imagine my shock when vicki said at the end that a VW diesel had (quote) "a slight question mark over emissions". she saw it coming 15 years before everyone else.
EVERY producer of diesel cars did lie in a way or other, but only vw was catched. Those bullshit emission rules destroyed reliability of engines and also performances and sound
so what emissions are a scam anyway just another way the eu can stop us from having a car and being locked in a pod and eat bugs
and 8 years before the particular engine involved even existed!

Those old Volvo V70xc are perfect for snow storms and bad weather in the mid west of the USA. Perhaps not the best vehicle for commuting in England. I love mine and it has NO rust and is 18 years old now.
I had 6speed tdi golf all those years ago its was fun in fairness

5:21 Was not expecting to hear that in Top Gear.
They were a bit harsh on the Golf. I think they totally missed the point of that car. Yes it wasn't terribly exciting, but nor was it trying to be. It was more a fast luxury hatch with all the refinements of a compact executive car from the class above. To compare it in any way to an Integra type R (great car in its own way) is just silly.
Sometimes the reviewers are too stuck in their own minds about what they want a car to be rather than taking it for what it actually is.

A6 All Road beautifully engineered??!!. The myth of German engineering still persists. This car was a disaster but as with all other German brands the motoring press wears the back hander rosy tinted spectacles.

As if a 3cyl polo diesel does 40mpg. About 75mpg on paper
They must have used the figures they achieved on their test route. But everyone knows the brochure figures are not what most people will get in the real world. It was a realistic test in the sense all the cars drove the same course, even if 43mpg does sound a bit low. 50-60 was probably achieveable.
The drag race at the start would be interesting no in 2022, electric cars are now much much faster.

I can see why old top gear died, awful read tests and a weary format.
most garbage review and compare of V70 vs. allroad. Who the fuck told you that v70 cc is better offroad in ANY situation?!.. That v70 cc don't even have a PERMANENT awd, instead is ALL TIME FWD, then from time to time.. send 10-30% to rear axle.. which is almost nothing😂😂. V70 cc got way more weak engine and especially weak gearbox AND center "diff"(which in fact isn't ..) very low reliable and low performance.
