    hey Cody! I'm a young orchestrator (1st year of university) and I've been absolutely loving your work recently, especially the love you give to french horns! Is there any chance in the future that the score for this song will be available to purchase, either digitally or printed? :)

    Hey Cody! I love your music, and your uncanny ability to combine instrumentals with sampled bits like in this tune is incredible. A question I would have relates to your voicings and use of the orchestra. I am a young student composer, and it feels like I do not have nearly the grasp on understanding how to voice the orchestra depending on the sound that I am after. I've heard a lot of "just do what sounds good" but that isn't exactly the most concrete when I struggle trusting my own abilities with something I am unfamiliar with. I have the orchestration books from Korsakov as well as Adler, however those mostly focus on the single instruments. Any words of advice you have would be so much appreciated! Anyways, excellent video and breakdown. Thanks!
    - Trey

    The first one of these videos I watched was the one on flying. I never listened to that song the same way again. I suspect it's going to be the same with Fix You. These videos just bring so much insight into the process and really bring out those parts you normally wouldn't hear. I love your music Cody, and they always give me chills (and sometimes tears)

Like, could you make a video explaining how do you put these features in your website to create this kind of listening experience to your songs such as "Fix You" and "Waltz For Sweatpants"? Thank you and would be glad if you reply in this comment. 🤗

    How do you decide when its better to arrange simultaneously/vertically and when its better to arrange successively/horizontally. I do vocal and a cappella arrangements and I always struggle with that. Obviously orchestras are different but I'd love your advice!

    • @CodyFry
      @CodyFry  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I prioritize horizontal. I think m ore about melody and lead line, so I generally find those things first and then fill in things vertically based on what the moment needs

    I saw an interview recently with a producer. I don't remember who it was, actually. Anyway, he said something that I had never really thought about before, which is something about a producer benefiting from the ability to listen to the same thing over and over again, and maintaining an ability to hear the magic in it. Not his exact words, but it's really amazing how much I not only enjoy listening to things I have recorded over and over again, but I really need to. There's probably some ego involved, but it's mostly about just hearing it and tweaking it. I appreciate your own appreciation of the cool things you're able to do.

    Hey Cody! Thanks for doing these, it's so valuable to me to be able to see the process of an amazing musician like yourself! How do the parts the musicians play in the studio change over time? Are you able to write those complex contrapuntal tutti sections in Logic with samples or do they get developed a lot in your notation software? Thanks again!
