Ode to the S18. Made me miss it. Glad it is putting a big smile on your friend's face. Great wheel.

OneWheel fall under the RCW as an unregulated device. That means the Mima Falls situation you mentioned is someone breaking the laws of Washington state not allowing them to operate there.
EUCs don’t qualify for the same RCW as OneWheel due to the motor power rating so you can’t ride legally in many places.

The old 18650 cells were golden. Never a problem. the 21700 cells are a different story. Not only were they bigger, they had a higher percentage of active material. That means the interconnects were smaller and they heated up under smaller drains. We thought the 20 kph safe cruising speed was just lawyer speak, it wasn't. The smaller interconnects made the cells accident prone. If you got a cutout at speed, the batteries were hot and the impact strained the interconnects because plastic wrap had softened, so the mass wasn't restrained effectively. The 18650s were robust, the 21700s were marketing inspired. They probably worked in laptops and the like where there was no shock forces, and discharge times were extended from 8 to 10 hours.. This reminds me of TV adds in the 1960s featuring new space age insulation for refrigerators. Sounded good on TV, but all they did was make the walls thinner. They touted the larger inside dimensions, but the thinner insulation actually used more power and if you were in a humid area, the sides would sweat, so they put heaters under the outside shell to prevent that. The power company sold more power. Old story new again. However, the refrigerators didn't combust. They were only unsafe for your wallet.

This sounds more like people not understanding that a new battery requires new assembly materials and procedures/standards, Than the batteries being a bad choice.

S18 is great , i added extra 320wh so its 1440wh. If king song could sell s18 for 1500 usd, euc popularity would start approaching onewheel.
A big wheel i found that feels like s18, is the commander pro.

The A2 imo would be a good onewheel priced wheel with better performance and 1/2 the price 🤷. To sell a wheel like a s18 for that little makes no sense in comparison for what you get.

@@EUCWayOfLife i disagree , the S18 has the look and draws people in the A2 doesn't. Performance is good enough on s18 , new riders will be happy.

One of the velcros I have. I peeled off the old stuff, stuff on my new stuff and let it sit in my garage for a few days to "cure" the adhesive on the tape and it only comes off now when you pop back the kill switch handle. Only dumb idea on this wheel lol
