In-Wall Bathroom Aquarium. Did I Take My Dream Too Far?

- I've wanted to setup an in-wall aquarium for a really long time now and I knew I would at the new place. I just wasn't sure where. However, as I was building out the animal room a few months ago, I made my decision... In the bathroom! I know it sounds silly, but it actually ended up being a great place for it.
Visually, I think the tank turned out really well and I believe I nailed the in-wall aesthetic. From a functional perspective, though, having an aquarium in the bathroom is definitely the move! It just makes sense. I think so at least. What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Only thing I would do differently is put it facing the toilet so I can stare at it more easily while doing my business haha. I love aquariums, I could stare at them all day :)

But seriously, it is amazing how crafty you always get in tackling a certain problem/project. I don't think it's weird at all to have a fish tank in the bathroom, as long it's all hygienic and safe for the animals, which yours clearly is!
as an electrican we always do over as it has less drag on long runs

Putting the toilet paper under will make it harder for cats to unravel

I built a 5 gallon planted shrimp tank into a towel shelf in my bathroom, friends would be in there for like 30-40 minutes just starring at the tank. Lasted 8 years until I moved out. Once every month or so I would have to scoop out about 50-70 shrimps they were breeding so fast. I think it was because I never messed with it, just added water, probably only did 10- 15 50% water changes. Turned out to be one of my best performing tanks. Good stuff fren.

This looks fantastic! I suggest you get a Fluval LED light and program a gradual day/night cycle. Would be really cool to have it fade to blue at night.
I have Fluval plant spectrum lights on all my snake cages, but they make aquarium versions too. They are pricy, but I love that they create a dawn/dusk/moonlight effect. No regrets!

Huh - how nice are they as ambient lighting? I’m just thinking about it in a bathroom, basically having that serve as a nightlight, could be cool and handy!
@@KatherineCrawford67 oh man, they should totally make light fixtures for living rooms! I think it could definitely work as a nightlight, though I would probably still figure out how to defuse the light or maybe mount it in a recessed area.

Awesome stocking choices I think the fish and yellow shrimp are perfect. Yellow shrimp aren’t used very much anymore so nice to see them. The shy fish in a bathroom makes sense!

When I was growing up, Mom had a beautiful aquarium in our bathroom. It was so fascinating to watch. I loved it!

Over is the way to go, I call that "Kitty style". appropriate for when you have kitties. The tank looks great, love the wood trim and green wall together.
TANNER! THATS EUCALYPTUS ROOT? I was looking for a piece for like a year now and didn't know that's what it looked like - and just realized I've had that exact type of driftwood since summer of 2021!! 😅 Gotta go dig it out of my storage now. This is such an inspiring scape for what I want to do too, what a beautiful tank!

Nothing finer than a bathroom with an aquaria ambiance- you may be starting a new trend! The build is beautiful and enjoying the frolicking fish should have a calming effect on whoever is watching.

I wish all these tanks could be plumbed and interconnected to share the same water and chemistry. Seems overwhelming to have to work dozens of individual tanks one-by-one.

The guy that takes care of our bathrooms at work is actually a genius because he puts one toilet roll over, one under, and the smaller leftovers he places on top of the holders for those that like loose rolls.
We’ve wanted to do this in our bedroom for a long time . On those sleepless nights in would be so relaxing to watch the fish swimming around! ❄️💚🙃

Its always nice to have natural decorations in unexpected areas , and for over/under im over , it looks cleaner

Discovered this channel fairly recently and been binging through videos, and found out I really love shrimp!! Never realized how cute and lively they are for tanks and it makes me smile whenever I see them in a video.

I love the idea of having it in the bathroom, I’ve got a scaped bowl - java fern species only - in my bathroom! Im pretty sure a good tank is a welcome addition to literally any room. Love seeing the progression on the animal room, you’re doing great Tanner!
Love it! I've wanted a wall aquarium since 1996 when I saw the Baz Luhrmann "Romeo and Juliet" with the beautiful saltwater tank. You did a great job!

I had a friend who installed an aquarium that was 60" long by 32" high and 12" deep. Yep, he installed it in the wall right beside the bathtub. It was superb!
Such a beautiful scape and I love the critters you've stocked it with.
I can clearly say this is one of my favourite builds, just love the scape, a lot of wood, little anubias peeking through and yellow shrip for contrast but still very natural colour, beautiful ❤️

I had 2 tanks in the bathroom! In 1979! 40 long in the wall that was the headboard in my room, other side shower. Nano tank on the vanity. LOVE your very informative videos

I have Emerald dwarf rasboras too. They are shy and like to hide. They are on with cherry shrimp. I have added some neon green rasboras and the emeralds seem to come out more now. I love the scape! I'm an over girl on my TP... LOL

Precisely the kind of thing I'd love to do--I love it. (Also--clever idea--I am never sure which is the over- or under-hand roll! But I do as you do, it turns out. :)) I wanted to say, thanks to this really quite inspiring channel, I've taken the plunge and started my own tank. It's been a roller coaster few months getting rolling with algae, mould, ick, snail infestations, and even an issue with heavy metals--but finally it seems to have settled, and I'm pleased with how it's turned out! Likely not quite up to your standards, but my main interest is in making sure the fish are happy. I love that this is an art form that, when executed well, offers care and comfort to these tiny lives. Thank you.
