I doubt my faith as a Mormon constantly with so many debates of religion these days it can be so confusing. But Hugh Nibley often calms me and makes me simply enjoy being associated with the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

This documentary really affected me in high school, never knew what it was. Thank for uploading this. I will probably watch it 20+ times over the next several years.

We can forgive & we can repent!

Being humble, to recognize our ignorance, to sacrifice what we think we know, to repent and give honor to the greater light and truth. How inspiring!

This was a seminal video for me growing up. I still refer back to it as a foundation of much of my understanding about life and the gospel.

That is wonderful, it's amazing how much we can learn from him so many years later.

I've read so much of Nibley's stuff, that I feel like I know him and consider him a friend - yet, I am saddened that I never was able to meet him. He'll be sure to hear (if he doesn't already know) the impact of his genius, has had upon my life, in the life to come.

This eases the sores of an existentially ravished mind.

I love this so much. There's no-one like Hugh Nibley. How blessed we are to have recordings of him.
After watching this again, my faith is lifted up and deeper. Thank you.

Any plans to eventually upload a higher quality version of this?

Some of the most important lessons -- the ones with real impact I learned after reading something Nibley wrote. For example in the book "Brother Brigham Challenges the Saints" chapter B.Y. and the Enemy. I learned more ,in two hours, about how to live the spirit of our religion without self-righteous and love of getting rich than in all my years growing up in the church. Or rather his essays focus all the nebulous principals I learned in my earlier years into a solid plan or action that I recognize as the Truth. Remarkable speaker/writer.

Of knowledge and learning to commune with the spirit of God true constant study, Pondering, and Prayer. One can not know what God means unless he or she learns to communicate to the almighty through the gifts and power of the Spirit of the Lord.

The love of money spreads into many categories because of what money is. It is stored labor. It is a tool for measuring the meeting of human needs and desires, and the ability to command others.
The love of money is the love of being able to hold power over others, to gain the fruits of labor without having earned them. If you aid others, money will find you, and you will use its power for good. If you love the money itself, then you want to get it without paying that price, without caring for the good it should represent in the world. If you love money, then you love power without earning it, and seek to avoid the work and service of others. If you love money then you will seek to get it with no regard to who it hurts, taking it from others who have earned it through predation (murder and get gain).
The love of money connects to many other spiritual ills, the desire to get something for nothing, the desire to have power over others, and the desire to compete with others and be seen as better than them.

A beautiful story about Hugh Nibley and his teachings/sharing of lessons he’s learned.
Is there some way with new technology that the words spoken in this video can be enhanced so that we can hear them more distinctly? Or is there a text that can be read and followed?
