ddu-du ddu-du (or as we blinks call it, D4) is a song about hitting and shutting up haters. the words represent gunshots, hence the description of the entire song. it's also a song of boosting one's self-esteem and bringing confidence to the heart when in harsh times.
*a small theory of what the video means:*
jennie's scene(s) in the M/V: she talks about the crap people usually say about her and the rest of the members and manipulates their words to make it seem like as if she's shooting it right back at them. the badass side of her is enough to shut them up by describing how she as a person can technically overpower them even when they're trying to undermine her success. in her rap bit after the chorus, it's just her making fun of their/her haters and saying that whatever they can do, she can do better.
lisa's scene(s) in the M/V: almost the same as jennie's scene, but this time lisa's mocking their/her antis saying how she's prim and proper unlike them, she's in her element while they're not, got versatility, says she's quite matured whereas antis are behind a screen saying rubbish about her.
rosé's scene(s) in the M/V: you see two sides of her; the black and white. the white side, considering that she's been put up on a pedestal, is a perfect image of what an idol should be: composed, flawless, etc. but the black side represents what she truly is: she's not on a pedestal, she's just this human being that we all are, trying to strive in this illiberal society. the duality of this scene is also how people, who don't know her as a person and her entire life story, see her.
jisoo's scene(s) in the M/V: her scenes speak volumes, literally (not me playing on jennie's line at the beginning lol). idk about the first scene but the second scene is HUGE lmao. that scene mocks how the media views them because you can see a perfect image of her (a literal painting of her with black hair behind the real her) and men in black taking a video of the painting but NOT the real jisoo who's walking with a pink wig lol. anyways, they don't pay attention to her but when she trips and falls, implying she made a mistake, all the men, now wearing masks, points their cameras at her in a gun motion and yeah, you get the main idea of that.
