- ESPN FC’s Craig Burley joins Herculez Gomez and Sebastian Salazar to react to Derby County and former D.C. United, Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney’s comments to former teammate Quincy Amarikwa that MLS owners are taking advantage of the players in the league. Gomez agrees with the argument that Rooney makes, and reflects on his own experience being traded in the league, as well as his time playing in Mexico’s Liga MX.

If you are born in USA and play for the now MLS Super Leauge(Youth Academy) you are playing and being trained less than par. It's not the coaching staff and players fault. It's the MLS and US soccer that is the reason why.

Ya i think his argument Is that most American players in MLS have it good than they would have had it otherwise. Basically he saying they wouldn't be playing at a similar level if they moved abroad and apart from the lucky few who make it in Europe most simply would struggle to find professional club paying good wages.. now whether their contracts and conditions are actually really that unfair is not for me to say as I have no idea of the issues at hand

there are plenty of "lesser leagues" worldwide, with smaller markets than MLS has access to, but nevertheless manage to treat the players "fair". And there are more players than ever from north america making a big impact in europe right now...just saying....

I am very surprised to see the salary that many MLS players are making. Rooney is honest and telling the truth. As to the money he made from MLS, that's the value he brought to this league.

“The league literally owns you.” (Craig burley) I know it’s not quite as simple as that sounds but it’s not far off. Maybe I’m crazy but I think ownership of people or their basic life choices is wrong. I know MLS isn’t drowning in cash but if some of what the guys talked about is true then MLS needs to make a few changes.
