That is my local dealership. I've been using them for years. I had a Defender 90. I loved the looks (Carpathian grey with the black pack) but it was totally impractical. That electric front seat to gain access to the rear seat is a real pain. the lack of rear space is also a pain, and to make matters worse, the rear seats don't fold flat which leaves a totally impractical sloping floor. I also found the 90 to be a bit jittery when towing. I changed to a 110 and I'm loving it. I came from a full fat 4.4 SDV8 Range Rover Autobiography and the Defender is so good I don't miss the Range Rover. In fact. I can see the Defender taking sales from Range Rover.
I have run the P400E X Dynamic HSE for 18 months and 17k miles. Have had Disco 4/5, RRS, Cayenne, ML and Q7 and this is my favourite. No issues since purchase.
I've been driving the D300 in a 110 and honestly I think it's all you need...really smooth and plenty of punch. However, I have not experienced the petrol/phev, so I am being biased! Pan roof is a must!
On the 90 there is another manual lever below the passenger seat base to pull it forwards quickly 🎉 Also the side panel is an option on the 90 and without it the view out is much better.
I have an X5 and a Defender with the latter mostly for farm work. But it's a 3.0 HSE and so can do everything the X5 does comfort wise. Boot is more practical in Defender because you don't have sloping back. Defender handling is outstanding for the size and weight. Residuals also much better in Defender.
I did a LR off road experience in a 110 and was amazed at not just what it did but the ease it did it. Amazingly capable bit of kit but I guess 99% of them will never get used in that way.
110 for practicality every day of the week and twice on Sunday. The D300 engine I have is brilliant. Been down to Greece and back, including towing a car trailer/car on the way down. Get an insurance quote before you buy one though just to make sure you can insure it. Hopefully prices are or will come down for insurance.
They have stopped doing the P400e now and never did it on a 90. They have reduced the size of the hybrid to a P300 for this model year. I love my P400e but would probably have gone for the D350 if it had been available earlier this year. Prices have sky rocketed on new ones though.
Do not buy the hybrid. Ours broke down twice in the first week. Went back after less than 3 months and got our money back because the hybrid battery failed. Stay away!
Which Harwoods? One of them is closing down 😮 Probably why not many ones in there 😢 The 90 is definitely the better looking of all 3 models but I’m biased 😅
Your lad is right - the 90 is hopeless if you need to use the second row of seats. I test drove the 110, and then bought an X5. I liked the Defender, but it was higher that I wanted, with more roll than I like and it didn't seem very well equipped. The thing which really put me off was that all the Defenders on the forecourt were fitted with security locks on the steering wheel because they are so easily thieved, and during the test drive, the security lock was left to crash about behind the front seats. The Range Rover sport suited me better because it is more road-oriented, but the X5 suits all my needs.
I feel like the Defend 90 V8 could be a potential future classic. It is truly one of a kind and is quite rare.

Love the design!!! However, I have a bigger boot in my Smart car compared to the 90 😂 love the 110 in ‘black’!!!

The new V6 engine is supposed to be a great unit, the 2ltr Ingenium engine is not known for its reliability.

The x5 I have currently is very good and 50 miles EV range
That 90 would be great with a full rear side window and a normal/manual car seat slider, much safer and faster to get the kids out
Your kid had me at “can’t see out the windows”. Not so bad on the 110 but that was the dumbest piece of design ever for the SWB.
