Hi Ozzy, The large burrowing mayflies spend unto 3 years burrowing in the river bed unto 6 meters deep down in the mud and sand. When they emerge they do it as quickly as possible. You can weight this pattern if you wish but I just wet the fly and then squeeze out any air in the body and fish it just under the surface.
Beautiful fly! I think I'll add some to the big nymph box but I wanted to ask why It's so large? Don't get me wrong I've seen and know there are some giant mayflies but are burrowers often so large? If anyone can let me know, feel free. Regardless, an excellent and so very buggy pattern, thank you for sharing it.

I mean it won’t sink any depth. Some wet flies will sink deeper
