I traveled to Bloomington today from Cincinnati. I follow both teams closely and I knew this game was not anywhere near a gimme for UC, rankings be damned. IU is a much better team than their (now) 1-2 record might indicate at a quick glance. They were grinding UC down on both sides of the ball for the first 1.5 quarters. The Cats had a few breaks go their way and they jumped on them. That's what top teams do. But man they gotta learn to start a game off strong. BTW, Bloomington is one of the best college towns in the nation. Top tier.

Did people really forget Indiana had HIGH Hopes this year and was ranked #17 a few weeks ago? People are making this game like UC was suppose to cake walk them. While yes technically it would have been an "Upset", it's still a true road game against a top tier team in the Big 10. Winning by two touchdowns and outscoring them 38-10 down the stretch says something.
Tom Allen made a big mistake of not yanking Michael Penix for Jack Tuttle in the 2nd half. Penix forces too many throws and second guesses himself as a quarterback. McFadden should have done everything possible to avoid that targeting call. Indiana made far too many mistakes to win this game.
I'm pretty sure Fickell and his staff just may have preached that all week. lol And it was the first hostile crowd they have dealt with in 2 years. All of the false starts and offside penalties, were exactly what they tried to coach against. They weathered the storm and then took the storm. Correct call, but even as a Cincy fan I hate to see him ejected for that hit. Rule has to be changed. Costing teams too much for something that can’t always be helped. Similar to how the OSU vs Clemson playoff game changed once Shaun Wade was ejected.

@@TheOrac yea it’s tough and I’m not sure we have all the answers, but to throw someone out we need to be pretty confident they were intentionally doing it, or have seen multiple incidents of it occurring either in that game or even potentially earlier in the season. Just too costly a penalty when most cases anymore I don’t think they are intentionally trying to hurt the other player.
And? Who hasn’t been blown out by Alabama? I say this as an Ohio State fan as well, but recently it doesn’t matter if it’s Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, or Cincinnati. The result has been the same and IF they end up undefeated what happens in the CFP shouldn’t determine whether they get in or Oklahoma would never be allowed back.

You are right, McFadden would have stopped the kick off return for a TD and the would’ve forced UCs defense to not pick Penix off three times.
