My superstition is second week of November that's just from my first time hunting last year. Im already planning on going up again. I thought oh maybe I might get a clear shot at a decent doe or a small buck, but what happened on the second week of the second day was a moment that ill never forget. A massive 8 point buck walked into my field of view i didn't even hear it, i saw it out of the corner of my walking my about 35 yards away but it wasn't broadside, it kept walking towards me in the tree stand i was put in then at 20 yards it turned for the perfect shot double lung hit with the crossbow.
I hunted on Halloween yesterday. Was crazy in the woods. On two occasions heard a buck grunt and make a rub. Saw one doing it far away. One of them walked within 20 yards of my stand but I couldn’t get him to stop for a clear shot (archery season in TN). Ended up taking a doe since I had to login for work at 8am. Yep, saw all this before 8am. Checked my trail cam the next morning and had more pics than ever.
It's on up here in central maine.we got 3 on sat the 28th the bucks were definitely chasing grunting like crazy awesome time of year.good luck guys and gals.
The rut is about to start, temperatures dropped yesterday and the colder temperatures on Halloween morning will be the start of seeing the bucks cruising. Halloween week is the peak time for getting a buck.
That last tip made me so pumped. I am going out all day tmr. Have it planned. Suppose to be coldest day so far as well as getting over a rain storm today
I understand many guys can't, but having multiple stand locations is key. I hunt both private and public land in Allegan Co. It's hard to sit all day in one spot. We all get restless. Being out there as much as possible will pay off significantly. Have that grunt tube or estrous bleat ready!
Excellent information. Always good to remind ourselves of the fundamentals. And, after 45 years of chasing whitetails in New Hampshire, I can confirm that there is something about Halloween. I've seen some crazy things in the woods on that day!
Deer movement has been slow for me. Went out Saturday for the first sit this year and saw a doe with a small fawn. Saw 2 young bucks chasing a couple does in my food plot by the house. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come this week. Good luck everyone.
Do you know when the rut is in Gladwin Michigan. My brother and I have always hunted state land during gun season. 4 years ago we bought 76 acres in Gladwin and have been on a sharp learning curve ever since.
The only place I can hunt is in a feild. The woods around it are other peoples property. It’s great for does . They come right in on the corn but I’m hoping I can get a buck to follow her in the field. I’m thinking about putting a decoy doe up and using estrus scent on it to see if I can get one to come in. Other than that I don’t have much hope lol. Any suggestions??

NICE! hope you got him! Those big old bucks are very quiet for how big they are.

Already started in northeast
Here in Mississippi the rut doesn’t start until after Christmas if not the new year

Weather is looking brutal for us tomorrow. Seems like Halloween is always crap weather. 😢 We will see. Good luck.

Many thanks. Good tips. Helpful & encouraging. Happy hunting.
Based on my trail cameras I have seen bigger mature bucks show up around 1230pm - 3:00pm during the rut.
Good info thanks!

Where we hunt in Montcalm county it seems to really ramp up on Halloween. I think most of the lower peninsula would be right around then.
@@whitetailevolution thanks...been fun having our own place to manage
where I live and hunt a 2.5 year old buck is a nice buck. So the rut and rut sign is very low.
