    Thanks so much for taking the time to document this repair. Rats had chewed off the wires to two of the four knock sensors on my 2008 Tundra. By watching this video I was able to do the repair myself in about 5-6 hours. I took my time and labeled each wire connector or hose as I disconnected them and got up to #22. This made putting everything back together pretty easy. Before I reinstalled the new wire harness, I wrapped it all with several additional layers of electrical tape, sprayed clear coat paint over the tape, and then sprinkled a bunch of cayenne pepper on the wet clear coat. Hopefully those darn rats leave it alone now. As you mentioned, the hardest part was getting those two back electrical bracket connectors released. Thanks again, you rock!

    this absolutely happened to me after one week sitting. mice got up under the intake manifold and chewed the knock sensor harness. i paid about $45 for the harness from oreilly's, and got it fixed with just a few ratchets in about 2.5 hours.

    Exact fix to exact problem & no BS. Curtis, you literally saved my ass and sanity. I am a credentialed engineer and mechanic yet was baffled by as to why I got the EXACT indications you clearly detailed and a subsequent p0333 code (knock sensor) on my tundra. There were NO codes just the day before. Only difference was where I parked my truck…by the wood pile…rats! Those m’frs ate the harness down to the clips. I salute you for your straight, no BS FIX to what was otherwise leading to an ape shit freak out on my part. You deserve a medal. 🫡

    When I changed my CHEWED knock sensor harnesses, I slobbered all connections, exposed bits of wire and loom tubes, with almost a whole tube of clear silicone. Hoped to slow down the rodents. 2007 Tundra, so sure didn't need to be pretty in there when I was done. Been two years with no knock sensor codes now.

    After watching this, it looked like you had some coolant gel pooled up under there as well(valley plate) 7:49 probably should reseal the valley cover with FIPG so your not losing coolant. After awhile it gets worse and your coolant overflow stays empty.

    Hey there, just recently picked up a well kept high milage 08 5.7 limited. I drove the tundra back about 2 hours with no issues a couple days ago. Today went to start it and got p0333, high input knock sensor bank 2 sensor 2. I ordered a new Dorman wiring harness to get the ball rolling lol. Do you think it's the harness or could it be the oxygen sensor? I didn't take the manifold off just yet, waiting for the new harness to come 12/21 in first. Just spitballing to you due to the fact of you helping a lot of people with this common issue. Which is much appreciated! Thank you

      The rats probably ate some wires for the CP sensor, but the only way to know is to inspect all the wiring.

    Hello. Replaced the wiring harness today. While removing everything to get the intake off hoses et cetera my antifreeze started leaking out of the blue from below. By the time I was done the coolant was completely drained. Refilled and now it’s leaking like a sieve out of a little hole on the bottom drivers side corner of the radiator. Right next to a plastic valve knob. What did I do wrong or miss?

    Thank for this help! Just a couple questions, if you get time partner?
    1. Are those 12mm torque bolts?
    2. I noticed the rats ate right where the wires are exposed. Would electrical or gorilla tape help cover and protect them?
    3. I bought an after market harness. Are they not made from mouse food for sure?
    Thx man if you get time!!!

    • @happybleeding
      @happybleeding  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I believe they are 12mm
      you can use electrical tape anything helps to cover the wires
      the aftermarket harness is not made with linseed oil , so you are safe

    Hello, I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra 5.7. question: will using 93 octane damage my Knock Sensor 3 Circuit High? My owners manual recommend 87octane and I have been using 93 for a few years. my code is P032D

    • @happybleeding
      @happybleeding  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would run 87 octane per the owners manual , the 93 octane could over time damage the knock sensor and potentially the valve train not to mention you are probably getting worse gas milage with the higher octane fuel.

      Finally got the manifold off, found the 2 10mm bolts holding the electrical harness to the manifold. Vacuumed out the rat bastards nest and waste and replaced the knock sensor wiring harness that was chewed (same place front passenger side). Will do some cleanup and spray peppermint oil in the area before installing the manifold back. Thanks for the video.

      the aftermarket harness is color coded I believe the Riverside connections are black(the ones that connect to the knock sensors )and the passenger side is grey, but double check there should only be one way it can fit

    • @happybleeding
      @happybleeding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no you dont need to drain the coolant , I believe there is a couple coolant hoses on the intake just need to elevate them so it dosent spill everywhere, but its a totally doable job , there are a couple wiring harness connectors that can be kind of a pain but other than that its about a 2 hour job.
