  • I've built a lot of cars over my life, but this is by far the best by a long way. I started with my '68 with a Morrison clip and a supercharged LT4, now I've dialed it back a bit for a more well rounded ride. Exceptional ride quality, steering input is dynamic and after getting the alignment done, I've reached a new level of caster at 8 degrees which is phenomenal for a 56 year old car.
    But it's not 56 years old, it's a brand new 2024 1967 Camaro done in today's Restomod fashion. As my uncle Big D use to say, "Dig it, Daddy-O."

    For mufflers, take a look at power effects, see what you think of them

    I have the L83 with a 6L80E going in my 37 Chev PU. I expect it will weigh less than your Camaro. Should be fun

      I had a '37 Coupe 20 years ago. Tried swapping in an inline 5 cylinder out of a truck. Never got it done

      Not a whole lot of room in there for a V8. You'll need to open up your tunnel for sure. Get rid of the torque tube if you haven't already.

      @@GenV_Restomods I set the engine and trans low. There was no tunnel to begin with and now it has a shallow one over the trans. Also rebuilt the firewall. You're correct, it's a tight fit. I tried to stick with the L83 front accessories but in the end I got a Holley mid mount front runner.. Running Dakota digital gauges.

    How does that 2018 camaro center console fit into that? Any modifications or you just bolted it in kinda? Thank you!

      Whole front section was cut off and modified by my upholstery guy. Still a tad to wide. Take a look at the earlier years like 2014 console. I think they would fit better. I only did it to accommodate the console shifter.

    Was this a customer build or personal? Just watched 2.5 years worth on these build videos - it was pleasure to watch it all come together!

      Personal. I only build for myself. For more info go to www.automobileman.com and download my Gen V Installation guide.

      I've built 3 Gen V Camaros over the last 3 years. I would only go with RS chassis and an original body. Even though I didn't think it was a good idea at the time, buy a really nice 40K car, then blow it apart and start the process.

    • @GenV_Restomods
      @GenV_Restomods  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No matter how you approach it, it takes about 100K just to get everything purchased, then throw another 1,000+ hrs at it to put it together and fine tune everything.

  • @searlearnold2867

    Very nice, how do you like the Real Deal Steel Body?

    • @GenV_Restomods
      @GenV_Restomods  ปีที่แล้ว

      Far superior build quality than the original. Unfortunately, the front sheet metal fits like crap. It's delivered on a pallet and requires extensive metal finishing. For 2 cars, it's over 500+ hrs for paint and body. I wouldn't do it again, I'd spend 40K on the best original car I could find, then blow it apart and start that way.

    • @GenV_Restomods
      @GenV_Restomods  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an extensive collection of body and paint videos on three separate builds. It was a long haul and very expensive.

      @@GenV_Restomods OH WOW. I had been considering a few candidates in my search that are real solid rotisserie restored cars and a couple that needed work. I think for the sake of time, you're absolutely right, no use wasting effort in the wrong places.

      I had a T56, TKO600 and just bought a TKX. Shifting is great fun, but you cannot shift like the new automatic 8L90e or the 10L90e, that's why the new C8 is an automatic. Coming out of the whole with traction control and going through 4 gears in the first 200 ft is what performance is based upon these days. That's why I went with an automatic this time around.

    Just out of curiosity,.......why choose "Glass packs" ???? Before you throw a Borla exhaust on there,......i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go have a look and listen to Black Widow mufflers. What could it hurt??? Ive been installing exhaust systems and mufflers for years. Black Widows are probably ine of the best flowing and performance mufflers out today. Just sayin'.

    • @GenV_Restomods
      @GenV_Restomods  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just thought I'd try it because there's not much room back there. It's OK, but a conventional style muffler will sound better. Normally I use Flowmaster 40's.

    The only thing better would be RS speeding up the build time

    • @GenV_Restomods
      @GenV_Restomods  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it took a long time, but I built 3 Camaros in 3 years. So 1 a year isn't too bad. 600+hrs for body/paint, trim all glass and headliner.
      1,000+ hrs of my time for everything else. $150,000 build and that's my time at $4.00/hr.
