Super sentai is the Original how I found out is because Dino Thunder the white ranger’s counterpart basically is a villain for most of the series until the last few episodes and gets killed in the series is the reason why American changed the story up a little, if I’m not mistaken

donbrothers was genuinely the show that got me into sentai. Power rangers was never anything that i got interested in growing up, but the premise and characters of donbros hooked me so quick. It's a show written by insane people starring sociopaths, and it's glorious.

What's cool about abaranger (The sentai version of dino thunder) is that they actually showed up in an episode of dino thunder. Where the rangers was at hayley's and watched an actual episode of abaranger. But dubbed it over like old godzilla films, and made a joke where super sentai copied the rangers. Since the joke is that power rangers was adapted from super sentai. And it was my first taste of super sentai from that episode.

Americans power rangers were licensed by TOEI & Bandai (Japan) in the years after.... It not stolen by licensed by Japan.... The action directors of the series are japanese people like Koi hi Sakamoto etc.
The original of PR is Super. Sentai but PR is Super Sentai that changed the story and mood and tone to suit Western audiences more, adjusting the type that actually in Super Sentai, some Rangers even died, such as TimeRanger(Time Force) TimeFire(Quantum Ranger) will die trying to save children and birds and will be shot down from a building (approximately 2 floors), but in PR it was changed to Quantum. Ranger was hurt so badly that he couldn't transform.
But it's not that Super Sentai will be all original, for example there will be special rangers that are not available in Super Sentai like Platinum Ranger that is only available in Super Sentai. PR But in GoGoV there will not be this ranger or Battleniser because in Super Sentai there will only be an upgraded body. But in the movie of Dekaranger vs Magiranger (S.P.D VS Mystic force) we can see DekaRed(S.P.D Red) first used the Battleniser, then 10 years later Rangers like the Hurricaneger and Abaranger would also use it.
Magiranger (Mystic Force), Super Megaforce (Gokaiger) and Shinkenger (Samurai) are a must watch. You'll see how much PR bastardized their Sentai counterpart

To be honest BOTH the sentai and Power Rangers are the real versions It's kinda complicated, the first power rangers series (mighty morphin) used fight footage from the 16th sentai, Zyuranger. They didn't steal anything they had a license to use the footage. Though they kept the zyuranger suits for like 3 years, splicing fights together with a mix of new footage. Starting with Zeo they started changing the suits every year (so sentai 20, Ohranger) Many of the power rangers storylines were WAY different from the sentai. Like Zyuranger was magic and fantasy, while mmpr, in fact most early PR, was scifi Some seasons did basically copy and paste the sentai to various degrees. Time force was a near 1:1, few tweaks like different big bad, and like making yellow a girl. Same for Light speed rescue and GoGoV, however gogoV was 5 siblings, light speed was 5 strangers... Also titanium ranger was a PR exclusive Wild force was also basically a 1:1 with similar tweaks to time Force, however wild force also had production issues with Disney buying Saban out midway or whatever Samurai also tried to copy/paste shinkenger because it worked great for time Force (but they got unique character aspects, samurai just copy pasted like everything) Starting with samurai we fell more than 1 year behind (Nick didn't want to allow for more than 20+2 episodes per year so it was either cram 45+ episodes of toys into 20, instead of the 30 for Disney era, or spread it across 2 years Some of the later seasons got skipped, one got revisited, and some just got used for 1 monster or part of one.

The following happens every year, a super sentai comes out when the series ends, the power rangers copy the fight scenes against enemies and fights with giant robots(zords) and only changes the actors out of the costumes and distorts the story of the original, before from zyurangers, zaban thought of copying jetman but as there is character death they chose zyuranger to copy and white ranger is from sentai dai ranger they copied and pasted it into might morphin, and zyuranger's green ranger died in the last episodes so you don't see tommy fight alongside the rangers later in the story because in zyuranger there were no more scenes of the green ranger and the thunder zords were also copied from dai ranger and in the first power rangers movie they copied the rangers from ninja sentai kakurangers

What's cool about abaranger (The sentai version of dino thunder) is that they actually showed up in an episode of dino thunder. Where the rangers was at hayley's and watched an actual episode of abaranger. But dubbed it over like old godzilla films, and made a joke where super sentai copied the rangers. Since the joke is that power rangers was adapted from super sentai. And it was my first taste of super sentai from that episode.

There are two failed licensed American pilots for Super Sentai adaptations, one by Marvel/Stan Lee (Sun Vulcan) and one by Saban Entertainment (Bioman) before Saban's Zyuranger adaptation (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) was picked up by Fox in the early 90s.
Since 1993, Power Rangers has been a licensed adaptation of the Super Sentai series, utilizing its suits, props and footage with new footage with new actors shot in California from MMPR to Wild Force and New Zealand from Ninja Storm to Cosmic Fury.
Toei Company, who makes Super Sentai, has also dubbed a number of Power Rangers seasons and all three theatrical movies, releasing them on VHS, DVD and Streaming Services in Japan over the years.
Power Rangers references have occassionally even made it into Super Sentai.

The original of PR is Super. Sentai but PR is Super Sentai that changed the story and mood and tone to suit Western audiences more, adjusting the type that actually in Super Sentai, some Rangers even died, such as TimeRanger(Time Force) TimeFire(Quantum Ranger) will die trying to save children and birds and will be shot down from a building (approximately 2 floors), but in PR it was changed to Quantum. Ranger was hurt so badly that he couldn't transform.
But it's not that Super Sentai will be all original, for example there will be special rangers that are not available in Super Sentai like Platinum Ranger that is only available in Super Sentai. PR But in GoGoV there will not be this ranger or Battleniser because in Super Sentai there will only be an upgraded body. But in the movie of Dekaranger vs Magiranger (S.P.D VS Mystic force) we can see DekaRed(S.P.D Red) first used the Battleniser, then 10 years later Rangers like the Hurricaneger and Abaranger would also use it.

To be honest BOTH the sentai and Power Rangers are the real versions
It's kinda complicated, the first power rangers series (mighty morphin) used fight footage from the 16th sentai, Zyuranger. They didn't steal anything they had a license to use the footage. Though they kept the zyuranger suits for like 3 years, splicing fights together with a mix of new footage.
Starting with Zeo they started changing the suits every year (so sentai 20, Ohranger)
Many of the power rangers storylines were WAY different from the sentai. Like Zyuranger was magic and fantasy, while mmpr, in fact most early PR, was scifi
Some seasons did basically copy and paste the sentai to various degrees. Time force was a near 1:1, few tweaks like different big bad, and like making yellow a girl. Same for Light speed rescue and GoGoV, however gogoV was 5 siblings, light speed was 5 strangers... Also titanium ranger was a PR exclusive
Wild force was also basically a 1:1 with similar tweaks to time Force, however wild force also had production issues with Disney buying Saban out midway or whatever
Samurai also tried to copy/paste shinkenger because it worked great for time Force (but they got unique character aspects, samurai just copy pasted like everything)
Starting with samurai we fell more than 1 year behind (Nick didn't want to allow for more than 20+2 episodes per year so it was either cram 45+ episodes of toys into 20, instead of the 30 for Disney era, or spread it across 2 years
Some of the later seasons got skipped, one got revisited, and some just got used for 1 monster or part of one.

The following happens every year, a super sentai comes out when the series ends, the power rangers copy the fight scenes against enemies and fights with giant robots(zords) and only changes the actors out of the costumes and distorts the story of the original, before from zyurangers, zaban thought of copying jetman but as there is character death they chose zyuranger to copy and white ranger is from sentai dai ranger they copied and pasted it into might morphin, and zyuranger's green ranger died in the last episodes so you don't see tommy fight alongside the rangers later in the story because in zyuranger there were no more scenes of the green ranger and the thunder zords were also copied from dai ranger and in the first power rangers movie they copied the rangers from ninja sentai kakurangers

These works are official franchises and all original copyrights are in Japan. All materials used in Power Rangers are original to Super Sentai.
