If you are going to plant Tomatoes, bury a banana under the roots - - makes the tomato strong and produce more tomatoes. Watching Nori makes me sad because my first dog looked just like him and he was my constant companion - - I rescued him when I was four years old - he lived 13 years. I am now 79 years old and still tear up when I think of him.
I use banana skins in my garden they bio degrade slowly such a slow release of potassium for plants Great for my hydrangeas last year fabulous flowers also egg shell
Hello Willie and Sarah, great video today. I like how you're a vegetables in your planter boxes are coming along. What a great trip out for your first boating experience of the season. I have a seafood allergy so I don't eat seafood. But I can appreciate your effort in catching lobsters and crabs for your meal. Looking forward to the next video as always.
Ignore the detractors. We were told we were wrong for planting our onion sets out in October, "they will never grow" we were told. Guess what, we have loads of onions each year (and Garlic). Half of the fun of growing your own is learning what works and what doesn't.
The most fun I’ve had in ages. Watching Nori help you gardening. So pleased the first launching for the season was a success, Betty looks terrific. I used to make oatmeal barriers in the garden for the slugs and snails. They used to get bogged
Always enjoy watching you guys , looks like you have a very busy helper in the garden. Wait for the hose pipe, your plants , plant pots and stones are brought back to the cottage.
Captain Willie and First Mate Sarah You live in a lovely part of the world Willie, crunching up the egg shells sound would be an interesting sound for one of your songs Wonderful channel. Signed, an avid fan from Minnesota, USA
Fabulous episode Guys. Loved the crab/lobster catch. Living the Skye life could also be ''Living the best life.'' Stay safe and keep the vid's coming! Thanks, John.
Hey eco-friendly team you can get hessian netting for your climbing veg, it lasts a few seasons and means you can avoid the plastic stuff. Enjoying as always.
Listening to the thunderstorms was so relaxing. Nori is so naughty trying to eat the netting etc etc. It is all a learning curve growing veg and flowers. My thoughts on the matter is there is no right or wrong, there is learning and experimenting and trying by trial and error. Enjoy your adventure in gardening. That was very gentlemanly of you to let those other fisherman fish for their goods and you going to a different location. The crab and lobster dishes looked delicious and I enjoy your videos very much.
Laughed like a drain with Nori's antics this week. Well done for clearing beach and recycling and so creatively with your net hammock. Fish and veggies best diet. Betty looking beautiful.
Sorry it’s been hectic so getting to you late this week but as always thank you both for the reminder that a simpler and kinder life is attainable, big love to you all x
Coffee grounds are great for a garden and so are tea bags, just rip them open and spread around. I see Nori is the family landscaper, lol. He is so adorable and so is Jack, the sweetest spaniel of all.
My how unusual it was raining ! As to slugs and snails the best thing to get rid of them is an old tennis racket!! Basically you pick the little devil's up then wack them for miles. Good fun and no nasty pesticides. Oh and egg shells don't work !! ❤ Rich W Ely UK.
Cracking vid as usual...... Mortimer and Whitehouse for the Aaaaand Awaaaaay and the captains hat is a classy addition to Betty. Sunday night sorted cheers 🤟🤟🤟
Well done on your planting. Fingers crossed everything grows well. Nori is so adorable and so determined 😊. Congrats on your first lobster on your maiden voyage. Have a great week! ❤
Building raised planters to save the plants from the four legged trouble monsters was a great idea! Maybe sabotaged slightly by the handy puppy step right next to them though 😂😂😂
@@juliehucker9139 He'll learn. He's still just a baby. Plenty of time for serious training later. Think they're more focused on having a happy confident dog who trusts them 🙂
Glad you got the video uploaded for tonight - otherwise Sunday night would not have been the same here in County Antrim. You guys are definitely the best channel on TH-cam.
Gardens are work, but are also so rewarding. It is such a satisfying feeling when you eat a meal with the food you have grown. Good job with the egg shells.
I don't know if it works on Springers, but the best "do NOT chew on THAT!" product I ever found was cherry flavored chapstick, or any cherry flavored lip balm that is made mostly of wax. Rub it on the surface of whatever and the first time they taste it, most dogs run away.
Wonderful video as usual. Betty looks awesome, congrats on catch for first drop of the season. The scenery getting the fish box, floats ,etc. was stunning. Planters look great full of hopeful food, mine is closer to the ground and my Yorkie loves to chase lizards through it. I am getting about half the veggies I should. Oh Well. Fun bloopers. I wish you a week of beauty and peace, may be difficult seeing Nori is at that toddler stage, wanting to be in everything. Jack is proving how much of a gentleman he has become. Thanks so much!!
Love Nori getting into trouble, typical puppy.. Glad u guys clean up the debris around the island.. And u got some good eating there.. Willie ur boat looks good too!!!
I love you r doggy music when they are running about. I end up humming it alot.😂 would be nice to here it a bit more. You certainly have a great life. Enjoy watching you.🐕🐾🐾🇬🇧
Mentioning the River Cottage book reminded me how much I enjoyed watching the different River cottage-series by Hugh Fearnley wittingstall. You have kind of replaced that kind of feel good-tv.
I love gardens and fresh Veggies and my mouth is watering and waiting patiently for the time when they are ready to eat. Love the crab, not a lobster fan. Aww Nori still a mischievous pup ❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
Oh those 4-legged associate gardeners. Lol. Great start to the garden. The boat looks amazing with the fresh paint and new windows. Here’s to a season full of lobsters!
You really do live in the most beautiful place! Just loved the boat trip this week! How exciting watch you pull the pots! Willies eggshell trick will be great to add calcium to the garden too! Really looking forward to seeing the garden grow! 💚🌱
Hopefully you’ll get a good crop of veggies from that lot if nori doesn’t get there first , after he dug up the membrane down the side of your house. Love that thunder storm , I do love a good storm . Cheers guys .
Hi, Sarah, Willy and the pups. Loved this video. How lovely to be able to catch your lobsters & crabs, so fresh 😋 Hope your veggies grow well and the only advice is (from personal experience) is.. don’t let the dogs see you pick the crop as ONE dog I know now helps herself to peas, tomatoes etc Good luck 🤞🇦🇺
I recently watched a few videos on here about plastic welding. If you get an old soldering gun you can quite solidly repair plastic items. I got into it for repairing kayaks. And Willie can still use zip ties, just as welding rods. Thanks for the beach cleanup. Read articles years ago about how plastics from here in Nova Scotia ride the currents and end up over there in the UK. Actually Scotland iirc. All the best!
I so enjoyed watching this video. Love the scenery as usual. Noris antics made me chuckle. Cant wait to see when those carrots start popping up. Look forward to seeing the Bluebell painting when complete. Have a good week guys.
Your broken nail made me laugh…I can’t seem to get through any project without breaking one myself! 😆 That Nori is a real jester! I just knew he’d be a handful with those planter boxes. Looks like he’s gotten in a bit of chewing on the corner of at least one box. Cheers, continued lobster pot success, and ATB!
A lovely episode - loved watching your four legged garden helpers - so happy for your newly repaired, glazed, and painted boat so very enjoyed and hauling in yummy dinners
Watching Norrie enjoying himself with the planting brought to mind the Cyndi Lauper song 'Girls just want to have fun', but with a new lyric 'Dogs just want to have fun!'
My mouth started watering looking at the cooked crab and lobster. It’s lobster season on the East coast of Canada now. You deserve it after all your work. It’s great finding so many usable things on the shore. I felt great empathy for Jack Spaniels being the good boy he is. He deserves a good stick. The garden is fantastic. Spring peas are so tempting I think tasting a few will encourage more growth. Just a thought…. What a week on the Isle of Skye.
Another great video!!! I love watching your adventures and I'm always a little sad, when it's over. Thirty minutes isn't enough time, cuz I could watch all your antics for hours. Have a great week and see you next Sunday, come rain or shine!!! 🌞🌦⛈☔🥕
Love this episode. Yummy lobster and crabs and soon you’ll have fresh veggies for your next feast! Will Nori ever outgrow his chewing phase? Great reclaiming and reusing stuff
Might be an idea to plant early carrots, because of your shorter season. I also plant a mixed leaves lettuce for come and come again. Enjoy your veggie harvest
I chop up banana skins, tea bags and ground eggshells, put it all in a container and fill it up with water, leave it for a few weeks and you have a natural liquid fertiliser. The best for your tomatoes is to chop up the leaves of the comfrey plant and do the same, after a few weeks it smells like sewage but you get beautiful sweet tomatoes. It's great to watch you back in my home country, I'm living in Spain (wife's choice) growing grapes, lemons, figs, herbs, garlic and cauliflower. Hard to keep the feral cats off of it though. Great video, always looking forward to your next adventure.
if you want a fun diy project with carrot seeds, you can make your own seed tape using a bit of loo roll and some flour and water for glue. Helps with the spacing. I did it for a wee test a few years back and i couldn't believe how well it worked. Saves having to thin out any seedlings which can attract the flies.

I am home bound don't know much about those things.I am up in age guys.
I sincerely wish more people in this world were as truly good and thoughtful as you two are!♥️
I believe that when you find a feather, your guardian angel is watching over you.
When you kept telling Nori to “get down” my Corgi got off the couch with a guilty look on her face (even though she’s allowed on it)😂
😂😂😂
aawwh bless
So funny 😂😂😂
You need to lower your voice when chastising Nory high voice is praise. Try to nearly growl.
😂😂😂
Hi. Don’t listen to the naysayers. Your videos are great and natural and very much enjoyed. Hugs

I like how you will repair things rather than buying new when you can. Good luck with the garden.
Nori has grown so quickly and is so mischievous while Jack is being a well behaved adult.

I would honestly trade my life and where I live to do what they're doing and live a more connected to the land type of life......maybe one day 😊
Another Nori proofing idea would be to pull the seats out on the grass edge for the time being =-)
Really like the new introduction. Nori just wants to dig and have fun. Lol
Everything is looking beautiful, I about love how your planters look in front of your gorgeous cottage, thank you for sharing your home and life xx
Especially loved the moody view out your window of the rain.
I could watch an entire video of rain and thunder. That part was beautiful .
And Away - The legendary Bob Mortimer
Love the garden boxes. I do like to see Sarah painting. Thank you.
Betty looks amazing. As always, well done you two. 🇨🇦

Hello, I wish you a lot of sunshine in the Summer, Lots of fish, fun and vegetables.
Gardens are work, but are also so rewarding. It is such a satisfying feeling when you eat a meal with the food you have grown. Good job with the egg shells.
“And away!” Our favourite tv series. So calming. Another great vlog from yourselves. Hope Nori keeps away from your veggies 😜
So cool that you can go out and catch crab and lobster. Nice first attempt of the season. Gardening is so rewarding and you have done a great job!

Copper tape around your veggie bed sides also works! I haven’t had any slug or snail problems since I used that and it lasts for years in all weather!

Egg shells against slugs is clever!

Plus egg shells around tomatoe plants, helps stop black blight on the fruit.
