It's time for Malaysia to do some self reflection. Even Philippines is improving in table tennis and has defeated both of our male players. On the women's side even destroyed Ho Ying 4-0. I am not sure what is the situation of table tennis is in the Philippines, may some of our pinoy friends can explain. But from what I observe now, just like Malaysia, Philippines also rarely send players out to play on international tournament so I believe financial budget is also one of their concerns. If so, how come they still can develop such good players? Malaysia should learn from Philippines how they use limited budget and international opportunities but still not hindered to train such good players
This Misal guy come out from no where and defeated Nguyen Anh Tu who is a SEA Games silver medalist, as well as thai and Malaysian players.

From my observation are quite different; Too many fast drive and no tempo, error on receiving and it is a lot and mental weakness. Easily disappointed just a big,big problem every players should change. Come-on.play for happy strategies & winning the match. Players should make their opponent feel down not you as a Msian players down. Same result will be if you send them out for play.Take note for that

@@nilamar7019 Mental weakness is spot on. Actually I don't know why but mental illness just seem to be such a Malaysian thing, not just a Malaysian table tennis thing. You see even for badminton our players are mentally weak.
We have world class badminton players but mentally speaking they are not strong. But here for table tennis and especially for this tournament, playing happy is easier said than done. It's not a regular tournament, is a tournament than would decide whether if Malaysia can finally go to the Olympics after three decades. Of course players will be nervous and feel down. But that cannot be helped as you mentioned Malaysian mental is not strong.
Also one thing you mentioned about no tempo, I think this is not the main fault of the Javen. That is the chopper's main strategy. Even Nguyen Anh Tu and Napat Thanmathikom lost to him 1-4. Surely this lad is doing something right. It will be interesting to see how Izaac Quek fend off against him.

ok let me give you some points about Philippine table tennis scene. Our love of table tennis is timeless, we keep dreaming and still dreaming till this day that we could have a caliber player that could stand off against international level, when pandemic hits, I think, just my thought, a lot of our local pro players focus on developing deep technical skills including phycological on how to approach the game. And up until now, they still experimenting a lot. If you watch previous sea games in Singapore when Sir Richard Gonzalez grab the silver medal, a lot of young athletes and coaches started to gain confidence, that we can level up against major foes'. I guess from that moment our community started to shift on how we approach the game. This is just my observation. God bless team Malaysia! Greetings from Philippines ;)

I feel like it’s just a playing style problem? Do you have players who play like Misal that your natl team practices with? And it’s just one game. We can’t really conclude anything. And if we look at other things, like for example the recent WTT youth in puerto princesa, your players were better than ours. Almost all your players won against our players. As for the TT scene in Phil, it’s getting better. But we only have one really really good player at a time and they get to train abroad sometimes.

Malaysia needs new breed of players, and coaches. About time for Beh Lee Wei to step down.
    Own up.

And who shall it be? Choong Javen has been consistently reaching the finals of the national championships and won most of them. Who is better than him now? You simply go find one MSSM player or senior to play him I doubt they can even take a set off him. The only person who can possibly beat him now is Wong Qi Shen and nobody else can defeat these two now. Who do you want to find to replace them? And you better be lucky that Beh Lee Wei still coaching. With no money given to table tennis in Malaysia I doubt any "better" coach would wanna come.

@@starking1187 exactly. We need sponsors so that we can get better players and coaches. Current line up just won't cut it.
You saw the match video. I know you agree with my statement.

    • @starking1187

@@hryhry4922 No I don't actually agree with your statement. Javen is just 23 and Qi Shen is just 21. To throw them out like that just cuz they can't win is totally absurd and not to mention you can't find a single replacement for them. If you can and wanna throw them out I have nothing to say but at the moment, they are the best in the country and nobody can even come close to beating them. Many players only start to reach their peak at 27-28 years old but you wanna to throw them out now when they still quite juniors.
And just for your info Izaac Quek is arguably the best player in SEA who has defeated top players in the world like Mattias Falck and Sharath Kamal almost lost to this Filipino player. He needed to play 7 sets against him so obviously this guy is no joke. Thai and Vietnam also cannot beat him so why the fuss?
Sponsors won't come. Why? Because our table tennis is not strong enough to convince them to invest. If they don't invest we can't get better coaches or training, we also don't get to play outside. Players can only rely on themselves to win and prove to the sponsors they are worthy. If Javen and Qi Shen cannot do it, then I don't expect anyone else in the country to be able to do it and that is the cold hard truth.

@@starking1187 thank you for not agreeing.
we STILL need new breed of players and coaches.yes, these two are the best we have, at the moment. But for Malaysian players to have a decent chance playing in Olympic, we need BETTER players, or these two having BETTER playing style.
There are still young but as you may disagree, I do not see how they can improve further unless they have better coach, with better coaching method. As I saw from the match between Qi Shen against Thai, the Thai was not intimidating much but Qi Shen committed errors one after another.
Singaporean Isaac currently the best player within SEA region, yes. How old is he? How come he can perform better than our players?
Look at current young world-class players like Harimoto siblings, Felix brothers, to name a few; they have WORLD-CLASS coach and that really made the difference.

@@hryhry4922 don't wish for gold and diamond when we can't even get plastic. We can't get the opportunity to play outside let alone have better coach. Can we hire better coaches? Yes sure why not but who's gonna pay? Nobody. Why? Because nobody wanna sponsor? Why nobody wanna sponsor because we are not strong. We never ever have top player in table tennis. Our best player never even enter top 100 in the world. Singapore on the other other hand had so many world class players. Even beat china and to win world champ. That's why their country very generous to sponsor players and give funding not like Malaysia. We all know we need sponsor but easier said than done
Again, no point comparing to other country player. We know our player is not good as them but that doesn't mean they're weak at need to be replaced. Even if you wanna replace you also have to find candidate so I throw back to you WHO???? I ask you so many times but you also cannot give a name because u urself also dk who is better than them. If you want to train them to be better at their current level that make sense but not throw them away completely cuz it's even harder to train those weaker ones. But I hope you don't think our player is weak just because they can't win. In fact our players now are much much better than 5-10 years ago. Now we can upset top players we can never imagine that years ago.

this PH is a cheating player! That ball at 5:17 is the side of the table not even the edge and he has the audacity to pretend to apologize. You can see the trajectory go straight down. Why did Javen not protest it?? Why both umpires blind or something??? Even his serves are damn illegal!!
