taken this to a level where it has become a big part of a lot of our fan experiences. You’re a credit to yourself and you do a great service to the club, and to the fans. Keep up the good work 🍀
Especially Kenny but Paul knows that. There's been plenty of praise for Kenny and his contributions post match (me included). Hopefully 3 points on Wednesday now to secure a playoff tie.

It's one of the special things about this channel, which keeps us loyal to you. --> About Engels: It's too bad that De Bruyne retired just as Arne was coming into the senior team. Of course, De Bruyne's absence helps Engels get into the squad. But, he could really have benefited from being in training with De Bruyne.
Half our support turning into Real Madrid season ticket holders ! I’d rather we got behind the team we support ..obviously I’m a man that has seen this club finish 5th and watched the old rangers win 9 Enjoy what we are privileged enough to watch most weeks
Kilmarnock goal was correct to stand Paul. As long as it is not deliberate & the hand/arm is in a natural position, and the player that it hits is not the person that scores. This is the rules, no controversy here. If we put our chances away the game is over by halftime.
The way our fans turn on the big money signings if they aren't scoring 3 goals a game is crazy. Those fans allow the board to go back to buy cheap and hope
engels just had 3/4 motm performances in a row wtf are people seeing?? issue is hatate is shite and a liability and engels best performances come on the left hand side of the pitch where hatate plays.
I have absolutely no doubt that we will raise our game for Wednesday. We are kind of going through the motions sometimes and need a bigger challenge. Chances missed on Saturday will not be missed on Wednesday
wtf is everyone on about here, engels got 3/4 motm performances in a row!! if anyone actually watches and pays attention to the game youll notice that arnes best performances have been coming on the left hand side of the pitch.. the side that hatate keeps on taking the space of. hatate is the biggest liability in our squad.engels doesnt lose the ball 20x a game, is way more accurate with the ball and is way more physical. he doesnt get the ball robbed off him in our own half putting us under pressure instantly.
Paul, part of Brendan's PR.is that he's a manager who develops players. If we create 2 columns, one for improved and one for unchanged/worse who would get into each column? In the unchanged or worse I would put Kyogo, Hatate, Bernado, Idah Palma, Schmeichel, McGregor then players not good enough to make it as first team regulars unless injuries select them like Welsh and Ralston. Then there ghosts like Nawrocki. Improved column I'd put Maeda, Scales, Taylor, CCV, AJ, Kuhn, Forrest, Engels?, Yang? Too soon to tell is McCowan, but promising.
Appreciate the highlighting my comment, I’m not saying Engels isn’t a good player I’m saying he fluctuates between being really good and being pretty poor, he just has to improve his consistency 👍🏻🍀
Our fans can be mental sometimes. Chasing players like Hatate out the club because he's had a dip in form is absolutely mental. Think the whole team has been in a bit of a slump for past month and a half or so, but the abuse the likes of Hatate, Engels and even Bernardo that I've come across is mind boggling to me. Same lazy arguments and body language experts telling you that players arent interested and yada yada... The season is long and jam packed with games and people expect folks to be on tip top form all season. Even McGregor has let many a game pass him by this season but you won't see anywhere near the likes of the criticism aimed at him compared to any other of our midfielders.
hatate has been a liability since last season. listen, if a player is losing a ball in his lown half/halfway line 20x a game for a season then we should be looking to do something about it. its not jsut a dip in form its been consistent. and when its really bad it puts us under pressure, instantly. i love hatate but i love celtic more.
I think scales came on for his physicality because on Wednesday if valle is still here and i get what your saying but is rodgers really going to do that when were playing in champions league if taylor has to come off?
We weren't the biggest spenders in the 90s with the biggest transfer and wage budget, now we are hence why expectation levels are raised, so what exactly is your point?
For me with engels you can see from performances that there is a player that can & will improve, and you can see why we paid the money, a can't say the same for idah for me he doesn't look like a player that will kick on, on the handball it seems now if you are cute enough with it you can hand ball and it's OK 🤯 madness.
I actually think Bernardo, Engels, Mccowan struggle with taking the ball when someone is behind them Bernardo the best out of them they don’t know how to check their shoulders is annoying tbh
this is when they get the ball knicked off them or they play a dodgy pass cos they feel pressured cos they arent checking their shoulders as you say. hatate is the worst for it.
The notion that we wouldve paid 11.5 million for ‘ potential’ just doesnt square with any transfer business we have done in the past. Celtic historically pay 5/6 million for the finished article ( dont know what the hell happened with Idah). Just as we shouldnt jump on his back for a transfer fee he didnt set neither is his age a get out of jail card. There are players all over Europe delivering at that age. Hé may indeed improve but for me its more hope than expectation.
he got 3/4 motm performances in a row just 2 games ago so im not worried. brendan keeps playing liability hatate in the position that engels plays best on, on the left side.
I think Hatate is not i. The same class as Engels .he is flying under the radar and has been very poor for 3 months gives you 5-10 mins from 60-70 mins of play and constantly gives the ball away .and gets way to much game time That he doesn’t deserve and. Escapes the same scrutiny . I want him to leave and be sold maybe then he will realise how fortunate he was to play for Celtic and his body language is terrible
We sound like petulant spurs fans. We’re even giving the kid stick for scoring pens for Christ sakes. We come up against some good players. Remember Luke was one of these players last season.
On the Engles thing, I still don’t know what is his best position! What did we buy him to do? If it’s to replace MOR qualities then I don’t see it at all! Is he defensive is he attacking is he box to box? Just don’t know. Not saying he’s bad in the slightest because I just haven’t seen him in a postion he looks really comfortable in. Hoping next season is when we see him step up.
hatate has been poor since brendan came in, particularly this season. 64% passing accuracy and loses the ball 20x a game though getting the ball nicked off him or wayward passing, normally in our own half. putting us instantly under pressure., the negative engels comments are mental though he got 3/4 motm in a row just 2 games ago and before.
I'll be honest, I'm not seeing it with the lad, he's far too negative and cautious in his play, far too many passes sideways and backwards when it's on to go forward, rarely bursts past a player and drives with the ball to carry us up the pitch, shooting is shocking, one goal from open play in 6 months, whereas McCowan has 5 goals from open play with a fraction of the game time at a fraction of the price, was brought in to provide "pace and power" according to Brendan yet he doesn't appear quick to me, doesn't appear to be strong either, far too weak in the tackle, the age excuses are tiring, Wirtz is 21 and look at him, 21 isn't 17, he should be showing far more than he has for what we paid, I'd have Bernardo ahead of him in the starting 11 every day of the week
@onapermo I watch every Celtic game mate, I was perplexed at those MOTM awards as there were far better performances from other players on the day For example, against St Mirren, Kuhn bagged a double, yet Engels somehow was given MOTM over him instead, so how you work that out?
To play midfield for celtic you have to be able to play 360 degrees. As you say, you need to be able to take the ball in tight areas and you need to be comfortable facing any direction. I’m not saying he can’t become this, but he is not there at the moment. Still just about good enough to hold down a place for us, but improvement needed.
Engels was a waste of millions ..Scales a waste space hopeless ..Tierney a terrible move it it goes ahead guys injury prone plus he made his bed let him lay in it i say .
What did the scouts see when he was playing in Germany, they must have seen something special. Surely they didn’t say that guy has potential, let’s pay 11.5 million for him. So far he looks like a 1.5 million signing.

Engles is a raw project that needs lots of coaching. we spent a lot of money for a project.
People are way too quick to write players off Kuhn last season being the example, Engels is 21 he'll be a superb player for us in time

We are saying the same after almost every game very wasteful in front of goal and are beginning to struggle to play through a press
He was in front of the penalty are and no one would pass to him?
Up and down across that area. Nothing.
Now he knows how kyogo feels.

Engles izz all rounder
I'd put Engels in the holding midfield position & put McGregor further up the pitch for a few games & see how he plays there
I’m not sure he’s that comfortable taking the ball in tight areas with his back to goal. Neither is our captain right enough.
Wee man got every thing
I'm really surprised the BR hasn't tried 4231 formation this season, I think this would be better especially against the huns...thoughts?

And neither does Brendan or Kennedy dg

Out of position
We need to remember Engels never had a pre season with us 🤷♂️ once he has a full pre season under his belt next season he’ll be flying 🍀
So all his training sessions since he joined are meaningless compared to a pre season then?
@ where did I say that ? I said he hasn’t had a full pre season like the others have 🤷♂️
@PaulMcLean1994 Right but he's had loads of training sessions since so should he not be up to full match fitness and sharpness by now or something?

64% passing accuracy and loses the ball 15/20x a game through getting knocked off the ball fairly or wayward passing.
And Paul you mention consistency. He is consistent but not in a good way! Consistently poor, with a good game being the anomaly
