    The very first frame brough back so many memories as a child. The 1966 Hough Riots brought in the Ohio National Guard. A group was stationed outside of that s store to prevent looting. During the day neighborhood children and I went up to the guard. We were staring awe at the Guards with the rifles and helmets that they had on. They also rolled around in cool jeeps. They looked like real life GI Joe toys that were popular during the 60's. I'm 70 years old this year and imagine has stayed with me all these years

    I truly miss the place. Grew up on Gruss Ave. There was a elementary school named Iowa Maple.

    Clevelands population.has declined due to
    High crime , lack of development in the inner city,
    It has alot of remanants of a better time

    Cleveland appears old and run down,quiet city though.
    Is half the city empty?

    • @syedahmed7130
      @syedahmed7130 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The city did lose 60% of its population from 1950 so yes it is half empty. There's some gentrification movement in the city bringing in new money but Cleveland has a long way to go before the inner city becomes better. You can think of Cleveland as little Detroit. Like Detroit, Cleveland has most its amenities set up outside the city.

      @syed I dint think Cleveland loss 50% of population and ur right it is like a smaller Deroit Area. Redevelopment are focused more on the westside and the suburbs has all the stores and attractions.

    • @at0micwerew0lf

      @@Ashley-oi2uw it's up to the people of the neighborhood to redevelop & bring shops & stores in(other than corner store/smoke shops). Bay Village is a great place, Rocky River is beautiful, Lakewood used to be idyllic...but those places are the way they are because people in Bay Village, etc. take care and care for their neighborhoods. It's a shame what the Eastsode has become...but it's the fault of the people who live there. Without honesty and hardwork, Cleveland will stay in this suspended state of animation.
