    i just bought the Dewalt 899 today for lug nuts...and to have on my travel trailer just in case...used it to change tires on my sons car today and it took the nuts off with ease !!

      For these impact removing lug nuts it is child’s play and overkill lol. But I would rather have more power than not enough!! 🤙

      yes...as i said, i’m going to make sure when we’re pulling our trailer, we have it just incase we need to change a tire...would make it a bit quicker

    The only way to do it on a stump is use the same size sockets you lose power on a longer sockets and you have to use brand new batteries on both older batteries lose up to 60% of their power after a year of use and use them on the stump close to each other because there is too many variations on a stump you can have knots or the wood is more dense, I've did the same on a stump and some areas it would go through like butter and other parts couldn't even sink it

      Depth of the sockets don’t matter as long as the bolts are the same height

    that battery on the ridgid is a low end one. upgrade it to octane (hard to find) or the max output.

    I remember when impact wrenches weren't that commonly suggested to use as it is one of those specialty tools on construction jobs used for specific tasks unlike automotive where they are used most of the time. Nowadays, everyone knows you need an impact wrench for lag screws, but those that don't care just use their impact driver until they realize that it can't drive the big boys...even with pilot holes. I think the popularity of impact wrenches have gone up thanks to videos like these. The other great thing about impact wrenches is that it makes changing tires look easy.

    So neck and neck with the Dewalt with a Max output battery and the Ridgid with a regular battery. Not a fair test at all. Put a Max output battery on the Ridgid and it will mop the floor with the Dewalt.

  • @reggiesworld777
    @reggiesworld777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you would have used a max output battery for the Ridgid it would have won

  • @georgedobbs9216
    @georgedobbs9216 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Not to be that guy, but the Ridgid tool doesn't come close to full power unless you are using an Octane battery.
    The Ridgid will massively underperform with that basic 4 ah battery. If you put a 6 ah octane battery on the Ridgid you will get 20, maybe even 25 percent more power.
    There are plenty of videos out there to prove this. This test was pointless.

    • @patdud1979
      @patdud1979  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I understand what you are saying but ridgid is dropping the octane line so now people purchasing this tool will only have the regular battery like mine or the new max that wasn’t available at the time that I tested it.

    The Ridgid does 25% battery increments and the DeWalt does 33% battery increments LOL you can't even compare the two because the DeWalt might be 30% drained but still show three lights 🤔 and one thing I've learned about lithium batteries is you can never go off the indicator lights, rarely are they accurate. But I will say I like both these brands over Milwaukee. I've had nothing but problems with Milwaukee

    You should’ve just use thesame tool to scre it, did it one at a time to get an accurate test as you can’t put thesame amount of pressure. I will pick Dewalt.

    Stay away from Rigid the customer service is terrible if you accidentally fill out the warranty card incorrect it voids the warranty I bought rigid a year ago because advertised more torque worked great first 3 times I used it then I started having trigger problems got that figured out then it started shooting out hot metal from motor end stay the hell away go with dewalt Bosch or Milwaukee dewalt is the best bang for the buck and most dependable

    Hi there thanks for the video very good comparison with a very surprising results :) What i realized from this video Dewalt DCF899 might have a overheat protection. Why I think so, Because in the first trial the reslt was neck to neck. Eventhough dewalts Nut went in wrong direction (this also should effect the result because of the deviation of the impact direction). Anyways, in the second trial dewalt started fast but after some time it started to became slower and slower. (It was not a sudden change it happend gradually). So that is the why i suspect that dewalt has a feature for overheat protection to avoid any damage on the motor. If you could wait for a cool down period (also for the bolts) the result would be different or the second trial. On the other hand in the specifications of these devices dewalts has a fastening torque of 700 ft-lbs and Ridgid has 1100 ft-lbs....
    Edit: In the begining I thought this model was R86011 model which has 485 ft-lbs but after that i realized that this is R86211 model that has 1100ft-lbs of fastening torque. So the results are pretty normal then. Even what dewalt did was a success! But still I believe that this 2 devices have a very similar torque output. It is very obvious that in 1st trial they were neck to neck. In the second trial they started neck to neck in first few second then dewalt started to become slower gradually.... So for me the winner is clearly dewalt according to their specification values.

      I will revisit this test soon but I’ll flip the log on it’s side for a different approach and to see if it will remove some variables? Then it will be time to go find some Honda crank bolt and axle nut to really see who’s the strongest 😉 but I love the feel of the dewalt vs the ridgid.

    • @pm1tonguc
      @pm1tonguc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patdud1979 Honda Cracnk bolt will be a good idea too. Just a reminder, if you do the test twice again give a 15 minutes break for a cool down. Or you may do in this way: First 2 tests non stop without waiting and another 3rd test after 20 minutes of cool down. If the dewalt becomes slower only in the second comparison the my theory will become proven. Also you can try to over tighten the rim nuts with both devices, if you have a truck or smt. strong like that. By the way flipping the log is also good idea. In addition to this It is obviously visible from the video that Dewalt is much more comfortable and working with less vibration in your hands. The vibration of ridgid is ver visible.
