John Deere 322 w/ Model 47 Snowblowing Action!

  • Finally, a good excuse to make a tractor video - sunny weather, cold temperatures of -25 Celsius and a father who doesn't mind holding the camera, haha. The 322 is back in action this winter with the wonderful Model 47 Dual Stage snowblower that I picked up for it. It makes for quite the snowblowing tractor.

    Great Video. It is not always the belts fault. When a pulley wears out it gets super slick and the belt will ride the middle which keeps the belt from grabbing the V portion. Outside of the belt should be nearly flush with the edge of the pulley.

    Very nice tractor and snowblower. Those older 47's are really heavy, around 400 pounds. I have one on my john deere 430 with full metal cab, 75 lb wheel weights and six 42 lb suitcase weights on the the 3 point hitch. I am running ag tire on the rear at the moment and there's times I will lose traction but most of the time it's a beast. You've got a nice looking 322. Im looking to get one of those along with a 332. Anyway very nice video.

    have you tryed letting some air outta the tires to get a bigger foot print ?

  • @gardentractors1751
    @gardentractors1751 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The 322 is actually about 100lbs heavier than the 425. The main advantage for the 425 is diff lock and bigger tires. Plus the 425 puts out less torque to the wheels than the 322 does. IIRC it's about 700 for the 322 and like 620-640 for the 425.

  • @dmchristner

  • @468delray
    @468delray 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    looks like the 322 struggles little with that big two stage on the tractor. I wonder if it would work better with a 42 two stage and I also notes it doesn't throw the snow very far for a two stage. I seen some older john deere's with the single stage throw farther in the same snow condition. still think your two stage good. just got to go little slower in the deep stuff. keep your eye open for a berco 42-44 inch snowblower unit. I think you will like that much better then the john deere blowers.

    • @4gauge10
      @4gauge10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a single-stage,those are junk,in deep snow they tend to plug shut.(sold it)
      My 2-stage handles the deep stuff(2-3 feet)at constant speed,no slowing down one bit.

    I have the 318, second year with this snowblower. I'm having difficulty putting the belt on, is there a tensioner on the blower that I'm over looking?

    • @lobsterbox20
      @lobsterbox20  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a tensioner, at the center of the pulley. Two bolts on either side of the pulley need to be turned loosened, then a large bolt on the bottom of the assembly needs to be turned to tighten or loosen the belt. I had to install a small spacer between the tensioning bolt and the plate to get some extra tension on the belt. Hope this helps!

    Make sure you change your gearbox oil but don't use synthetic oil synthetic oil will destroy the brass gears to change the rear gearbox oil you have to take it off and turn it over to drain it's pretty easy it just takes a little while

Video doesn't begin to describe how far out in front of the tractor this blower hangs. This blower really shines with 20hp or more. Order the proper belt from Deere, and it will work properly and last a long long time. They are typically not the same as standard size belts, and in many cases cut at a slightly different angle. I think your drop in throw distance had more to do with your speed and the load than the belt- you could hear the motor dropping RPM. Especially when you hit the piles that had already been moved by the plow- Plow piles are much more dense than fallen snow, Turning breaks are your diff lock

      You mean shaft-driven P.T.O.?.
      No,not really...reason being is if anything goes wrong with the shaft drive,it's major down time,parts must be ordered,extremely more expensive to fix.(been there and done that)
      If a belt fails,you pay $50.00-$60.00 bucks for the belt,in 10 minutes or less and your back to blowing snow.

    • @4gauge10
      @4gauge10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaym8900 Sounds like you got an idler way out of adjustment,if you ever get a shaft drive tractor like an old Deere 400 or 420 or the new 700 series,you may live do regret it because if you break a drive shaft system on one of those tractors you're looking up words at $2,000.00 dollars to fix one of those,I'm not kidding,it's a lot cheaper to buy belts and alot faster.
      If you have your idlers adjusted properly and the belt still slips, spray it with some belt dressing, that will tighten it up to the point where you can actually stop the engine with it and it will not slip an inch.

      @@Atvsrawsome I've used SHAFT driven P.T.O.for well over 50 years and they are a major pain in the ass when they break down.You have to disassemble the ENTIRE transmission to fix a SHAFT driven P.T.O.,plus another $1,000.00 dollars worth of parts.
      A BELT driven P.T.O.does NOT ever require ANY repair at all.You remove and replace your BELT driven P.T.O..
      And if you use quality belts like GATES like I do,you can bring down to a stop a 25 hp.engine without one inch of slippage.
