  • This is the first in a series of several videos that detail the restoration of the braking system in the 1959 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II. In this episode we cover the operation of the entire system and then dig into the restoration of the master cylinders and the operating lever for the master cylinders.
Back in the 1970s or 1980s Steve (of Steve's House of Speed (TH-cam channel) and Ralph Curzon recorded a really good video on this same topic and I recommend reviewing this video before you start digging into your Silver Cloud. I believe this was originally recorded on VHS tape and then converted to digital format much more recently. Ralph is the fellow in this video who is doing the work.

Hey. I have a question. My brake paddel stays lower than it should be. I've looked into the master cylinder and the brake oil. What do you suggest ?

@@amanshahzad5072 Brake pedal height is set by the mechanical linkage back to the rear brakes, so I would start by adjusting them and then re-checking the pedal feel.

The large master cylinder should be replaced. The inside cylinder did not look so good any more. There are plenty for sale, or White Post can re-sleeve it!

Good input. Thank you. We are going to replace it. Also had an issue with the old-style seal retainer in that one. We had to pull it back out and replaced it with a different used one until we get the new one ordered.

So there's actually no restoring of the brake system in this video,,Just talking sporadically about one or two points of the braking system,,And a problem he ran into with the bore of one of the cylinders on his car,,,,,,,,what a waste of 18 mins,,,,,If the video says ,,Restoring the brakes of a rolls Royce,,,Then we should see a video of how to restore the brakes of a rolls Royce,,
