You could throw every Castlevania song into a hat and choose one at random, and it'd most likely be a banger.
Today's song comes from the Order of Ecclesia game, Sorrow's Distortion, which plays when you fight Albus.
We had a Castlevania-themed GaMetal Discord Request Battle a few months back in October, where I took requests specifically for songs from the Castlevania series. Heart of Fire ended up winning there, but there were a few other songs that stuck out among the rest. Sorrow's Distortion was one of them (placing #6 overall).
Who says we always have to save Castlevania songs for October?

Excellent song, you don’t see many covers for this… probably because Castlevania is so saturated with great songs, a lot of them get lost in the mix.
Plus the fact that many songs like VK and BT were reused frequently every time a new game comes out. The remixes were all great but it kinda pushed fresh new songs out of people's interest I guess
Agreed, becuz of smash my favs are vampire killer, divine bloodlines, Dracula's castle, stalker/wicked child, out of time
Thats because Castlevania songs don't even need covers, all of them are good enough already.
not to mention they only pay attention to symphony of the night songs or some other generic castlevania songs, like bloody tears... no covers of lament of innocence, bloodlines, portrait of ruin etc.
@@GeeseJoestar man, it's really sad no one aside Nintendo covered Lament of Innocence/Leon's Theme for Smash Bros. Ultimate. I really love that song, but I'm afraid we'll might never see anyone covering it.
@@EddieMaverickHunter that's right, there are incredibly good songs, followers of darkness, anti souls mysteries lab, gaze up at the darkness, and one of my favorites, eneomaos machine tower... those songs are as forgotten as their games.

ORder of Ecclesia is probably the most underrated OST in the series. It's so damn good!
Most underrated game in the series period-it's so good, just needed more varied levels and enviorments
@@gloving4hire I agree. Some of the levels do feel rather meh, especially if you compare them to the other DS games, but still the story is wild, and the use of symbols (don't remember the exact term) is nutty

I don't know, the curse of darkness and lament of innocence soundtrack is also too underrated. or maybe any soundtrack other than symphony of the night will always be underrated.

Hands down one of the best pieces of Castlevania's vast soundtrack. Sure, Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears will always be a classic but this song just hits different. Its a perfect instrumental representation of the setting here, a man struggling to regain control of himself, begging for the bitter-sweet release of death. I also feel as if Albus is one of if not Castlevania's most underrated protagonists. Sure, Alucard is as tragic as it gets but this man sacrificed everything to protect whom he held dear. His body, his mind and the very essence of his own soul, just so Shanoa could live on. Truly one of Castlevania's most noble heroes

Ah yes, Order of Ecclesia, the last installment in the original Castlevania timeline, before devolving into remakes, spin-offs, the "Lords of Shadow" reboot series, and then just being plastered on gambling machines and NFTs because Konami is just incapable of making any actual good games anymore...
...I just made myself sad. :(
Lord of Shadows is actually pretty good, once you take it for what it is and let the expectations of the past give way
The Pachislot and NFTs is Really Bad tho, even if there is a stupid sexy Alucard on one of the pachislots
I actually second this. I had a friend who was trying to sell me on the lord of shadow series and after you take it for what it is as mentioned…. It’s fairly solid

Johnny, what about other themes from the game like An Empty Tome / Twilight Stigmata, Rhapsody Of The Forsaken or Lament To The Master?.
Almost every time someone other than a Belmont has to have dealt with Dracula, it has been a tragedy. it just goes to show how strong Dracula is and how badass the Belmont clan is.
Shanoa Is my favorite Castlevania protagonist, same with Order of Ecclesia as a game. Game wouldn't be as good without kickass tracks like this one. Definitely hope to hear more of them from GaMetal.

oh by the dark lord's whooped ass YES. When I first played through OoE ages ago, this song stood out head and shoulders above the rest minus one song that appears later(if only because it's preluded by one of the best quotes of the ENTIRE series). The chills from the organ intro, the sense of maddened desperation, the feeling of the need to fight on even against your brother. You managed to capture it all.

I remember ordering this, Dawn of Sorrow, and Portrait of Ruin off Amazon a few years ago. I got the other two games, but Order of Ecclesia had the plastic torn half off the box and placed back over it like a sleeve. Someone, somewhere along the line stole the game out of the box! It was empty!
Amazon was great about the whole thing, and now I have the game on my shelf. But of the 3 games, I still haven't played Ecclesia! I need to get on that.

NO WAY, of all the tracks THIS just happens to be the first boss theme I EVER heard from the series (courtesy of a Top 10 Boss Music Tracks video a fair number of years ago), which coincidentally impressed me so much that I looked into the series OSTs and became familiar with this series amazing music. What an unexpected nostalgia trip!

Castlevania is a franchise that went dark so long ago, and im glad. It means only the OGs and true men of culture remain in the community and i couldn't be happier to be part of it, for 14 years now, i started playing castlevania games when i was 4 and im still in love especially with this title, Order of Ecclesia. Thank you for reuniting us one more time.

A great remix. I can't believe you got me to love ANOTHER remix of this song. Also, thank you for not putting that stupid scream at the end that EVERY remix I see puts in (where he screams Shanoa's name after you beat him). I can't stand it when remixes do that.
I love the variety of instruments that you use in your rearrangements to play the melody. It always keeps me engaged and I find myself listening carefully for all the small things you do, not to mention the surprises and care put into the original compositions. Stellar!

@@Flegan777 Julius Mode eliminated the touchscreen gimmicks so they could do the same for the main campaign. But POR sisters mode relies on the touchscreen.

WOW I was chilling out listening to some Pokémon, Shin Megami Tensei, Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, even Live a Live, covers. Ya know, the usual. And then I found this and remember Order of Ecclesia is my favorite Castlevania and one of my favorite DS games for more than one reason. This track slaps hard but man this cover is pure Vol Ignis 🔥🔥🔥

Astounding work, as always! I've never played any of the Castlevania games, and my only exposure to them is SSBU/a speedrun World Record history video, but that is enough for me to know that the music of Castlevania is amazing!
Also, the Astral Chain soundtrack is begging for more people to cover it, especially Dark Hero, Invaders from Another World, and Emergency.
