There is only one Emma!
I tie a large brightly colored ribbon onto my small tools so I don’t lose them in my garden. It really helps because like you, I’m prone to leaving them around.😊
I’ve got about five pairs scissors in strategic positions and half a dozen pen knives and l still end up using a flint like early man ,to cut things 😂
Your face when you found your scissors! Priceless!!😂
I carry my small garden tools with me in a bucket, so they always are at hands and nothing is lost. So get a bucket too Emma! And thank you for vlogs that make me smile.😊😊😊
Hello Emma. You can pick cucumbers at any stage of growth. Tiny ones are used for gherkin pickles. 4 to 5 inches are good for bread and butter pickles. Bigger than that, I use for fresh eating. But they can be eaten at any size. Bigger they get, tougher the skin gets.
I spray paint handles of tools neon pink. So much easier to find them when I loose them.
Omg Emma you absolutely make my day everytime I watch your vlogs, thank you for being you, you are my inspiration 😊
you need to put some red or yellow tape around the handles lol ...get you a carpenter's tool belt to keep stuff in and hang the belt up in your shed when you leave the plot for the day.
Best crop of beetroot I've seen this year was in Dora's Allotment , but your's wasn't too bad all things considered.
The scissors finding scene was priceless .
You do not need to worry about ‘knowing everything’ about gardening. 😅 Every year there will be different conditions, you will grow different varieties, things will not be the same. You will learn every year.
Emma, you're just hilarious. 😂❤
"Is there anything a stick can't do?" Yep, it can't find your scissors 🤣
Your allotment is looking fab.
If I grow anything that doesn't turn out right, I look on it as "I grew something fresh for the compost pile"
Have a great week, thanks for sharing with us 🥰
Ive got a great idea for a video Emma! Todays video is how to clean and tidy up a allotment shed 😊❤
Hi Emma ide pick your cucumber now ❤ enjoyed your vlog as always your peas still looking good 👍
I’d pick it too, have had poor harvests this year. I’ll take what I can get my hands on as soon as I can!!!
Don't knock the beetroot! 😆 Those are lovely. Baby beets are much the nicest, which is why we always pull them at that size (golf-ball size). The big ones can
get a bit 'stringy', but those will be great and should cook nice and quickly, too. As several others have said, you can steam or stir-fry those green tops, too. I'm not overly keen on the leafy parts, tbh, but it's all perfectly edible and a useful source of greens 🥬 whilst you're waiting for the Winter and Spring cabbages to grow.
The beginners guide sounds like am amazing, idea. Emma. I'll look forward to that. 😊
You need to get a little garden bag for all the small tools and just bring it around with you. It has worked for me and if u leave the bag somewhere it's easy to find
Thank you ! Yay you found your scissors !
Like the way Emma goes to the trouble to net that bed and theres a big hole in the side 😂
Would love to see more videos showing what the rest of the Allotment looks like ... we have community gardens in Canada but much smaller and not quite like your allotments
Thank you Emma! ❤
If you know someone that's dose some sewing see if they could make you a apron solved with lots of pockets and you can have your tools in there
Great vlog Emma,,,
I love the idea of the vlog,,,,
I've watched you from day 1 and have learnt alot from you,,,
I'd love to be able to have more advice on making pathways ,,,,
I have learning disabilities so it's a real help to have something with how to do it so I can go back to it again and again (I forget easily),,,
Happy gardening x
Your beet harvest is great because the greens are nutricious and delicious
Hi Emma, your blue protection net for your brassicas has been giving me ocd for months 🤣 If you do thicker, longer stakes for the hoops & cable tie them on, that will help a lot. You can also get a long bamboo stick & run it along the whole length at the top & cable tie the top of each hoop, it will stop them flopping around under the net. I love your channel & never miss an episode. Congrats for the sweet peas & have a lovely week ❤
The older gentleman who use to care for the gardens at our church used to paint all the handles of his garden tools bright orange! He said it helped him find where he had put them down. Why are they all green, brown and black!
Einstein is such a cutie, and I’m glad you found your scissors ❤️🤗
Emma when you harvest a cucumber the next one will grow, so I'd grab the one you have before something eats it!
The bold statement and suspense following was my favorite part! I lose everything too, Emma. You’re in goodish company. 😂
I’m like a surgeon in operating theatre when it comes to all my tools Count them out & count them in after each procedure (task) 🤩. I have to be try & be organised cos once I put my keys (bunch had plot cards & house keys)on a ‘safe’ surface then spent over an hour trying to find them at the end of a very long day at the plot 😂.
Big beets do NOT necessarily mean woody beets. Also, wash the beet greens and they are fabulous when sautéed in a little bit of bacon grease. Add salt and pepper when they're cooked and they're a great side dish for any meal.
Monday morning jobs rock. This is a how I do channel not a how to channel. I have bright pick tools so they show up when I leave things at the plot xx
Well done on your Sweet Peas, I have never had any luck with Sweet Peas, I therefore hate them! Wrong attitude I know but I have tried!
The beets are great and they can get big without being woody.
Put peanuts in a feeder for the squirrel
I suggest painting or adding a ribbon in a bright color ( hot pink/orange) to your scissors... makes it much easier to find then black.
I think a how to series would be very helpful and/or what not to do guide would be cool.
So glad you found your scissors! Bring a long piece of fat bright ribbon from home and tie it round the handle. It'll make them easier to spot next time you put them down somewhere... because you know you will... 😀
Oh, that's a great idea to tie something bright to the scissors. Thank you.
I always grow beetroot with peas (I first grow them in pots with 2 or 3 beets then transfer them as plug plants close to my rows of peas The beets get hidden a bit but I find they grow well together & once peas are finished I can just pick the beetroot’s as and when I want them
Your beetroots are not crap. 😊 They are fab reeptoots.
Yay you found your scissors😃✂️ I think your beetroots look great, mine were the size of tiny radishes!!!! 🤣 I just think I need to give up trying to grow them in pots, I don’t think it works.
The beetroot looks ok all I get is leaves. I think a beginners video is a good idea x
You can eat the beet greens too. They are really good.
Beginners guide would be perfect as just taken on my very first allotment, which is VERY overgrown 😊
When it comes to the blue piping , i think a more stable structure would be 2 big pieces crossing over in the middle , in the shape of an X. Then tie it in the crossover point with a cable tie or string . Dont know if it works with the netting . Just an idea.
Crikey Emma those beetroot look ok to me, mine were the size of radishes and come to think of it I can't grow those either 🤣🤣
Same for me!
@@charlotterydz6343 same
Before scissors, there were sharp flakes of stones as "knifes" 😁
hahahah :D I thought you saw a giant spider at first but then I saw your joy and thougth nope that can't be a spider. I enjoy your vlogs sooooo so much ,thank you!
Frosted all my garden last four nights courgettes, squash, tomatoes and beans all gone.
Glad you found your scissors! Garden tool handles should be made in bright neon colors so they are easy to find!
You left them under pumpkin arch when you sniped it coz of your big pumpkin on the top. So glad you found them
I need to know what to do with a coldframe, please. I’ll be watching your new series 🙂
Good morning Emma, I’m so happy you found your scissors YAY!!! Ok the scissors are in the shed now lol. That’s a great idea for the beginners plot videos, maybe do a membership plan to go in a deeper conversation and mor detailed instructions and offer a guide for the new beginners plot owners to where they can write in there plants on their plots and maybe some pages of grids so they can draw on like a plot map for their future plans. Just a thought I just thought of. And also a segment of a question and answer between you and your members to be able to communicate together as a collective conversational section for members to meet together or maybe a pod cast. That would be exciting and could possibly take your channel to the next level up. Hope you have a great rest of your day, Karen from Arizona😃
Make some beetroot humus. Delicious!
Quora sez: Before the invention of scissors, how did ancient civilisations cut their hair? They used shears. Think of it as 2 knife blades connected by a springy piece of metal. They date back to Mesopotamia.
Hand shears are still a thing for shearing sheep--if you only have a few sheep they're great.
Get a longer cane, and tie it to the top of each netting arch. It will be much sturdier
Here’s what I saw on EBay and thought of your scissor dilemma. But glad you found them 😊
Garden tool belt Secateur 3 Pocket Snip & Scissor holder Quality Christmas Gift
Emma, buy one of those belt thingies, like a big hook, then you can hook your scissors on when you're working.
The beetroots are great 😊 I came 2nd in a veg show with some tiny ones!
I have a piece of red ribbon attached to each garden tool, which really helps.
I loved your exuberance when you found your scissors! I laughed along with you, Emma! I think your idea about videos for beginners is really good. I'm in my 3rd year of growing in my garden and would love someone to advise about companion planting. I've got books and googled stuff and they all differ! So confusing 😕
I think your beetroot looks just fine. Don’t knock yourself over it. They are not the easiest crop to grow.
Love the sweet peas
Need bright pink scissors so they're easy to spot on the garden. Mine are blue but could definitely be brighter
you need a swise army knife for xmas
I use my teeth a lot instead of scissors but that’s the lazy way because I still have plenty of scissors around to use for the garden
Beetroots look good to me.
The last time I saw the scissors was when you tried in the cucumbers.
Emma you're hilarious but you seem to get there in the end!! How about winding some sort of orange tape around the handles of your scissors? You would spot them quicker if you left them on the ground. As they're black it's hard to spot them!
Instead of using bamboo canes, since they deteriorate so quickly, you would be better off using 2’ lengths of rebar. They would survive for years. You may need a good mallet to pound them in the ground.
We use rebar and it works great!! Good and sturdy and no chance of them breaking or falling.
I know you have a pet rabbit - they can eat the beetroot leaves in small quantities!
Your beetroot is amazing! Roast them and they will be fine! Maybe dedicate a whole bed and sow successionally so you are picking throughout season? 😊😊
Hi from Brisbane Australia! Love your videos! I have to admit that I scrolled thru the comments to see if people posted about your scissors as I was watching the video. I couldn’t wait until the end to see if you found them or not 😂 I also love Einstein! Keep up the great work xx Kat
Edit: Just as I posted this, you just found your scissors! Woohoo! 😂😂😂😂
Those garden shears need to be sharpened and the nut that holds the blades on needs to be tightened so they don't gap at the tips
You manifested those scissors and the universe called.
Thankyou❤
My pumpkins didn't hold up very well int he frost, lots of black leaves. Have cut them off and left the under leaves to hopefully keep things moving.
Emms, paint your scissors a bright colour, and your trowels etc, they are easier to find in the grass!
Put a bright colour ribbon on your scissors then you will see them
Knives!
Emma, you need a tool belt! Keep your scissors and things in there?
You need to dig fertiliser into your soil (horse manure).
So glad you found your scissors 😂. Perhaps a small toolbox with a handle would be a help. Can I ask, why do you nearly always only wear one glove, is it the golfer in you 🤣??. Wouldn't it be easier to wear both of them?
Who said gardening is risk free!
It freaks you out, at times it freaks me out watching you, but it’s addictive. Squirrel’s eat anything especially bird seed. Want to watch one peel the green outer coating of a walnut. Your beets look the ideal size, large is not always best.

❤❤
Im not sure, but do you have to pick the sweet pea flowers, so you then get more? Might be wrong, don't listen to me 🤣
Hey Emma. Where are your red boots from i love them.
Beetroot looked ok to me. Hope they tasted good if you cooked them.
They look like Merry People boots to me :)
Didn't the vikings use axes before scissors xx
👍👍👍❤❤❤
😂 tip: get a second pair of scissors ✂️ just in case 😂
And then lose two pair
@@littlejoe8359 quite possibly 😂 but at least you’ll have the spare for a short time
Why don’t you get yourself a scissors pouch
I got a plot 8 weeks ago the grass was above my head the plot hasn't been touched for years everybody has left there rubbish on it.ive cleared some of it but it's so much jars work I'm.54 with arthritis in my wrists I can't seem to get to the bottom of it.theres baths amd toilets full of rubbish....shall I give it up have I took on more than I can chew?
