Broadway DRAMA: Recasting Rumors, Closing Shows, & Hot New Arrivals!

This week's Broadway News is PIPING HOT! To kick it off, we draw the curtain on a recasting shakeup with the upcoming Tammy Faye musical, between Andrew Rannels and Christian Borle. The Who's Tommy has announced their closing and two new sparkly shows are headed to New York: Boop! The Musical and Drag: The Musical!

I saw boop in Chicago and it was is absolutely amazing! It’s essentially the Barbie movie but a bit more rounded and streamlined. It definitely needed some work but the premise is pretty solid. Also jasmine will be taking the Tony she’s an absolute triple threat!

The star of Tammy Faye, Katie Braben, won the Olivier for this role in the West End.
Tommy’s plot is not the strength of the show. The music, lighting, sound are awesome. Ali is amazing. Nothing but Merrily would have won Best Revival.
If Boop is silly then it could go the way of Heart of Rock and Roll.
