If you want to teach to the end of the process of teaching, add the tabs, It could be really helpful for us the students, 'cause we follow you and also have the tab confirmation. I just want to take also some time in this comment to tell you that you are so talented and an inspiration to us, the herd that uses this as a hobby or a therapy, we thank you so much! you inspire... lovely
Mahalo for setting out to teach one of Jakes most difficult songs. I see comments below criticizing you however the student should realize that this is not an easy song and you can't spoonfeed every finger string combination or it will take eons to teach this song. Moreover, it is not for beginning level players although they will benefit by trying to figure out finger/string combination on their own. He in fact does sprinkle in what fingers to use here and there. Give Corey credit for taking on this daunting project. As for Corey, mahalo for the tutorial, you go Hawaiian!!!
Glad this lesson is still up! Thank you and I really appreciate your time to share. I still remember playing this over and over for hours (2012), took weeks for my slow learning curve at the time lol
@PoliteCheese1414 It may be a little flat (still tuned to itself), but it is still the same shapes. If you are gonna play along try tune down a bit and tune it to itself. Sorry for any confusion. You should still be able to learn it from this.
great player; bad teacher. He says one thing, does something else. Changes chord shapes. Add is bits without explaining. Still, I'm getting there. He changes the G-chord shape to something: what is it??
A little late, sorry. What he does is basically bar the instead of placing the index and middle finger on the respective strings. I was having trouble too.
This is immensely helpful. Thanks very much for taking the time to produce it. I like the fact that you don't force feed us every note, I can understand that some people need this, depending on their level but this is great if you just want a quick guide. It's helped me pick up the tune in double time !! Thanks again
Can you PLEASE do a tutorial for the intro that you did at the beginning! I can play the whole song but really want to be able to do the intro. By the way, your videos rock.
Thanks so much for this. Your generosity makes it possible to learn songs and techniques that would otherwise be out of reach for a lot of us. All you tutorials are greatly appreciated!
dude this video was good . you guys are crazy .. at least he tries to show it.. i suggest you look at this video upside down with your ukulele when you play it helps position your hand beside i played all the parts of the song it sounds perfect.. what jake does is mostly improvisation now hes not gonna show all the notes cause its just the basic notes.. so you guys don't know anything he did a great job thanks seriously man it really helped.. and for others well get better and try again.
Not easy, but nothing worth learning is. Good job, you can hear and see what the right is doing. No explanation needed, just good ears. Loves this tune! Thanks.
I'm a self taught ukulele player, and this is a very hard song to learn-- obviously it will take practice, but I'll get there!! Even if this song seems super difficult, try it! Keep practicing, because it made my skill level go up... A LOT
I love the fast pace teaching style brotha 🤙🏾 this one is not for beginners, lots of different techniques you need to learn before going after this one
That's awesome.. but now my fingers hurt. My father showed me Jake Simabukuro playing this song, and I thought that I could never do this.... Now I feel like I am getting closer to what I thought was impossible. Thank you! :) I'm borrowing my RA's ukulele. I might buy one off of you guys, but am not sure what to get, or what strings to purchase... :(
you are AMAZING. the tut isn't easy, but i bet that it's even harder to teach it. thank you SO MUCH. jake, ukulele mike and you are my favorite uke teachers. WITH LOVE FROM GREECE
That is a beautiful Ukulele. The Ko'olau CS Tenor? Would love to get my hands on one some day. It took me some time, but I converted most of this video to paper tabs. Worth doing for those learning, it helps with memorisation etc. Much appreciate your videos!
Has anyone got the tabl this particular version/tutorial? I'm having trouble determining fret finger placement because I think it is done two different ways in this video. Thank you.
Thank you so much for doing this! Your playing is incredible... I was confused at first but took the time to stop and go back when I needed and it's getting there! Thank you for taking the time to teach us :-)
+pilgrim2510 i know you posted this a year ago and you may have figured it out fir yourself by now but the tuning in the video is slightly off and your ukulele might be slightly out of tune as well so together they make a huge difference the tuning for this song should be standard GCEA
@itsmimitime This video is a "watch and learn" kind of video. If you're looking "tabs" or any simpler way of learning this song, there are a bunch more videos on youtube with easier explanations geared toward "novice" players. Aloha.
He's so good (and even better now). It's like watching something in slo-mo, thinking "I want to go faster!" but my fingers and brain can't do it. I wish I was skilled enough.
great tutorial, nice to see something that it more in depth than the basic four chords that everyone teaches. i think you did a great job explaining things, though the tutorial is not for beginners.
Just found this - you guys ROCK! I love the Kanile'a koa tenor uke you sent me awhile back - and look forward to playing this... mebbe in another 5 years, lol - much mahalos and aloha to all of you at HMS
Just a little hint: At the end with the hammer on/pull off chord i find it easier if you hold it propperly with all your fingers, not the barre chord he's using in the video. And do the hammer on with pinky. Than you just slide the "g" shaped chord two frets and than another fret. I think it's easier, might help you, i don't know.
I learned most of it, just gotta practice it now. I had one issue tho and it was that your teaching was a bit fast and I didn't really understand what strings you were hitting
Could you please make a tutorial on Blue Roses Falling by Jake as well cuz i love that song and would really like to learn in! Great tutorial helped a lot thanks!
@MeetTheseIronFists What exactly are you doing on 0:55? (the G-chord moved up 3 frets?) ... I know that there is something to do with picking, strumming, and a pinky hammer... but I just cant understand. :p
Great video! Thanks for posting this. Don't listen to the negative comments posted by the idiots who obviously have NO experience with a uke who think they're gonna be able to play a freakin' Jake song right off the bat! I understood you fine. Great job!
the way you played it kept changing, at one point there was less picking then when you played it again there was a lot of extra picking, but better than nothing.
You should check out their website, they have a great selection and they have guides to help you pick one. You can get a $50 Kohala mass produced uke if you want to just get started. It was my first. I've since bought from Hawaii Music Supply 3 times. But, if you arent sure if you want to commit to it, go to your local music store and grab something under $100, and check out Aaron's guides on their website to get started.
Leaguenoob i definitely got lost there. There's not enough explanation of each note on that part and the end. I'm really frustrated because I can do the first part, but that last part is confusing as hell.
Hi Corey: How is it possible to get a copy of the tabs for gently weeps.Ive checked other web sites and it seems to be some big secret as to obtaining them. Any ideas?? thx Patrick
Ok, on the first part, when you first place your finger on the fifth fret on the bottom string, in what order do you pluck the strings? I am so CONFUSED!
Im happy you've put this tutorial on. Easy for beginners, but maybe you could stick to one way to play it for the tutorial. Im constantly playing parts over and over. And the last play at 6:55 is not the same as you've teached before in the video. However thanks for the tutorial, i have it down until 4:50, after that it gets complicated to see what is going on.
If you want to teach to the end of the process of teaching, add the tabs, It could be really helpful for us the students, 'cause we follow you and also have the tab confirmation. been playing for years and this video is probably the best ive seen yet for learning how to play this song thanks for the tutorial.
Hi i know this is four years old but did you ever end up learning this?
@inf3rnox sure, it would just be a 4th lower so it would sound a little different, but the shapes are the same.
You play so fast is because that you’re afraid that I learn from it?
HAHAHHAHAH .
LMAO
I SCREAMEEED LMAO
i wish he would remake this tutorial with some better explaining on the picking hand.
maybe some tabs?
@Dahhhnyel Both are out on our channel now!!

@purposemaker909 The link is above to part 2 and their is a part 3 as well. thanks
@PoliteCheese1414 It may be a little flat (still tuned to itself), but it is still the same shapes. If you are gonna play along try tune down a bit and tune it to itself. Sorry for any confusion. You should still be able to learn it from this.
@Yomhas35 The strings were just changed that day so it slipped a little.
Finally.. a tutorial worth learning..Nicely Done.
Would it be possible for you to do a quick tutorial for the intro?
Thanks.
great player; bad teacher.
Inversions... same chord just a different shape
@jlaci We will work on that. Thank you!

Por favor ensina a introdução. Muito Obrigado

Yay, almost got this part down!
After an hour and a half

Good lesson it takes time to get this and you did a good job Mahalo Bra from a guy who lived in Hawaii for 4 years. Jake is Awesome
Not easy, but nothing worth learning is. Good job, you can hear and see what the right is doing. No explanation needed, just good ears. Loves this tune! Thanks.
Thank you so much! I was able to learn this song with this tutorial!
Thank you for the nice music. Any tubs or tutorials?
@iyongbakla Its just the way I like to play. I like to change it up a bit. Thanks for watching.
I'm a self taught ukulele player, and this is a very hard song to learn-- obviously it will take practice, but I'll get there!! Even if this song seems super difficult, try it! Keep practicing, because it made my skill level go up... A LOT
I got through the first little part! I had to keep rewinding, but I can do it--
SAME!!!
Jen Chal It's only difficult because the way he explains it. I'm still trying to figure it out.
So, 4years later, have you went there? lol
I love the fast pace teaching style brotha 🤙🏾 this one is not for beginners, lots of different techniques you need to learn before going after this one

@xiAresx We'll show the full version of the song soon. Corey will try to play it in the style of Jake Shimabukuro. Stay tuned.
Thank you.
Can you make a video of the intro that you played? Thanks.
@OTL726 This tutorial is more for the chords and stuff. Its a "watered down" version.
Do you think you can show us sometime how to play the intro to this song?
+danoismyname its tuned to the pitch that Jake plays in the famous video, thats why its a little lower.
I agree with Hatty here -- you taught this without telling those of us who are listening all of the things we would need to know.
Beautiful job Corey! Great lesson.
This vid won't play on iPad - says it's disallowed by author - please fix
can you make a tutorial of jake shimabujuro's version of my heart will go on???tnx....
Thank you so much for doing this! Your playing is incredible... I was confused at first but took the time to stop and go back when I needed and it's getting there! Thank you for taking the time to teach us :-)
dude does anyone knows where to buy a long fret ukelele I only have the small one its like a toy
Hi! I've been practicing but I was wondering if there was a way to see the chords written on a sheet. Do you have a link to the chords/tabs?
Google it.
Hi, thank you for the video.
My uke doesn't plays only some of the sound on the same frets as your does. I don't get. Can anybody help?
+pilgrim2510 i know you posted this a year ago and you may have figured it out fir yourself by now but the tuning in the video is slightly off and your ukulele might be slightly out of tune as well so together they make a huge difference the tuning for this song should be standard GCEA

@Matt3683683 its the regular GCEA tuning but he shows a simpler way while he does the advanced way
Very clearing sound.Great clip.
great tutorial, nice to see something that it more in depth than the basic four chords that everyone teaches. i think you did a great job explaining things, though the tutorial is not for beginners.
On the video it looks like Jake plays something between the high voicing and the Bb- also, where is the next video??
thank you thank you. please know that there is ambulance noise in beginning background
what size of uke is that ??? please someone help me
Just found this - you guys ROCK! I love the Kanile'a koa tenor uke you sent me awhile back - and look forward to playing this... mebbe in another 5 years, lol - much mahalos and aloha to all of you at HMS
Can we have a quick tutorial on that pinch harmonic at the start, just lovely!
Knew this a while ago because of this tutorial, gotta relearn it now since it's been a while!
@TheOrangePoet It depends on how well you want to play it. It's hard to play it perfect.
what are the strings tuned to?
wats the pikking you do for the 3rd last cord
Excellent cover! Thank you so much for sharing
amazing tutorial i was able to follow it impressively well
Thanks for this first part, great job !
can you do a tutorial on orange world?
@Ivan1burnf4ces It is a harmonic. You didn't know those were possible on the uke?
I learned most of it, just gotta practice it now. I had one issue tho and it was that your teaching was a bit fast and I didn't really understand what strings you were hitting
how much are those ukeleles?? i might wanna buy one soon
Great Lesson Corey! Keep em coming!
can this song be played with a baritone?
Could you please make a tutorial on Blue Roses Falling by Jake as well cuz i love that song and would really like to learn in! Great tutorial helped a lot thanks!
I just bought my first ukulele. It is a Lanikai LU-21c. Is it any good?
4:49
I just don't get this part. How do you place your fingers ? Like a G# or a B flat ?
@MeetTheseIronFists What exactly are you doing on 0:55? (the G-chord moved up 3 frets?)
... I know that there is something to do with picking, strumming, and a pinky hammer... but I just cant understand.
:p
@HawaiiMusicSupply I don't see the link
I want tab for this. This is a fun song to just try playing. And I just started playing the ukulele two days ago.
what is the brand of this ukelele ?
What´s ukulele model? tenor?
Thanks! I got pt 1 pretty much down!
awesome job i think, if its too confusing you probably haven't had the uke in your hands long enough to jump into this challenging of a song
Great video! Thanks for posting this. Don't listen to the negative comments posted by the idiots who obviously have NO experience with a uke who think they're gonna be able to play a freakin' Jake song right off the bat! I understood you fine. Great job!
Do you got tabs for this song?
You were a great talent even 12 years ago
how much does a ukulele like that cost?
the way you played it kept changing, at one point there was less picking then when you played it again there was a lot of extra picking, but better than nothing.
Could you guys do a tutorial of his arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody because there aren't any that I could find.
Wow... stunning!
left handed or upside down?
Thanks,
Waiting for the other 2.

@ikizuku get a tenor sized wich is used to play this song.
can you do something with the tuning
is this tuned differently?
Pulled my Pono-AT out of it's case for this one. I'm assuming parts 2&3 never happened, but it would sure be welcome!
Anyone else confused from 5:06?? The hammer on and off?
Leaguenoob i definitely got lost there. There's not enough explanation of each note on that part and the end. I'm really frustrated because I can do the first part, but that last part is confusing as hell.
I'm not confused, but it's a really advanced skill
Yean start there beging confused
Hi Corey: How is it possible to get a copy of the tabs for gently weeps.Ive checked other web sites and it seems to be some big secret as to obtaining them. Any ideas?? thx Patrick
can you teach the intro part
does anyone have a clue on how to play that intro?
Thanks for this fantastic video..slowly working my way through it...Has anyone written the chords for this.. that wouldn't mind sharing..?
@Traconiz Yeah the strings were new. Forgot to stretch them all the way :(
Ok, on the first part, when you first place your finger on the fifth fret on the bottom string, in what order do you pluck the strings? I am so CONFUSED!
