This show is like Captain Flint's buried treasure in a way. It's full of brilliant gems and not many people know about it, but when you find it, you rejoice. You also have to be a fan of theater to truly appreciate it because it does have lengthy dialogues and brilliant word play. To me it felt like a grandiose theater play with some action scenes sprinkled within. Fantastic acting and writing all round.

You can tell they all genuinely like each other, thats usually the basis for excellence in acting and it shows. Because they hit the spot saying this isnt just a "yarrr pirate show", its set in a time period with people going through alot of personal shit and they, the actors, manage to sell it in a believable way. One of the best shows in years, right next to shows like Lost.
After finishing watching it again i can honestly say i have discovered quite a few more details and character traits than the first time i watched it. But now, going thorough withdrawal and after watching many "behind the scenes" and cast interviews it kinda makes me wanna watch it all again just to see the scenes they mention in their interviews. This show is such a theatrical masterpiece and very dear to my heart. The writing and acting is such a treasure!
Probably my all time favourite show, great writing, tremendous acting and dialogue, beautifully shot with superb and authentic music, love it! I also have a theory that Star Wars is based on the pirates of Nassau, the parallels are definitely there.
It's a shame we never got a season 5-6 treasure island but I'm happy how it ended which is rare for most shows these days. It was an all round brilliant show, every character had their moments and the intro was the best. Because treasure island is set a decade odd after black sails hopefully in the future maybe starz will get the cast back for a season or two. I doubt it, but it's nice to wish.

Even if you haven't read the book practically everyone has heard of it or know the concept. I do believe without the powerhouse of Toby Stephens coming back for Treasure Island it be a hard sell (even though canonically he can't) he stole every scene.

I think one of the most magical things that made this show so epic for me is that you can tell without a doubt you guys have an amazing chemistry together!You guys could literally open your own pirate theme park as long as you guys were there people will come!!It was the best show ever and I love you all for blowing my mind with your amazing talent!!

They were right to end it when they did because people would be dissatisfied about Captain Flint's uncalled for departure and wouldn't have watched it in the same spirit.

So, there isn't a chance to bring it back, the actual history dictates the ending,(producers and writers concluded the show had wonderfully ran it's course and it was a good time to end it.) unless the producers want to explore what happened to the pirates after the fall of the Bahama islands. perhaps follow the legend of long John silver and/or blackbeard.
Sadly the show is finished. Actors, producers and writers have all stated that it ends in a good place, and they'd much rather end it on their own terms, how they want it to end. There's a very very slight chance in several years that they COULD come back and revisit the events of Treasure Island but again, that is a very slim chance.
Interesting chat about the accents. Deadwood worked and their accents were twice as 're-worked' as the accents on Black Sails but I do think it railroaded the audience somewhat for Deadwood.

Because it made sense story-wise? It's what I absolutely love about this show, that they were more preoccupied with the story rather than fan-service. Vane's death was heartbreaking but it was much needed to set things in motion.

I like the show and it's too bad they cancel it. The last season was not really great - it felt rushed to bring about the path to the book Treasure Island. I think what would be interesting to do but pretty sure they couldn't do because of actors, directors, producers, and writers having other commitments. But if they did a series before silver came along. A series that surrounds Nassau, Capt. Flint and other characters that brought them up to the entrance of Silver - how Rackham and Bonny met, Charles Vane first meeting Eleanor. That would be very interesting to watch and could be written many years before Silver - maybe when Eleanor was 13. Many of the actors would be replaced but some could come back as cameos or actually play parts to keep fans interested.
Jack Shearer actually for me I feel satisfied at the end of the season 4 and I wish they could make a show about Rackham's pirate life after the events of the black sails
Yes, that true. On IMDB we could see the show would have 4 seasons until 2017, when the first season was released in 2014. So I expected not more than 4 seasons. I think the last season was the best, all though all seasons had incredible stable quality. And I'm satisfied with the ending. It didn't end to suddenly.
Yes Season4 was amazing. I was afraid before i watched it. Becaus i was thinking: "Everything come to an end. Capt. Flint get killed, Pirates gets hanged..." But than after i watched it... now im happy. Everything came to a Happy End.

The jail/cellar scene with Vain is horrible for so many reasons. Its possibly my must unliked scene but for human reasons not acting.
