There is a 'deficiency' of G6pd , but is still present .. it is comparatively more in young/new RBCs but as they age, the enzyme gets depleted due to its use in oxidative processes…. and that’s why we do the G6PD level test after 2-3 months

No no it's due to biting of oxidized and cross linked hb by the spleen macrophages on the cell wall of RBCs
