- This is the first in the newest HOW TO: series that I will be updating weekly.
In this tutorial you will learn 3 easy steps in under 5 minutes that will teach you the basic concepts of the moonwalk. I break it down and give you close ups so you can see each detail in the movement. There's a recap at the end so you can really get it down and by the end of the video you should definitely be able to moonwalk!

MoonWalk Facts:
- Was a tap dance move that was integrated into the hip-hop dance style "Popping"
- Michael Jackson first did the moonwalk at the award show Motown 25 in 1983!
- Michael Jackson learned the Moonwalk from Derek "Cooley" Jackson and Jeffrey Daniels
- The "Moonwalk" is also known as the "Backslide"

I'm a dancer, and I've always felt slightly embarrassed that I couldn't moonwalk, it seemed so simple and I just couldn't get it. And I'm talking YEARS of embarassing failed attempts. Turns out I just needed to learn the correct starting position, and I can now add this to my repetoir!! Thank youu!! 😃
I've always wanted to learn to moonwalk. This is by far the best tutorial I've seen. Remembering the weight distribution and making it look smooth is a challenge, but once you get it all together it feels amazing. Keep practicing, I promise it's worth it. Time to play "Billie Jean" and moonwalk to the kitchen for a snack.😆

OMG, I FINALLY FOUND IT!! An easy tutorial on how to moonwalk. Always thought it was the coolest dance but have two left feet that aren't coordinated. Right now I REALLY have to concentrate on what I'm doing but I know eventually I'll get it. I LOVE TO DANCE. In one year, I'll be 70 and hope to be the coolest senior on the dance floor. This is awe inspiring. I stumbled upon this post on the 10th of March and practiced every midnight (cos that’s when I could do it without my siblings interrupting), I finally got the heck of it on the 12th got really good on the 15th. I’m so happy, now I moonwalk everywhere I go. Took me 5 days of midnight practices, yeeeeyyyyy!!!

Have always wanted to do this since the first time it made the rounds with Michael Jackson. Now as a much older Boomer, with a bum knee and wretched back, I did a few steps with your tutorial’s help. I am now fulfilled, lol! Seriously, it was great fun. Thanks for this well structured lesson. I enjoyed the way you explained the importance of weight transference and the simultaneous heel toe move. I’m 75 and recovering after learning to walk again following a fall and surgery to implant a gamma nail in my femur. Omg I can do it, but I'm inconsistent. I'll try and update as I go along.
Edit 1: Did it smoothly for about 5 seconds then it collapsed.
Edit 2: Seem to be getting worse and worse at it. I'll try again tomorrow.
DAY 2
Edit 3: I feel like I can do it more often for a longer period of time, but it still isn't perfect. I might record myself later on to see if I'm actually doing it right.

Edit 4: So someone liked this comment which reminded me to update this and to be honest I didn't really practice in those 3 weeks. But I have got a LOT better. I am able to do it consistently for a longer period of time. There are still occasional slips but I feel way better now than I did 3 weeks ago.

Edit 5: I finally mastered it! Feel like I could do it for minutes on end! By the way I am not a dancer at all. I have no experience with dancing. Heck, I could probably slip up with the Macarena. So this will probably take you guys a lot quicker than it took me so don't think that learning the moonwalk takes ages, it's just me and my trash dancing. But I've mastered it now and I'm pretty proud of myself.

Trying this out for the first time and holy crap, I’m actually getting onto it. I am in a rather confined space so I often caught myself trying to avoid ovstacles and over correcting which caused me to switch up my rhythem. I fixed this by doing it with my eyes closed, did it on a whim and wow did it make a difference to how smooth it felt.

SwitchBoy Hardwood floors like the ones in your house don’t give splinters. They’ve been sanded and prepped
