- I still can't believe I landed this monster fish! Join me and my mate Ryley as we head offshore on the Gold Coast, QLD to go spearfishing. We land some nice crayfish and a reef fish before we move spots where I run into a massive wahoo. It was an intense fight, the fish took 100 meters of reel line within seconds and dragged me through the water.
We fillet up the fish and make a beautiful sashimi platter and enjoy it with friends. The eating quality of Wahoo is excellent!

Gene that is literally insane bro!! That fish was one that dreams are made of, that is a true trophy fish bro. Locals to the Goldy will appreciate it even more, so crazy! The whole video was literally unreal, best spearing/fishing vid I've watched in a long time. Really well done on the edit and the whole vid. I cracked up so hard seeing Ryley's face when you brought it to the surface too 🤣

Such a great catch! Congrats!! Regarding reels and belt reels - I probably would clip the belt reel clip directly to the speargun's reel line (not trusting the reel would hold such a monster fish). You were so lucky with that knot!!! :)))

Cool whoo, if you don't have a scale, Measure length and fastest section (girth). There's a Formula that's Accurate. Just check it's in most good Fish books👍👍🤞😁happy hunting

About 32kg, I reckon. Great fish.
I would absolutely love to get a Spanish or Wahoo in that size range but I’ll be attaching my gun directly to the float or using a breakaway. I like my gun way to much.
Thanks mate.. I was wishing I used a float and float line when I was untangling all the reel line, took me a couple hours 😂
@@primal_pursuit looked like a reel (excuse the pun) mess. I used a reel on a big wooden gun for the first time just recently in Bali and for those 5 to 10kg fish in broken reef it was great. Much easier to swim into cracks and caves. But for big blue water situations I’ll stick with the direct connection to my float.
Haha your not wrong, yeah they have their benefits. Float is definitely a lot safer for bigger fish

@@primal_pursuit this weekend past was awesome nice blue water like 10-12m vis 5knt wind and 0.6m swell. plus you can just dive off the beach there/ or the rocks
