Came across an older Triton a couple years back coming across the Simpson with a snapped chassis. Took out his battery, grabbed a set of jumper leads, arc welding rod we found in the bottom of the toolbox, two winches and jacks to get it back in line. Zip zip got him back to Birdsville we heard from him later👍
Also on the Simpson few years ago. Suspension on my 07' Ranger decided it had enough. Front passenger completely gave way, tyre at 45 degrees. Worked on it for a few hours getting the snapped bolts out and ratchet strapping it back to the chassis and crawled for a day on heavy corrugated tracks into Cober (Oodnadatta said no can help). That happened just out of Delhousy Springs.

Greetings from Poland Bush mechanic's - good job with the steering rod. It's good to keep propper size U-bolts and a long screw or a piece of hard metal bar. 2-3 U-bolt clamps on each side of a broken rod, bolt it tight and of you go to a workshop. About the fix: radiator hose once, steering rods twice, they simly snap, swaybar links, several times. Keep up the good work, the films/views/people are amazing.

One tip i learnt way back (1994 actually!), after breaking a trackrod and loosing steering, was to let the tyre down a bit on the "non steering" side, and pump it up a bit on the "steering" side, this means the steering side is carrying more load (more of the vehicles weight) and so can dominate the vehicles direction more than the side that is just flapping around!
The fact that shauno and the guys can still end the evening with a good cook up with so much enthusiasm after such long days blows my mind! Keep it up boys.

Thomas Blakeway putting a osculating sprinkler under it and letting it run is a good and easy solution for the underside. Just have to move it every 30-45 minutes.
In February I ran an overlanding course call "run through the hills." It was put on by Backroads of Appalachia. It was a 24 hour course from Sennica W.v to Pt. Pleasant W.v. About 4 hours in, I broke the drivers side upper ball joint. We tried to ratchet strap it enough to get me off the trail. Ended up destroying the tire, but we did get me out of the way enough to get something like 20 vehicles past me. Finally the support crew got to me and we figured out a plan to fix it. We got the ball joint pin back in the control arm enough to weld it. It was a pretty amazing bush fix. I drove it out another 6 miles of extream rock and creek bed climbs, ice and mud. Once we got to a main road me and wife decided to err on the side of caution and head home. The bush fix got us another 160 miles home. I've offered to be part of the support crew on the next run. Without a generator and welder, we'd had to left my rig and went 6 miles out and then foud a parts store. Then 6 miles back in. It would have been an absolute night mare. Snow on the ground, 2,300 feet altitude at about 32°. I was so impressed with that bush fix. I've upgraded my 4x4 to a chevy colorado on 35's. I've made brackets to hold a generator and welder in the bed of the truck. Good day to you all. Thanks for reading.

@@martinkotze3351 I didn't just mean their wife's or girlfriend, I also meant guests on the show. The only women I've seen on the show in the past 3 years or so are camera women. I'd actually love for there to be guest female 4wders (like danie simpson), more so than passengers, I just meant that there aren't any what so ever. I know I would definitely love watching the show more if there was some women on it. 😊
We've had the same problem before we have taken an open end wrench try to put the open end up against the knuckle and then use four or five sinch pipe clamps around it making sure to span over the broken section as much as possible cinch shaft and the wrench and tighten them down good that works as well and it keeps you able to steer sometimes you have to adjust it a little.

Actually, a good really question
Maybe because they'd be better drivers and cooks...
Sophie Ryan. I know u are talking of gils as there wife's or girlfriend but I would like to see Dani Simpson (also a 4x4 girl at heart) with them. I think see can do it with the boys and FOR the girls. Wouldn't hate to see them on a weekend or for something like this. Shauno if I remember correctly she is also a QLD LADY.
I can see the problem with your 4WD, it's got Ford on the front.
Kertgaferg hahahaha
Kertgaferg at least they circled the problem😂😂
One of the top five hardest tracks in Oz eh? Givvus the other 4. Awesome viewing lads. Found myself mouthing "get ******' soooooo many times in awe! Cheers.
Built Ford tough (?)
As tough as us stupid Aussies designed it, Compared to my 73 F350 that thing looks like a ants toy (especially that steering arm)
Only America ford built tough
And Thai build it..
