@@AB-yk2pq I don't think she does. I remember Karina saying that she does talk in her sleep and once said "l'existence précède l'essence", but that doesn't mean she speaks French in her sleep. There is quite a gap between knowing a few sentences and being fluent. Her pronunciation is pretty good though, as a French person myself, I was very surprised. I could be wrong, but this is what I understood from Karina.

From what I understood, while she was international student in Japan she took French classes and had friends who spoke French. She most likely knew French decently when she was younger. I mean it's not like they just told her "Pronounce this in French in episode." When she could easily use English or Japanese instead. So in conclusion I think she still does know at least a little bit of French but she most likely forgot it since she had to improve Korean. Similar things happened to my Italian.

I didn't have this impression from Giselle. Maybe she used to speak French but what you used to have doesn't matter anymore in the present. French is often enough used in the kpop world yet it doesn't mean all the idols that have used it speak French or took French classes. So choosing French is more for artistic purposes than anything, and they chose it precisely for this reason. So saying that they could have used English or Japanese instead doesn't stand. I'm not hating on her; as a language learner myself I know that it can be a strenuous process and I admire her for being able to speak 3 languages with such ease every single day. I was simply giving my opinion as a French speaker.

Many idols who haven't lived outside of Asia lack in English but they still know it. As long as you can communicate or understand you're already on certain level. But again Aespa is not even one year old and Giselle is the least promoted member so far so we can't confidently say anything. And if you used to know language it is easier to learn. So who knows maybe Giselle will try to improve her French after she gets comfortable in Korean and Japanese.

She can still communicate in Japanese, probably read while she might have trouble with writing.
