Loving the twin birch broski. I applaud you for making this hobby happen in the frozen tundra!!! Cheers

      Thanks, brother.
As for the elements, yes it makes for a short growing season. But we also get near 24 hours of light (direct and indirect) for a bunch of it. So it packs a punch.
      I appreciate you, Jered

What an awesome view you have. And your twin trunk birch trees are progressing nicely

Thank you, Matthew. And thank you again. Knick arm is the waterway. And Mount Susitna in the background.

And yes, I don’t complain when I look at it, for sure. It’s sopped in today, but that’s Sleeping Lady (Mount Susitna) across the inlett

@@baldyeti it will certainly make repotting easier in the near future. I hope so too

Wonderful composition. Had to look up pics of Alaskan Birch - suspect they don't grow in southern British Columbia. Very handsome looking trees and forests. Really looking forward to the development of your twin trunk.

There’s a debate if Alaska Paper birch (betula papyrifera, var. humilis) is a different species than just regular paper birch. I believe last judgment was they’re the same 🤷🏼‍♂️. And to be quite honest, with the variety of species that grow up here, and the fact that most cross-pollinate, there’s a real good chance that I have this mis-identified beyond “birch”/“betula” 😬
After all that, thank you Mrs Sue!

@@baldyeti Makes a lot of sense. The European & paper birch treelings I have are likely hybridized too - hopefully will get the best traits from both parents. Their variety does fascinate me though. Good growing Mr. Yeti!

Hi bro,you don't need to repot for 2 years, no problem. They don't like year repot. Let them sit one more year. And let them extend more they don't like trimming, and you could lose some branches. Otherwise, good job. I'll do my soon too .

    • @baldyeti
      @baldyeti  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey, thank you for the insight brother. I appreciate that!
This has been 2 years since the last repotting. (Plus I think there’s something wrong down there). I’ll heed your advice on holding off on the trimming though.
Looking forward to your release, brother.

Love it, and you know what Billy boy?? This is the year. The year for what, you ask?? The YEAR TO CHOP IT, of course...for getting rid of those nubs. It's gonna be the best video you ever made. Alls you gotta do it get your loppers, get hammered, and chop away.
Seriously though I can see the potential here. Even though both new leaders [after the chop] are pointing in the same direction, this could make for a cool directional tree. Gonna email you I think...

      Now I’m in suspense!
My plan was to “break” off both tops so it looks as though they were both broken off after a heavy winter, and then regrew from there. Semper Gumbi though, I’m not locked it.
