Elizabeth Watson Yes, this happens to me a lot (I'm shy). because we hide ourselves out a lot from people. It's hard to explain. I think it's because people are just curious about how shy people really act. But we have to be comfortable with that person first. (We don't like attention...)

As a shy person, I think 70-80% of the time it’s because we’re so closed off that we don’t know how to act around people we’re not close to and overthink in social situations. (I’d say 20 or 10% of the time we’re just anti-social and prefer to be alone, and the last 10% is we’re either ignored/unnoticed or possibly depressed and want to alone)

Before that I sent him an im forgot what I said lol but do it alittle at a time...since shy people are better at texting or messaging instead of in person you can try that before walking up to him. After he become more comfortable with you, you can start talking to him in person lol start with "Hi"

maybe. look at his awkwardness. as a shy guy, i get awkward around people i like but comfortable around those i'm not romantically attracted to. by awkward i mean talking too much, too little, fumbling, overexplaining things... and i tend to do nice things for them, or appreciate their small gestures more.

He was so surprised and went all 'OMG' that its an out there feeling for me that someone finds me that attractive lol. After a few conversations, hes just starting to open up. Ok, i’ve succeeded in making a 7 years old shy boy to talk to me :) he wasn’t really mixed up with the rest of the kids so he just watches them sitting alone, i felt bad for him. So i greeted him nicely and he was staring at the cards so i invited him to play with me, he was too shy to speak up so i smiles gently and showed him to how to play the cards. I helped him a bit and his ears were fire red 😂 i later showed him some other games so he wouldn’t get bored...and guess what? Im the only one that he can approach...very cute! What if your both shy but only shy toward each other? Like, I'm not shy with anyone in my class except him and it's the same way for him. Also, did I mention he's friends with my friends but him and I don't talk. Ok, he has talked to me once directly but he was asking for a snack at recess (I'm in middle school). I'm sort of a hipocrate for saying that but your older so you should actually follow through. Things will flow from there, remember to be you and if he doesn't like that then he's not for you. Overall, talk to him, develop a relationship, ask him out if he doesn't ask you out and if he doesn't like your personality then move on, there are plenty of fish in the sea! Josh so I got really close to a shy guy. We hung out all the time and would talk all the time texting a few times a week even after he said he is bad at it. He has bad Social anxiety. I like this guy who i found out from his actions that he likes me. So i went up to him and said hey. He was so surprised and went all 'OMG' that its an out there feeling for me that someone finds me that attractive lol. After a few conversations, hes just starting to open up. Its annoying though as hes really difficult to talk too lol. Then converstation can end and im like what happens now? So i walk away. I did give him a small xmas treat which made him smile, and i gave him a compliment. I thought yep, i will keep doing that each time...the compliment that is. Ok, i’ve succeeded in making a 7 years old shy boy to talk to me :) he wasn’t really mixed up with the rest of the kids so he just watches them sitting alone, i felt bad for him. So i greeted him nicely and he was staring at the cards so i invited him to play with me, he was too shy to speak up so i smiles gently and showed him to how to play the cards. I helped him a bit and his ears were fire red 😂 i later showed him some other games so he wouldn’t get bored...and guess what? Im the only one that he can approach...very cute! I later introduced him to the other kids and yeah ;) yesterday, he and another girl came to visit my sister, they were playing in the garden but whenever i went in the house, the boy keeps following me 😂😆 I went inside to grab something and it lasted like for 2 mins only and he came in looking for me already 😂😆☺️

What if your both shy but only shy toward each other? Like, I'm not shy with anyone in my class except him and it's the same way for him. Also, did I mention he's friends with my friends but him and I don't talk. Ok, he has talked to me once directly but he was asking for a snack at recess (I'm in middle school). There was also this sort of awkward time when he was closing the locker above me (wasn't his locker but people do it to annoy people, he's not annoying tho) and I stood up basically a millisecond after it closed and his arm was on the locker and I was against the locker next to his arm. I don't remember what he said or if he said anything because I was in shock. I need advice!
Edit: PROGRESS REPORT - So, he sits behind me in one of my classes now. We talk a little more now that he is behind me in a class that we get to talk a lot in. Aslo in that class when we work in groups he is in my group so I guess this is going somewhere.
PROGRESS REPORT - He still sits behind me and now I follow him on Snapchat (he also follows me). He posted a pic where it was "say hi if you don't hate me" so of course I said "hi," the questions where deeper than I thought. One question was "would you date me" I was like 'oh shoot, do I blow my cover or reveal myself' so me being protective decided to say 'um maybe'. Another question was "should we get closer" and I said 'sure'. IDK why I wasn't more strait forward! He didn't wright the questions btw.

I'm 24 and I'm going through this with a guy. I think were both shy but just with each other. We have some mutual friends, we only see each other three times a year now. We both are attracted to each other, but were like hit and miss and having some kind of disconnect. I totally ignored his advances multiple times over the years even though I liked him I just freeze up when guys I'm attracted to approach me. Then he declined a one of my invites. Eventually I told him on Instagram if he sees me in person don't be afraid to say hi. I'm 12 so I don't know how much my advice will actually help, but... I say go for it! Gain a little confidence and talk to him. I'm sort of a hipocrate for saying that but your older so you should actually follow through. Things will flow from there, remember to be you and if he doesn't like that then he's not for you. Overall, talk to him, develop a relationship, ask him out if he doesn't ask you out and if he doesn't like your personality then move on, there are plenty of fish in the sea! There is a chance he's the one though.

Josh so I got really close to a shy guy. We hung out all the time and would talk all the time texting a few times a week even after he said he is bad at it. He has bad Social anxiety. Everyone knows how shy he is. But around me he never is. We connect allot. I told him a liked him 6 weeks ago. He has made it clear he likes me to. He made a huge effort and went to my jazz show I was performing. He bought me drinks. Drive 45 mins in traffic to get to me on time and surprised me at the show. He took me for dinner. We cuddled and got really close. Then he started to pull away. We haven't hung out for 3 weeks. He is going home for Xmas so could be due to the pandemic. He Still texts but he is in isolation. Last week i had a bad mental breakdown I accused him or lying to me when he wasn't and said he didn't want to see me. He calmed me down at 1230am and said he understood. But my breakdown lasted all week and I needed to see him. I apologized for what I did. I'm on bad medication right now that mess with me allot. I am sure everything is fine but we got close 3 weeks ago and I think that scared him..... Idk what to do. I have friends that he knows talking to him about it and I know he will be back cause he has done this before he gets really shy. Everyone knows how shy he is. My question is what do I do to hang out with him again is he is being Mia and won't reply to my texts. I have his Christmas gift I am mailing tomorrow to him so he knows i still care. There is this guys I like in school, but he's the shy and quiet type of person (that's why I like him XD)
I just don't know how to talk to him, since it would be very akward in case we had nothing to talk about, and I'm afraid I would just scare him.
But after watching this video, I picked up some good points that really helped me out!
• if I wanna talk about something, I should try to find out their interest and talk about it, as they will be able to talk about it more, and get more comfortable.
•Dont start by asking personal questions cos it will freak them out
•I can start by texting them first, because sometimes they talk more there, and it will be easier to understand what they are saying and think of a reply
But of course, besides these there were a lot more I learnt, even though perhaps some of them were not right(?)
But yeah, he had a Rubik's cube as a pfp, so I started from there and asked if he played it. (But before that, I had about 7mins of panick attacks cos I wasnt quite bold to send it) Surprisingly, he talked more than he did in real life!
And we had a great conversation too. And I was actually happy that I decided to send the text.
I think that actually helped him, cos after that he started to talk more in our class group chats. But as much as I would like to chat more with him, I also made sure not to spam him all the time, in case we ran out of topics to talk about and in case I was actually bothering him.

There is this guy in my class (we have been in the same school since 2nd grande?!?) and we never really talk to each other... But we were in the same exam Hall and that's the first time i ever considered talking to him. And the fact that he's so quiet and mysterious makes me want to know him ever more (???) btw he has amazing hair. I noticed his hair before i noticed him- 😭 i just wanna ruffle his hair once but also get to know him as a person. He is the kinda guy who aces science and math with one night of studying. He's super into anime and i don't know anything about it. So ya i guess there goes my chance to be his friend.

So there is this guy, his name is brad. We have had a crush on each other for about a year.. he's always been a real nervous/shy guy, like when we talk he can't really talk because of nerves and he blushes a lot.
