Awesome video! The 24-25 NHL season will be my first time participating in fantasy and your short and sweet video helped a lot!

Great insight. I have been playing Yahoo fantasy since 2012 mostly H2H or points in both public and custom leagues. The thing that annoys me are the number of people that will join a league and either autodraft or maybe partcipate for 3 weeks and then ghost their teams. For this reason I like leagues of 8 - 10 players because I dont want to play by myself or against a bunch of abandoned teams. This season I have a custom league set up starting week 7 & ending week 20 in hopes that people stay commited since its not a whole season of 25 weeks.

Thanks man, I've been trying to find youtube videos breaking down basics for Fantasy Hockey league setup and it's honestly kind of hard. I wonder if people have just been doing this so long that they take it for granted that people know already. :( Doyou have a video regarding your thoughts on doing a weekly transfer limit and what day that should reset?

Yeah for sure! That's a great question, and one I definitely should've covered in this video honestly.
I would recommend having around 4 free agency pickups a week. I've played in a league where there were 7 and it felt like too much, where you could change almost half your roster in a week if you wanted to; you would do this if a lot of your players are only playing 2 games that week and you can pick up a bunch of players that play 4 games, giving you 2 extra games for each of those players you add.
Anything less than 4 and it makes it feel like you can't really make a difference to your probability of winning that week. I've played with 4 in most of my leagues and it really feels just enough to be able to turn the tide in your matchup, but not too much so that whoever has the best pickups always wins (which can be the case if you change out half your roster every week, especially in leagues where free agency has a ton of good players).
As for when they should reset, I think Yahoo defaults to midnight PST on Monday, so basically when your new matchup starts. I would probably do that even if you're on a different platform like ESPN or Fantrax, not sure if it's customizable on those.

@@kyleyarwood Awesome thank you for the reply. Now I just have to figure out mainly what categories we'll use and how many points for each. (We're going to do H2H: Points daily.)

Of course! Thanks for the comments :). Head to Head points is a lot of fun and definitely my favourite format.
If you're debating between different sets of categories to count, you could always reach out to the people you're playing with to see what they prefer
