    Thanks!! Same as Adriel - it went into my cart before the video even ended. Because I've been in commercial photography for so long, about 70% of what you cover I usually already know. But the other 30% I don't know about is gold to me. This is a perfect example.

    • @jeremydeihl
      @jeremydeihl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome, it really has reduced my post production time by half because I never mess with colors. It's hard to remember to set a new custom white balance in every room when you first start using it, but eventually it becomes all natural

    Yes that makes perfect sense, a gray card needs to be facing the light source so you should turn your back on the scene and try and position the card to reflect the light towards the camera whereas this uses diffraction to gather light from the entire scene!

    i have had the expodisc for years now and you are absolutely right about the tilt towards the warmer WB. Used it a few times and dropped cuz my lenses are over 77mm in diameter.. I think the best method is adjusting your kelvin manually.. I can't keep hauling any extra stuff along with the heavy gimbal, field monitor, camera and lens..but will get the bootleg version for its size and use it when in those tricky situations..

    • @jeremydeihl
      @jeremydeihl  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great advice here. Knowing how to do it manually is super important

    Do you set the white balance before you attach the giant polarizer filter adapter to your camera?

    • @jeremydeihl
      @jeremydeihl  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope. I set the white balance after the filter because I have noticed a slight green tint sometimes with the polarizer attached and it helps remove that

  • @DA-lp4rh
    @DA-lp4rh ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Are you pointing into the room, or going in the room and pointing back to where the camera will be filming when you set the white balance with that?

    • @jeremydeihl
      @jeremydeihl  ปีที่แล้ว

      I typically try and aim the custom set square at the wall/area that's had the most color contamination from the different lighting tones. The white balance tool works great, but I have noticed over time I get the least accurate readings when I point it directly at the windows.

    • @DA-lp4rh
      @DA-lp4rh ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeremydeihl I have a generic one also - the best I can tell, is that for best use you should aim it backwards to where you will be shoot from, rather than where you are aiming your lens - but I seem to have fairly similar results when I aim either way - just curious...thanks.

    Do you use it for RE photos or just AWB?

    • @jeremydeihl
      @jeremydeihl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually use awb for photos because it's so easy to change colors in post. Since it's much more difficult with video, this method works prime for it

    Nice one, but would great if you did a post color correction to add to it, bc usually in real estate there are all kinds of different lights and color cast all over the place. I just recently saw a good tutorial on how to take the color cast out of shadows and highlights to make an overall clean white balanced look done in post which I had never seen before. Also looks like they are no longer Available..

    • @jeremydeihl
      @jeremydeihl  ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, you don't have to attach the ExpoDisc to lens. You can just hold it in front of the lens. Buy the bigger one and it works for most lenses.
