I've heard of this Invasion before but I had no idea it happened in my neck of the woods! Of all the historic military sights to see in Virginia - Colonial Williamsburg, Appamatox, Yorktown - who knew the most famous of them all was The Norbit Scrote Arena in sunny Naw-Fuck, Virginia.
I haven't watched any wrestling since 98, but somehow this has become my favorite podcast... life be weird. Must be John's wheeze-laugh that has me hooked. I wish I enjoyed anything half as much as he enjoys everything.
I am remined that DX used the jeep tank a few more times like when they went to the main offices of WCW. And there entrance in Summerslam 09 but it was an actual tank. And Trips NXT invasion in 2019.
So after screaming "hell f#cking yes" at the top of my lungs in the resteraunt bathroom after seeing this, i get weird looks coming out😂 one of the most memorable wwf moments of my childhood... lets g0o0o0
As someone who lives in Hampton Roads Virginia, I wanna thank James for pronouncing Norfolk correctly 😂 So many people say “Nor-folk”, when its pronounced “Norfuck” 😂 This was so cool hearing how they had shows at the Norfolk Scope and the Hampton Coliseum, that’s so fucking cool! They were doing the tank/jeep stuff because Hampton Roads (it’s a collection of 7 cities) is a huge military area, we have the largest navy base on the East Coast. Most of the people in the area are in the military, we have carriers and subs here. I wish I could’ve gone to this live ❤
Someone tell Tony, the person driving the "tank" was just some random guy that shared ownership of it with his grandson. There's a whole segment about the "tank" on that, WWE treasures, A&E show with Foley, Booker T & Lita.
The latter part of the cast AND of the show, starting from Kane and Paul Bearer right to the end, with Ball and Chain, Stone Cold getting cucked by bald guys, JR "Good Lord", is some of the most unhinged funny shit ever. I was DYING!
MMA was goddamn crazy around that time then Pride ain't far off i don't think and that's probably still the most insane period for just freak fights and then Frye and Takayama just becomes the craziest thing ever in 02
I think Stevie is right; it was probably supposed to be Dax gets hit with the belt and falls back into the ref. Both guys are down. Jericho covers dax but theres no ref. The ref finally crawls over, dramatic 1,2, kickout. Crowd gets hyped up, but then jericho hits the judas out of nowhere & match over. That was probably the plan, but the initial dax getting hit with belt got screwed up, and all 3 guys tried to call audibles; jericho tried downing the ref by scratching him like a cat, Dax retried getting hit w the belt w the headbutt but that missed, so jericho just got up and smacked him w/ it. and the ref decided to sell the scratch like he got pepper sprayed
Honestly, the most over-rated, over self important segment in Raw history.....Austin vs McMahon didn't turn around the ratings apparently, it was this nonsense.....and of course, the next week when Triple H was supposedly going to buzz Nitro in a plane and all they did was have Hunter make 200 jokes about the "COCKpit".....
Thats the HHH politicking shining through. The recent Kliq documentary, they BS it that Hall and Nash left WWF because of creative, despite years of interviews of them saying they got offered a lot of money by WCW.
@@IsaacSperrow Yep, I saw the DX story from a few years ago.....token mentions of Chyna, lots of claims they turned the ratings around, no mention of the absolute bomb DX PPV in December 97 or that Austin vs McMahon was the turning point etc
Probably gonna get worst on that aspect of things since HHH has more control now. Hopefully these wrestling documentary channel people keep a close eye on that and point out the BS when it pops up. Thats the only way to spread awareness about it, since WWE want to keep that stuff hush hush and people growing up on this and the previous era definitely won't know anything about it. The boys make jokes about it, but it is straight-up wrestling propaganda to change their own history.
It's hilarious hearing the rest of the show where DX lose and HHH looks like a jabroni with the Euro Title on the same show that supposedly is ingrained into the zeitgeist of the Attitude Era where it was all turning round is hilarious when really the segment was just okay at best haha
Alter bridge is fuckin sick and edge is why I know them... Same with CM Punk and Killswitch engaged dude 9 year's old hearing metalcore for the first time. I already knew about slayer Megadeth preist maiden all the Vrock bands but that opening scream of this fire honestly changed my life. Like I wouldn't have been in several metal bands without wraslin and video games.
I feel the notion of X-Pac saying "kill whitey" on live TV has absolutely broken Jawnny's mind forever
Why is it that I quote Kill Whitey and I get my comment removed and I get a notification from TH-cam 🤔
X-Pac being Caucasian himself while saying that is pretty wild.
Wild to think most of the top promos of this era were made while literally suffering from concussions
I think Austin's anger at bald guys stealing his gimmick should culminate with the final boss, the newly signed Horace Hogan!
Just one.... more fight....
35:50 the majin vegeta had me crying😂
