hi Brain. it is a shame to see more products from this company having malware and other nasty trojans in the operating system, They are going to have to do a great deal to get consumer confidence back. Otherwise good bye ace magic!!
I just bought a new mini-pc. Prior to even turning it on, I plan to remove the SSD with pre-installed windows, stick it into a USB adaptor and run a virus check. If it is free of malware I'll put the SSD back, boot windows and test again.
I unfortunately purchased one of the Redline infected AD08 mini pc in January from Amazon, I replaced the SSD and installed a Retail copy of WIN11Pro. But now I'm concerned if there may be a Logo Virus on its AMI motherboard, has anybody checked for this ?
Interesting stuff. It certainly pays to be vigilant when bringing any new tek into your home or business. Deffinitely having a core trusted support network of sites like yours is of paramount importance. OneLove 💙
ETAPrime reviewed The Tank on his channel today. He didn't say that it was from AceMagic or addressed the malware issue. And during his gameplay review the afterburner displayed the CPU being one of AMDs new Ryzen 8000 series when the Tank he was supposedly reviewing has an Intel 12700 CPU. Anywho..... when I buy an AMR5 soon, if it has Google Chrome already preinstalled on it, I'll do a clean fresh Windows 11 install. These are still good quality PCs. Just some bad malware installed along with the OS .
Have one of those AMR5 since December. Found some suspicious files in C:\Windows\OsVer and C:\Recovery\OEM\OsVer that showed it has some worms and trojans. Deleted those, but guess make a clean install, propably with Linux. But Chrome was not preinstalled on mine
Damn, was going to buy one of these mini PCs. The one I did buy came with windows 11. Nothing else installed. But I stuck windows 10 on it straight away. Also testing linux on it.

I just watch today's new video from ETA PRIME channel on youtube about new pc he received from acemagic and he did not even mention about this problem. What a shame because I believe he is aware about this issue .
Carey Holzman is still telling people there is no problem with what he called the "supposed malware", a real kitchen sink drama including him scrubbing comments.
$60 coupon to buy another of their products is the height of stupidity. The consumers have lost ALL TRUST in that company's products and won't buy them any more, so the coupon is worthless. The one arguing faceless channels aren't trust worthy are deflecting from their own UNtrustworthiness. It doesn't matter whether you show your face or not, what matters is the information provided truthful. The integrity of this channel has NEVER been in question to me! As opposed to others, especially one that uploaded a video TODAY recommending another one of these PC's, and showing benchmarks that show different hardware than what's supposed to be in the PC, their integrity is gone along with this company's.
So I had to look this reviewer up because some how I have managed to miss all of his content over the years and just to better understand the context of your video. I am kinda impressed that he has the audacity to play this fiasco down and horrified that he actually is playing this fiasco down in the way that he is doing. I find it a little concerning that he chose to try and define the difference between Virus, Malware and Spyware and then call it Spyware and then had the audacity to double down on it by saying something to the effect of that Spyware is not that bad..... because stealing peoples data is never bad and can not be used for nefarious reason eh? I think not. Just because the guy knows the difference between a Virus, Malware and Spyware does not make him right to call out the journalist because they did not know any better and in reality the journalist was not wrong to call it a Virus because all they was doing is referring to it with the most well known buzzword and this is what the vast majority of the population who do not know the the difference between them would use anyway. As a "tech expert" he should know this and accept it at face value anyway. What I did notice is that for a "tech expert" he is not exactly "tech savvy" given that it looks like to me that he has given everyone in his live chat who I assume are channel members the moderator privilege on his live streams. While moderator privileges on TH-cam are not that great or that powerful (been a long time since I looked at them) this is not a good idea to begin with as it gives all of those people to kick/ban people from that chat if I recall and TH-cam advise against handing out moderator privliges so easily anyway. People never use this as some sort of recognition for your loyal members as there is a system in place for this reason that is the membership to begin with and this is a dumb thing to do anyway. I would have left this comment on his video but to be honest he is not deserving of the engagement points that the algorithm factors in from comment engagement and is better suited by adding the comment here as Britec is more deserving of benefiting from the engagement the algorithm factors in.
I know, its ridicules to think he can pass off password stealer, keyloggers and backdoor rootkits, goes to show how out of touch he is with tech. Also loves to blow his own trumpet while trash talking other people.
I'd be a little wary of just doing a clean Windows install because if they are so bad with their OS image hygiene, is it possible that there's a UEFI malware in there too. If at all possible, I'd reflash the BIOS with the latest version available from the motherboard manufacturer before reinstalling Windows. That or just return the thing for a refund. Trust is utterly broken at that point I'd say.
i bought one, downloaded windows on hard drive, reinstalled clean version; now it has no wifi drivers only ethernet. am returning it and instead will windows scan it and uninstall chrome and reinstall. how to check if there is uefi malware?
This machines windows 11 comes complete with Malware. They’ve even admitted it on their website and provide a link in their apology to do a fresh install.
I just got an email from the email address I used to ask them about the malware offering me one of their other mini pc's for FREE once I left it a 5 star review with pictures and video. So that is attempted review manipulation. LOLOLOLOL You can't make this stuff up hahahahaha. Of course I'm not going to go for it, I'm not that slimy. I find it endlessly entertaining though.
Just a hint. Yesterday I fiddled around with my new just delivered "Acemagic AM06 Pro AMD Ryzen Mini PC" and I tested the preinstalled Windows 11. Defender was disabled and could not be enabled. I was not main root. Another user is. Checked the system with different AVs but no hit, but the hint that there are a lot of file under /user/share/ like "user.db" and some other files cannot be accessed by the AV. In some Minutes another one will arrive. I am seriously shocked what they doing here. I already wiped the one from yesterday, bc I do not use windows at all, but wow! I am shocked.
I assume you are installing Batocera yourself and the system does not come preinstalled with it? I say this as I am not 100% certain that any mini PC's come with Batocera anyway and given how many mini PC's there are these days and how flooded that market is it is easy to miss one that might lol Anyway if you are installing it yourself then there should not be any safety issues for you as long as you get the installer from the official Batocera source.
It's bad enough getting Windows to correctly find drivers for a new PC, but that dial feature on the Acemagic is software based, isn't it? Virtually impossible to make use of the features on the PC without downloading more dodgy files. I tend to buy Barebone mini PCs but it's getting harder to get drivers from AMD and Intel. Not sure if manufacturers change the signatures to force you to use their downloads

A free download of a supposedly clean version of the OS, along with a $60.00 rebate? Talk about "least possible effort". That's going to be no comfort whatsoever to anybody whose banking/crypto/credit information was stolen, much less used.

ETA Prime is either doing it for one or both things the money from being an affiliate, and or to proud to admit he is wrong for promoting it. For prides sake obstinately taking it personal and carrying the ball for the bad guys because of ego. I personally think it's both dollar for pound.
Imagine blaming your supplier for the OS malware, meaning its pirated so we are not getting it direct from MS, how else do you think they sell these so cheap? It's actually strange that countries have laws against counterfeit items that get seized/destroyed but don't check seized/destroy these cheap Chinese imported PC's for counterfeit WinOS.
Honestly I rather install Linux on that device since you do not need to buy a os licence like Microsoft. If I was a company making the pc cheap enough to make a profit why not putting a os at all let the purachser buy or install their own os of choice then agian the normies wanted windows and too uneducated how to use Linux since more free than proprietary crap coming out form MS
I wish you would quit being this dead horse, there is no computer vendor out there that has not had this happen at sometime or another. These things happen they provide good direct solutions and offered refunds and discounts if you don’t want to use their products. why don’t you follow their instructions and see how good they are and see if it’s a decent machine and instead of harping on and beating this dead horse that’s been dead for two months. Give the people a break try the solution.
I don't need to see your face Brian to accept your advice. I don't agree with everything you say in every video you make, but I know a bullshitter when I hear one. YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM. I would never buy a pre installed system for the very reasons you give in this video. IF the machine can be wiped easily and you can add your own system it's a slightly better option, but some of these micro PC's are difficult if not impossible to wipe the storage system on. It does help having people like yourself, with VERY GOOD knowledge about this stuff, doing these reviews in an unbiased manner, I would rather KNOW before I spend cent one on anything, that I'm getting something decent, not just a spyware filled money generator. Isn't it funny how these micro PC's come on the market, full of hype, and then disappear a few weeks later after some crappy reviews. It says a LOT about shady practices. Oh sorry, we sold you a spyware box..?? Oop's. we better disappear and come back with another product with the same issue's after the smoke clears a little....

I bought a mini PC a few days ago and was setting it up today when I recalled watching this video Brian. Looked in the same folder you show in this video and there they were! Uploaded both to virustotal and both got red flags. Not sure if a wipe and clean install will cure it or should I send it back and be done? The brand is on Amazon UK with the title - NiPoGi Mini PC Ν100 with WiFi 6, Mini Business PC 16GB RAM 1TB M.2 SSD, Intel Alder Lake-Ν100 (Beats Ν5095, up to 3.4GHz,4C/4T), Mini Computer Support 2.5" SATA SSD, Bluetooth5.2, Dual HDMI Display
Bravo, Brian.
And tnx
You're welcome
hi Brain.
it is a shame to see more products from this company having malware and other nasty trojans in the operating system, They are going to have to do a great deal to get consumer confidence back. Otherwise good bye ace magic!!
The problem with manufacturers like this one, is that they often just change their brand name and carry on regardless.
Hi Brian. What about drivers. Could they be infected too? I couldn't get drivers from Acemagic, but from the Amazon dealer, on a Google drive.

Yeah, this is a shady company. Bless up

You are so welcome
ETAPrime reviewed The Tank on his channel today. He didn't say that it was from AceMagic or addressed the malware issue. And during his gameplay review the afterburner displayed the CPU being one of AMDs new Ryzen 8000 series when the Tank he was supposedly reviewing has an Intel 12700 CPU. Anywho..... when I buy an AMR5 soon, if it has Google Chrome already preinstalled on it, I'll do a clean fresh Windows 11 install. These are still good quality PCs. Just some bad malware installed along with the OS .
Some reviewers just review and don't do any research. These things can happen, its not the reviewers fault.
Thank you for the info. I will definitely stay away from that company.
You and me both!
GEEKOM BETTER THAN THIS; BRIAN YOU DID AMAZING RECOMMENDED👍👍👍
I got a new Geekom video coming soon
@@Britec09 good !!
Ok so the problem is completely fixed? Because I was thinking of getting a AMR5 as a starter PC I’m only 13
If I delete the folder directly, do I solve the problem?
I have a BeeLink, do you know if this company has malware installed on its mini PCs?
So far, not. Beelink and Minisforum are the more reputable vendors in this space (still coming from China....but what doesn't?)
I just watch today's new video from ETA PRIME channel on youtube about new pc he received from acemagic and he did not even mention about this problem. What a shame because I believe he is aware about this issue .
shill, probably been paid like the other guy
Shill simple as is
I was disappointed in eta after he made that video
@@Whit3WolfXArcadia not the first time sadly
Junk, there's plenty more out there worthy of our money.
I agree
Can't bitdefender stop the malware?
That brand is definitely tarnished
For sure and rightly so.
I would go a step further and suggest the BIOS needs checking.
Probably really hard to find a BIOS for that machine
Thank you for what you do.
My pleasure!
Build my own and always run a full scan while finished then make a redo image.
this is the reason i install a new copy of window on any prebuild pc i buy
I bought minisforum mini pc from Amazon and don’t have a virus after scanned serval times . It mean good pc if lucky buy the mini pc .
minisforum do some nice mini pcs
Ty so much you save me a headache
You're welcome
very important questiom, why do you have ms store pinned to the taskbar
nah btw kinda insane
nice work thank you
More good info thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Could malware be on even more of their products?
Its in a number of there mini pcs
The kamrui gk3 plus I received from the same company in November had two malwares on it too. Redline and something in synaptics driver.
Are Geekom good mini pcs?
I have a review coming
Thanks@@Britec09
Thank you.@@Britec09
Someone had to install that right ???
Yes, but on a large scale. And if you consider how many of these PCs have contact with a network...
Do you mean Windows? Or some other malware/spyware?
Damn i buying NiPoGi Mini PC ... Should i complet delete and new install win 11 ? Sry english:)
If i were to purchase new or used from online companies, i would choose barebones and put in my own NVME and Ram.
This is the correct answer. If you can’t install your own, then this isn’t the tech for you and dude you’re getting a Dell.
@@The_10th_Man
I put new SSD , fresh OS and RAM in my Dell though.
@@TheAgentAssassin I bought a ASUS laptop from Bestbuy and still swapped out the NVMe drive in it, it's just what i like to do.
I bought a Beelink Sc 7 mini pc before Christmas but haven't used it yet. Was going to use it for Batocera. Will it be safe to do so. Many thanks
I assume you are installing Batocera yourself and the system does not come preinstalled with it? I say this as I am not 100% certain that any mini PC's come with Batocera anyway and given how many mini PC's there are these days and how flooded that market is it is easy to miss one that might lol
Anyway if you are installing it yourself then there should not be any safety issues for you as long as you get the installer from the official Batocera source.
@@Nodster Yes I would use another hard drive with Batocera on it and change the bios on the mini pc
Is Ace Magician the same as Ace Magic? I have an Ace Magician.
Same
Yes they are the same
@@Britec09Is my Nipogi AM08PRO the same too? How would I go about a clean windows install as it came loaded with W11 Pro? Would I have to pay for a new licence? I have no experience of Linux but would that be a better option? Thanks
Carey use to be a good guy. But the last 2-3 years he has gotten very high horsed and sometimes just plain MEAN. I unsubed from him a few months ago when he snapped at a simple question. He loves him big donors and paid members, but could care less about the rest. IMO Thx for sharing
Say you did a clean install on one of these PCs what about the drivers for say the RGB Are they safe?
I don't think
I would trust them myself
What a flippin' joke!!! Might as well ship without an SSD so you can put your own SSD in there!!! 😬🙄
You're better off buying an off-lease corporate USFF like HP or Lenovo and add in your own RAM & SSD.
Its a serious crime what they are doing
I need help I tried to change operating data to a new SSD using a prior one of your videos and mine came out a bit different and my system won’t boot can you help me
I was once subscribed to Holtzman's channel, but not too long afterward felt I had to unsubscribe. He has an arrogant, impatient attitude that shocked me. Yes, he often knows his stuff, but he has a nasty streak to him that left a bad taste in my mouth. He's the only TH-camr I've ever subbed to that I had to unsub.
Solution: build your own PC
I think the why the reason why these pc sell well is they are reasonably priced and a lot people are not that tech savvy
A free download of a supposedly clean version of the OS, along with a $60.00 rebate? Talk about "least possible effort". That's going to be no comfort whatsoever to anybody whose banking/crypto/credit information was stolen, much less used.
Well, now they have spoken out Brian, this could be the publicity they are looking for, and part of me hopes they do well to recover.
Besides the malware it is just so damn ugly, no way will I ever have something this horribly designed on my desk.
why would any company do this, no onee will buy their products now
I would certainly not buy any of them
I've avoided Cary for years, he is completely toxic and non stop BS.
I know mate.
Having a ACEMAGIC S1 Mini PC, I discovered the LED Tool (*.exe) suddenly dissapeared from the device (after going online). I really wonder how deep the rabbit hole goes this time...
ETA Prime is either doing it for one or both things the money from being an affiliate, and or to proud to admit he is wrong for promoting it. For prides sake obstinately taking it personal and carrying the ball for the bad guys because of ego. I personally think it's both dollar for pound.
Water off a ducks back they're making bank sitting at home reviewing endless boxes of pap being sent on daily basis.
Bad stuff.
It sure is
I wish you would quit being this dead horse, there is no computer vendor out there that has not had this happen at sometime or another. These things happen they provide good direct solutions and offered refunds and discounts if you don’t want to use their products. why don’t you follow their instructions and see how good they are and see if it’s a decent machine and instead of harping on and beating this dead horse that’s been dead for two months. Give the people a break try the solution.
This *had* to happen ... there was no question of "if" it was always about "When?"
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I don't expect you to agree with me on everything, that is perfectly fine by me. Thanks for watching and the continued support.
