    Hey guys, I suppose this video falls under 'reliability' and although I had 2 major glitches with the CLA 45 AMG to begin with, they were sorted very quickly! Has anyone else encountered similar kinds of issues with an AMG or indeed any other performance car? Let me know down in the comments below!

    Hi Zu, first of all, thank you for posting ur video on cla45 amg, i have a 2015 gla45, and ive had a blast with it without too much issues. let me give u a few insights on what u should do with ur current sitation. to ur problems 1 by 1, always turn off eco start when ur starting ur car. lets assume shuting engine off doesnt hurt the car, it only starts to save gas after 10-15 seconds of stopping time (that is avg from few car manufacturers). i personally only manually use this function when i know i got a long light coming. when u say u have a problem after using the engine auto off, fix it at the dealership immediately, pressure them. secondly, alot of 4x4, 4matic, awd issues come from software first, however, my 2015 does not have adaptive damping meaning no RACE MODE, my launchs r smooth, but beware the software is set to only let u launch when u have driven a few miles AND engine/trans/coolant temperatures are all in WHITE colour on ur dash, scroll to ur AMG page on dash, u will see. 3rd, squeaky brakes, i have those too. u have to realize these are drilled ventilated disks in huge size + 4 piston brakes. squeak is normal, it usually means u have something caught in it and that always happens to big brakes. if u arent satisfied with OEM pads (they r actually pretty ok except for noise and dust), try gettin ceramic pads. upon watching at ur other videos, get rid of the continental SPORT CONTACT 5p(if u have these), they wear too fast. if ur car came with sport contact 6, they last slightly longer and very good grips but thats ur money ur call. i have continental dws-06 and they are fantastic in Toronto, and i think its better for u in UK. change ur oil every 5k miles, fill up ur fluids when u go to ur indy garage, forget about the stealerships. transmission oil at 30kmiles. my car has gotten into an accident too, cost was almost 20k CAD (12k pounds) and it still runs like a tank without a single problem. if ur problem persists, might be a lemon.

    Ive owned my 16 CLA45 for 14 months now and it has never missed a beat the only thing I am not happy with is the Race start as it always wheelspins and I never managed to do the supposed 4.2 seconds to 60. I then took it to stage 2.... tune and Air filter and the car came alive... It will consistently do 4 seconds to 60 now without race start... so its not that bigger deal anymore.

    I had the same issue on my merc with about 6k miles the brakes made a horrible noise but Mercedes made me pay to get them changed. Same with my wipers the second day after delivery from factory they were dragging and they made me pay for them as well to have them replaced. My turbo went about 4k miles but luckily they replaced that for free and on top of that my car has a rattling noise when your driving on a smooth road which Mercedes can't seem to find the source of and after 5 garage visits they've given up trying and refuse to help resolve the issue... I understand brakes and wipers are wearing parts and aren't covered under warranty but making me pay for replacement when I've practically been given the car with faulty components is just stupid.. This coupled in with their lack of effort in trying to fix my car has really put me off buying a merc in the future!

    I can confirm almost the same thing. First - turbine failure. One of the blade broke off (about 7100 rpm). The car required a replacement turbine and exhaust system which was flooded with oil. Now it's back on the service - there was a leak on the oil pan during the review. Fortunately, I bought the extended warranty (+ 2 years).

    I own a 2016 CLA45 with about 27000 miles and I've had absolutely no issues with the car. Upgraded it to stage 2 (catless dp, mid pipe, heatshield, mishimoto intake, and ECU flash) through Weistic about 8000 miles ago and still no issues! Making about 440-450hp at the crank and will walk an M4 off the line and honestly have no issues keeping up with bigger cars. The valvetronic sports exhaust has a nice tone, and I own a C63 Edition 1 so I know that classic AMG rumble and although its different I don't mind, its a great car with its own character.

You drove a car long trip or just short trip but very fast for fun and thats mean you TURBO is very hot and needs cooling but if you are using this stupid start system stop engine is going off and turbo will be death very soon .... but you saved 0,2 litre of petrol, ok you can be happy, doesnt mater that new turbo cost 1.000 euros ... LOL ... plus your starter is made for couple thousands starts, but if you are going use this stupid start stop system you need start your car far too often and you need a new starter very soon as well, but doesnt matter, thats ok because you save petrol and reduce emissions .... Chaos Zombie999 again.... AMG... not Toyota Corolla 1.4D

    • @timrietbergen
      @timrietbergen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Actually; the start stop system shuts the engine of at the most ideal point of it's cycle, meaning the restart will take little to no effort from the starter engine. The turbo needs to be lubricated. Older cars need to idle for about 20 seconds before you turn the car off in order to prevent a still revving turbo to run dry and wear out. In modern cars with start/stop the engineers thought of that and designed a little pressure valve that will keep oil pressure on the line to the turbo after the engine is switched of to prevent starvation.
      Aside from all that...start stop sucks balls and is primary designed to make cars cleaner on paper. Which is why EGR sucks balls too. It clogs up and fails . Particle filters suck, ad blue sucks. Just a lot of (expensive) extra parts the engine doesn't need and will not save the polar bear. Want to cut CO2? eat less meat.

    My launch control would not work at all. I confirm race start with right paddle then press foot on accelerator and as soon as I step on the pedal message comes up: race start cancelled. This will happen all the time regardless of what drive mode im in.
    My brakes also make a very loud squeel as I come to slow stops. I went back to the dealer on my first service and mentioned this and they just told me it's because they use soft brake pads thus, the noise which is normal on these AMGs (I think its a load of crap) but what can we do...

    • @DrivesbyZH
      @DrivesbyZH  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ben MACQ when it cancels at that point, it's usually because you've pressed the accelerator too softly - you really do have to stamp on it

      if you slowly press the accelerator it cancels and I found after I did one race start it wouldn't let me do another straight away... and if temperatures are not hot won't let you that's all temperatures oil eg everything..and you need to be in a curtain mode or it won't let you .not c mode.sport +..and you got to push a curtain amount of brake pressure or won't let you ..and you have to pull both paddles in then let go ..and then on mine have to pull up shift paddle once then let go.. only then it's ready..and I'd say you could have other factors..mabee sunroof open ?

      The CLA is a special case. It is based on a cheap entry level A-Class, has front wheel drive for cost savings and the 45 model is a Frankenstein with a back fitted awd system. It is complicated and targeted for a cheap market, guess where they save additional cost - in R&D, just as testing. A colleague had one and on the city highway it tried to indicate parking lots at 80km/h. This whole car is a lemon.

      +Zubair Hoque as salamu alaykum. It's terrible, I shipped it back to the states (i bought it over there, and shipped it to Belgium. It's been all around Europe and even parts of Africa -- maybe that's why the turbo broke lol). Any plans on next car, for you?

      Mercedes was only good before Lexus emerged in 1990. They haven't recovered since that time.

    • @d1sturb3d119
      @d1sturb3d119 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcelpatel9017 It really wasn't a case of them having to recover. The S class of the era cost Mercedes so much in R&D that they decided to change how the business functioned. They have since then, NEVER put in that kind of R&D into their cars. The S class was the pinnacle of luxury and build quality and then went downhill.
      I had a huge appreciation for their approach back in the day but now it's a luxury toy that you need money to keep on the road. So folks opt for warranties, and more importantly leases. Leasing makes Mercedes more money that folks buying cars for their brand. So they focus on the lease folks. People leasing adhere to the terms of their lease and the vehicles can maintain reliability with 100k miles. Outside of that it gets sold to some roadside dealer.
      So basically a reduction of R&D costs and turning it towards trying to pack the latest and greatest tech allows these companies to thrive. Tech is an addon for me.
      That's why I can buy a Lexus and pack it with tech if I like, or buy the Lexus and have money left over for mods.
      Maybe someday Mercedes will figure their shit out. Personally I have very little respect for companies that couldn't care about building something solid especially with my money on the line.
