To save more space, you could make the cuts at the corners, 45° to the sides of the frame. Then you would only be cutting rectangles out of the material. Should look cool after reassembly as well.
I’d suggest emailing support@lightburnsoftware.com with screen shots to show what you’re doing, and possibly the project file you’re working with so we can properly help you.
The only restrictions on the cutting tool are that it needs to be a single closed loop, and on a layer not set to fill. There's no reason it shouldn't work with something like a country outline.
What shaped would you like added? This could be a great use for the Art Library. This would allow you to import desired shapes that can then be used with just a click.
The tutorials are intended to be used as reference but we are in the process of revisiting some of the older videos. Many will be in smaller segments hopefully making them a bit easier to digest.
Your videos are perfect. To the point and demonstrate the simplest way to perform a task. Thank you!
An awesome feature in Lightburn. Faster workflow = more fun with our lasers! Thank you! 🙏

Can I ask how would you get those 45 degree cuts in the exact centers of the bends?
@@Raytenecksthe tool snaps to the centers with the cross, i know its late but for others looking later.
Excellent tip! Thanks for continuing to make a better experience for your users!
This is awesome. Love Lightburn and these quick and and helpful tips make me feel like a power user. Thanks!
Bloody genius and a genius piece of software...
Oh Thank you - Have spent ages in the past doing this.
Hi there, you could still dock the shapes to reduce even more meterial and reduce probably half of the time, gr8 video mate thank you
Thanks. I needed this and didn’t know how.
What a great tip, thanks so much for this!
I'm doing something wrong, when I "cut shapes" it removes the active line on both sides of the cutter shape and leaves the cutter shape

shift select the cutting tool ....what keys are you actually pressing?
@@wolfmercer - that means holding the Shift key while clicking the cutting tool, so it’s added to the current selection.
@@lightburnsoftware7189 using the mouse to left click on the cutting tool ?
@@wolfmercer Or drag select, but yes, in this case it was just clicked.
How about irregular shapes that I would like to divide them to. For example cutting along countries on the map as whole piece doesn't fit my laser...

Am I the only that wish Lightburn had more basic shapes like XCS does?
