DJ Burns has signed with the team to compete in this years summer league. Kenny Atkinson is known for developing young talent so if Burns makes the full roster, what's his real ceiling?
The Cavs’ summer league roster is taking shape.
Sources tell cleveland.com that the team has agreed to a deal with NCAA Tournament star DJ Burns Jr. to join them at summer league next month.
Burns will be accompanied by No. 20 overall pick Jaylon Tyson and former second-rounders Luke Travers and Khalifa Diop - a duo who has been playing overseas since being chosen by the Cavs as draft-and-stash prospects in 2022. It’s unclear whether Diop will be able to play, as he continues to recover from an injury that derailed his season. The rest of Cleveland’s summer league roster is still being finalized. It will be a combination of rookies and “veterans.”

6'9" is tall enough to play a 4 and small-ball 5. Shown he is ready to do more make any roster after losing 45lbs.
Loved his touch around the rim while having the ability to take contact and slam a few down.

Elton Brand was 6'8 in shoes and couldn't jump but he was a beast on the boards.
Boozer barely averaged 6 rpg in college until he lost weight in his last year...he'd go on to average almost 9rpg in his last college season and became a great all around rebounder in the league.
Burns lost weight, he is in a new system. His rebounding will improve.
Damm, I thought based on his tournament performances alone he'd be drafted, hopefully the Cavs lucked out and he can contribute.

I would have Burns go up against Mobley everyday in the post. Give Mobley a big strong body to go at in the post and toughen him up.

I completely forgot about DJ BURNS!!!!!!!! Excellent pickup by the CAVS!!!!!!!! He’s very versatile and talented for a Player his size he’s going to be a huge factor for this CAVS TEAM!!!!!!! He’s more skilled than Zion Williamson!!!!!!
I think it is awesome to try to win at every level. Cavs have a very good "farm system" for lack of a better term. NBA needs to expand on the league and take after the MLB. I hope we shoot to win the SL title. I hope we keep and develop Bates and Burns and WE BETTER view CPJ as an untouchable.
DJ BURNS is a couple hairs under 6'11 in shoes. His arms are long asf and he is super nimble and agile for his weight. Giving him a pro workout coach and development coach will make him a dynamic backup big
I hope the Cavs have what it takes to develop this young man. And continue to develop Emoni Bates as well. If they do this correctly, we could be a legitimate threat to the Celtics.

Burns shoots midranges with great consistently. He has the ability to make 3s
I just watched some games from NCSTATE. Burns boxes out elatedly and often lets his guards and other mates get boards. Look at his game winner vs Notre Dame. He has a key box out and lets his guard get it. HE does this often. I think he could easily average 7-9 rpg in college, but he does this often.
This is more like it. We really needed his size and strength down on the block. We have got to get tougher. Now, let’s see Bates can do.

CPJ shoulda took LeVerts role. He earned it. CPJ should be in the running not only for backup PG, but 6th man.
