    Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
    Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! - so my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live. I see how that works out 😊

Great way to wrap up the year 🤓
Glad to see Victorinox represents! My favorite gear of the year is Victorinox Cybertool M, which I bought the day after your review.
It's everything I need from my Spirit for lab/office use, but in the form of the well known SAK, it's just so cool! People in the office even were intrigued by this.
Thanks Sir for introducing me to new gear throughout the year. Hopefully more to come!

    Nice list.
I have a bunch of Victorinox Swiss Army knives, but the one I use the most is the Manager, because it is small enough for keychain carry, has a bunch of useful tools, and an emergency pen. If I were on a camping trip or even a vacation, I would likely bring my Compact or my Climber. And just in case, I keep my Cadet Alox or Pioneer in my car, along with a tactical pen, in a pocket organizer.
RE: Wallets. That wallet looks pretty functional. I actually prefer the moneyclip style wallet from Mitchell leather for easy access to cash, and room for as many cards as I need. But if I needed a wallet that doubles as a passport holder, the Wingback Winston looks like the way to go.

I wear glasses and have a screw loose, therefore the Compact gets my vote for Jon Gadget EDC Gear Review of 2021. Also, and I’m not sure if you’re aware of this Jon, but carrying scissors can be REALLY handy. Not necessarily to places like the North Pole for example (I mean that would be crazy, you’d be wearing mittens for a start) but scissors on a multi tool are definitely really very useful. And also little screwdrivers. They’re quite good. But mostly it’s all about the scissors.
😂 Thanks for a year of great videos Jon 👍🏻

Great video Jon. My favourite tool released in 2021 is the Knipex plier wrench XS. It is so much nicer to use than a crescent wrench (these are called English wrenches in my mother tongue btw 😝) while super tiny and light. Pairs well with a traditional plier multi-tool for tasks you need to have purchase on two different things. Wish you nice holidays.

Really good summary! I’m sad that you don’t like wines… then you would really like the Victorinox Wine Master. I’m a big fan of quality wines, we often go to winery tours here in Hungary, so the Wine Master gets a lots of use. You would love that knife, I recommend you to check it out. Pretty cool stove I wasn’t aware of that. I’ve been using a jet boil for quite a few years.
SwissTool Spirit is top notch. I have the serrated blade version. Very strong tool. I have more confidence in it outdoors or twisting the pliers than comparable LM’s.
You got me sold on trying to 91mm scissors with your videos. I chose the Climber over the Compact. I’m very happy I switched to a Cellador model due to added function over the Alox. I added a sandpaper strip to the inside of the hook, inspired by the Compact. Pen is the only thing missing from the Compact now. I seen a way to store a pen. (Felix Immler has some tips)

If you want to have the pen, the plus-scales are sold separately. I upgraded my Explorer to an Explorer Plus and it is my EDC for some years now. The only thing I'd really like to have added to it, is the hook with the file. Naturally, I'm quite interested in your sandpaper idea. How did you attach it to the hook?

    • @REAPER-1xxx
      @REAPER-1xxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@1zaj34 I tried posting a link but it doesn’t show up. I super glued sandpaper. I’m not sure it worth buying the scales when a few minutes with a file and any scale becomes a plus scale. Mine are trans blue so maybe that’ll ruin the look. Pen isn’t a big deal right now.

I had a Swisstool Spirit stolen (by a cruise ship baggage inspector) and the cruise company would not compensate. I enjoyed the video but I wouldn't replace any of my stuff with your other choices. I have a small TIP SE torch on my keychain and I carry a larger wallet than the ones you like. So we are opposites on those two pieces of gear.

That's a great torch (flashlight) Jon, and the clip to attach to a cap is a brilliant idea. I do worry about torches that need a recharger, as, say you want to be out for hours and hours. I mean, say you're walking for 6 hours at night, then AA batteries are better.

    • @JonGadget

Happy Saturday Jon. The Victorinox Compact made the list, what a surprise! ( excuse the sarcasm ) . Its rare that I carry mine but as it happens I recently bought a 2nd one as it was on sale at 50% discount, I should get in in a few days and I bought it for a female relative & at that price I am going to replace the boring red scales with elegant White plus scales. Victorinox recently released the new Climber Lite making it a 4 layer SAK, naturally I bought one and if they were to make a Compact Lite ( making it a 3 layer ) would you consider buying one? The LED on this new Climber Lite is much brighter than those on my 58mm Midnite Manager , my Spartan Lite & my old Huntsman Lite & the in-line Phillips is a useful tool . I have never considered buying the Swiss Spirt X & they are selling for around £195 by me locally

💥 Great Reviews 💥 but I must disagree with the Solo stove recommendation. It is the most over-priced, bulky, and slow stick stove I've used. Mine came with no instructions and the learning curve is steep. It also has a very small burn chamber and you will be feeding it constantly. I don't know if you have the Ikea utensil strainer "diy stove" over there but it is a fraction of the price and much more rewarding. It also makes ash btw 🙂 Thanks for all your videos this year 👍

When you say a locking blade is illegal to carry without a good reason , could that good reason be safety for the user . To me a using a slip joint is like driving a car with out brakes . You can do it but it’s dangerous

I know what you mean but unfortunately no - it's treated like a fixed blade - and therefore potentially a dangerous weapon!

It’s weird to think that a locking blade is illegal in the UK. So it’s legal to carry a knife, as long as the knife is unsafe to use.

Yes I imagine a wood burning stove would have been a useful item for a week being ignored in northeast corners of UK of no power.

Yes, would come into it's own then, as you break up the furniture to keep warm!

The flashlight gets too hot and shuts off after 10 seconds in the brightest mode? Why bother with it, then?

a short blast of this amount of light is a huge bonus compared to not having it at all - which would normally be the case in a light this small
