  • Instead of restoration I did a transformation from an old knife to a Kiridashi style knife that I will be using in my future leather projects.

    Pretty cool. Kind of a cross between restoration and a knife build. Would love to see you do a complete knife build. Love your videos!

    You make this look so easy.
    That is a dead giveaway showing your massive skill as a knifemaker and a leatherworker.
    My hat is off to you, sir.
    Well done.

    This is an awesome work as usual. Today I’m off and get my coffe and had great time with your old shool style. Let me say ; everything is perfect, the outcome is glorious… but the sound of that antique manuel lathe and the beauty of that simple chair , they are super amazing , I loved !!! Thank you for sharing your precious time and work with us. See you soon again my dear friend 🥃

    From what looked like a piece of junk to a lovely knife and a bonus great file handle as well! That wood does look awesome and I'd love to know how you stabilised it.

    Again, it was fun to watch this video! The wood for the handle is perhaps cocobolo. But then the light part would be sapwood. That might work if you know how to stabelize it.

    Great job! I made two just like it from old blades that were my grandfather’s. I made one with a sweeping tip and the other is a flat back like your with a drop point, I’m using that the most. It’s the easiest to keep sharp and the tip is really strong

    I have to admit that I don't find Kiridashi knives to be in the slightest bit beautiful, unlike your traditional Scandinavian knives, but they are, nevertheless, the ultimate craft knife. Nice job, mate.

    Came across another hand tool wood working video from another creator and immediately thought of you. Realized I hadn’t seen any notifications from your channel in a long time(shorts or videos). This has happened before. The only way I see your content is if I actually search for you. I already have notifications enabled so I wonder if something weird is going on with the algorithm. Has anyone else complained about this happening with your channel?

    • @FFD_Restorations
      @FFD_Restorations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Nikki for the feedback! I am sorry that you have to search for the content. Actually, I am often getting similar feedback and I can also see from analytics that fewer viewers received notifications unfortunately. Hope YT finds better and more reliable way of delivering notifications. Take care!

    Excellent work again, now repurposing old and damaged tools, great idea and yet again showing how far you have come, well done and keep doing what you do, in a sea of fake resto blogs yours and a couple of others are a breath of fresh air, good honest work with no faking, mind have to comment about the stabilised wood as that wasn't around back in the day lol, looks good though, could well be a piece of pine going by the colour

    • @FFD_Restorations
      @FFD_Restorations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! According to some stories they did wood ''stabilizing'' but the whole process would take up from 1-6 months. Soaking wood in (mostly) linseed oil for 24 h and drying for one week and doing that until wood becomes totally soaked and dried. After that they would keep soaking handle once per month in first 6 months, and after that once every year. I saw some handles done this way and I could't tell the difference if they where made a week ago or 50 years ago.
