The top 6 teams in the east are all absolutely lethal. I'm glad the Bruins are loading up and Don Sweeney appears to be continuing his mastery of the trade marketplace. Orlov has had a massive impact immediately, hopefully Bertuzzi is another piece that nobody saw coming and gives them that extra push they need to stay on top. Teams like NYR, TOR, NJD, CAR and TB are all terrifying in their own right and felt they needed to add to compete with Boston, I'm glad Don decided to counter punch. I expect an excellent set of series in the east and an absolute blood bath, should make for great hockey games to watch.

I am a LEAFS fan. What I admire about Boston and what makes the Bruins so good, the #1 reason is the lack of selfishness of the star players on that roster. What do I mean? They are all playing for low salaries which allows the GM to stock pile the roster with more good players. Pasternak and Marchand and a few others all could be earning more and yet they agreed not to. You have to respect that. For that reason alone I almost want to cheer for Boston. I have always liked the Bruins anyway, despite the fact my Leafs have not done well against them the past 10 years. I hope for Toronto first but should Boston win the cup that would be just fine with me,.

@@JESL_TheOnlyOne 2017 - Meet Washington. Not supposed to make the playoffs but meet Washington and lose in 6 games. The Leafs exceed expectations.
2018 Meet Boston and lose in 7. Here the Leafs met expectations. They made the playoff when they were supposed to and lost in round 1.
2019 - Meet Boston. I would argue that this was the first year the expectations were to win Round #1 and lose in Round #2. But the Leafs just fell short by losing in 7 games.
2020 - Meet Columbus - In a shortened season, the Leafs lose a 5 game series in the 5th and deciding game. Had the series gone 7 games would the Leafs have won? Possibly. But this one stung as the Jackets were beatable.
2021 - Meet Montreal. At the end of Game #4 Toronto lead Montreal 3 games to 1. Ironically had this been 2020 and a 5 game series as it was against Columbus they would have beaten the Habs in 3 games to1 in the 4rth game. But Montreal wins the last 3 games to take the series in 7. The officiating was very biased against Toronto in one of those games. In game 6 on OT Galchenyuk makes a huge gaffe resulting in the OT Habs goal. Montreal was not a good team yet Winnipeg never showed up, Marc Andre Fleury had a horrible series in nets for Vegas and the Leafs were victims of timely gaffes, bad officiating and some bad luck.
2022 - Meet Tampa - Leafs lose in 7 to a superior Tampa team.
2023 - My prediction is Leafs lose in 7 top Tampa this year. If Toronto was in any other division I feel their fortunes would be far better. Boston seems a lock to win the cup. But may we recall Tampa who got blown out 4 straight by Columbus the year they had over 130 points.

I’m sure Kane was not happy as he wants to play with Panarin again. This year, Kane wasn’t nice about it and CHI knew he only would waive his no-trade clause to go to NYR. How do you think the GM phone call went when NYR GM knows the player wants to go to his club and CHI GM has zero leverage? The East is so strong. 62 games it took Boston to get to 100 points which makes them the fastest Franchise to 100 points in a season. That battle on the East is going to be intense and very interesting. The West will have a advantage just because of the fact that the East is just so much stronger. The West benefits from playing in the West. Whatever happens i know this years playoffs are going to be down right insane and we should see some really great hockey played on the ice. The NHL in my opinion is stronger than it has been in recent years. The game has evolved so much and it is great seeing it unfold before my eyes

I was a Whalers fan being from CT. I realized I was a Bruins fan when they got reverse-swept in 2010 by Philly been a fan ever since. The 12-13 team was awesome, they lost to Chicago. The 18-19 was great they lost to the Blues. I've never seen a team this good, it's literally Lord Stanley or bust at this point. To put into perspective just how good they are; should Carolina lose another regulation game before the Bruins lose again they'll have as many regulation loses as the Bruins have loses ALL SEASON. I don't care about a historic season, I don't care about accolades. I want the Cup, you can't have the leagues best goalie this year, best defense, and 2nd ranked offense and call this year anything but a failure if they aren't hoisting Lord Stanley come seasons end after your final game.

I don't see the Rangers having a chance in that one unless Shesterkin steals 4 games for them. Their big pickups before the deadline don't play defense and that will get exposed during the playoffs. Boston may have the luxury of their top line going cold, and the next 3 lines making up the difference.
The league has not seen a team this deep in a long time, if ever, and all they need to do is show up and be ready to battle. If other teams can get up for the playoffs, so can the Bruins. They just won 10 games in a row, and they're not playing as well as they did much earlier in the season. There's a lot more to their game than they have shown as of late, and the 3 pickups they just made will be contributors.

Bruins have love for each other, love for the game, love for their City, love for the win, and a thirst for the cup. The goaltending is as good as it was when Thomas was in Net (which as a goalie myself, I'd never thought possible) the 2 goalies are a team of their own and the direct result is fun. When the other team scores on the Bruins, they easily match that with 2 more goals, as their 3rd period +/- is another record about to be broken, I don't see them losing 6 games the rest of the season, I love this team, I respect the time and process it has taken to build, and Berge staying Krejic coming back adds such an element that wont be measured, I can't wait to enjoy this team as they anihilate any team claiming to know what they are doing against them. Jim Montgomery, an old UMainer, at the helm, striving for excellence, and getting great response from his athletes, this year is special and I enjoy every moment of it, cuz I know how rare it is, how much work goes in, and the ultimate goal, is for each other's success.. it's special..

So, who else is getting bootypuckering flashbacks to the Russian 5 line the Wings fielded a couple decades ago? You know, the one that was responsible for who-knows how many career-ending injuries? I’m not saying the Bruins are angling for another reactivation of the Russian 5, but with Marchand still being a bruiser, and then adding someone with Bertuzzi’s familial ties into the mix...
I’m really scared for the other guys on the ice with those lines. I know it’s super easy and fun to hate on Marchand, but for as small as aggressive as he is, he’s got what I refer to as “Chihuahua Syndrome”: tiny body, hates anyone who breathes too harshly in his hearing. Bertuzzi already has a target on his back bc of his uncle’s shenanigans with Moore, and he’s still young enough that it could really impact his play-style to have people gunning for him. (I know he’s not the kind to shy away from fights, but I also don’t want to see Bertuzzi-v-Moore in reverse.)
All in all, the Bruins are about to either make the kind of push that will grant then the kind of Cup dominance we haven’t seen late50s Montreal... or they’re gonna end up being the new Broad Street Bullies. And both options are a little spooky to consider.
